Bacon salt

OK, just for the record.. today I purchased a bottle of Bacon Salt. Let me just say it tastes NOTHING like bacon. It's just another hickory flavored seasoning. Even the inventors/company say "There's no bacon in the product". If there IS NO bacon in the product, it can't even remotely taste like bacon. Sorry. That's the fact. As a Southerner - which makes me an authority on bacon.. or at least the taste of bacon - Bacon Salt is an affront to my very existence.

I did learn however that it's pretty damn good on microwave popcorn. -ALLST☆R echo 02:46, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Bacon makes baby Jesus cry. I'm a Southerner (by the grace of God, of course...amen and amen *APK begins to speaks in tongues and bark*), but the thought of eating greasy, hard, pig fat = no maam. Anywho, I've been searching for an image of Tocowa. No luck yet, but APK will keep looking. I was lucky in regards to finding photos for these two ghost town articles. Speaking of deserted places covered in spider webs, how's yo puss been durrin? APK straight up now tell me 04:47, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Good luck with the Tocowa picture search. I've been looking ever since I created the article. And my poonanny isn't covered in spider webs. That's an impossibility with a "26yo horny all the time chaser twink" as a husband unit. :P -ALLST☆R echo 04:58, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
APK doesn't like bacon? Your arteries are happy about that, but your taste buds miss out. I'm not surprised to hear that "bacon salt" tastes nothing like bacon, ASE. LadyofShalott 05:01, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
He likes bacon if it comes in the form of a gay police officer, I'm sure of it. And because I was so disappointed in Bacon Salt, I won't even bother buying to try their other creation, Baconnaise - not that I like mayonnaise anyway. Can't stand the stuff. When I cook burgers or make a sandwich, I use Miracle Whip instead. And here's a recipe tip: next time you do mac & cheese (hopefully it's the good kind with the creamy cheese and not the powdery cheese), add in a tablespoon of Miracle Whip with the cheese sauce. YUM YUM! -ALLST☆R echo 05:11, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Oh, now: Miracle Whip? Blech. Kraft mayonnaise for me, please. (File those other comments under TMI for me. ;-) ) LadyofShalott 05:15, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm with me Lady. I hate Miracle Whip as well. There were many reasons I never fit into the redneck society of Eastern North Carolina. Besides the obvious, APK doesn't like most "Southern food." I hate pork chops, mashed potatoes, all types of beans/peas, cabbage, squash, fish stew, bacon, etc. But I looooooove collard greens, hush puppies, deviled eggs, and most casseroles. I'm weird, thanks. (APK goes back to restoring his files, all thanks to an evil computer crash that happened this week) APK straight up now tell me 05:29, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I added both Mississippi and LGBT to the script; please let me know if there's any errors. Thanks! –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 21:07, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, will do. Is there anyway to add the option to choose class and importance? I just tested the Mississippi one and it seems like even more work to use the script to tag the talk page, then have to go back to manually edit the talk page to add the class and importance. Also, a suggestion.. a configuration parameter to only include the projects you want to see in the list. For example, I'm not a member of the Albums project nor do I tag any pages with that project, so a configuration parameter to not show it in the list of projects would be a nice feature. -ALLST☆R echo 21:09, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks; those are both on my to-do list. The code is kind of complicated, but I do hope to add both of those additional features when possible. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 21:23, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

3O

Hi. I've removed your request for a 3O since there isn't really any third opinion to be given. From what I can tell, neither you nor the other editor have really discussed the edits; all I see are back and forth reversions amounting to a small edit war. I've started a discussion on Talk:Millsaps College, so you should discuss it there first. Once it's clear that you two are at odds, then request a 3O. Does that make sense? — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 01:58, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Mississippi State

Uniform combinations are not alternate uniforms. An alternate uniform is a completely different jersey style. Just like on the NFL wiki-pages, uniform combinations would be a seperate pic. Please do not replace them again. Thank you. JohnnySeoul (talk) 01:58, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

They should be presented in all combinations of their new uniforms in which they are worn. In this case, Mississippi State specifically unveiled 4 combinations. You need to update the image or I will change it again. Thank you. -ALLST☆R echo 02:11, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
    • How is this any different from the NFL wiki-pages? Nobody has ever had an issue with this. Therefore, the regular home/away uniforms only will be placed in the main uniform template. The uniform combinations will be a seperate pic. If you disagree, then we can start a discussion on each NCAA team page instead of changing it back and worth. Like I said, this is the way it was been for every single NFL wiki-page and there is zero justification to diviate this. JohnnySeoul (talk) 02:51, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
      • The Mississippi State football wiki-page now has a Logo and Uniform section for all logos (past/present), past uniforms, and all uniform combinations. JohnnySeoul (talk) 03:06, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

scoreboard parameter on {{infobox Stadium}}

Hi,

Firstly, this parameter was never discussed, and was only actually implemented the morning. Secondly, the exact type of scoreboard used in a stadium is trivial and will rarely be sourced. By adding trivia to infobox templates we dilute their value. I'd prefer for this param to be removed again until such point as there is consensus that it's a useful addition. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 13:28, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Does it really make sense to need consensus for something that is OPTIONAL? Seriously? It's an optional parameter so no one has to, or is being forced to use it, and as such, why does it hurt anyone to have the option in the template? Did you go see the parameter live in action at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and see in the actual article where it's sourced? Sources are generally well found for scoreboards, especially when they are replaced with big multi-million dollar high tech ones as the case was with Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 19:49, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
It "hurts" because, as previously stated, it's trivia which isn't going to be commonly-sourced. That it can be made optional does not imply that it is free, because it encourages people to add trivia to templates. But to be honest I'm not really that bothered - it does need to be re-added to the doc page, however. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 13:03, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Bikini

What exactly is this "layout purposes" you are referring to? Wikipedia images are mostly supposed to follow the standard thumbnail layout (that is the whole purpose of the standard, right?). Only when it doesn't work, you need to put in additional size parameters. Try using the "upright" code, if you like. But, making images smaller than your eyeball serves no purpose at all. And, please, conduct article discussions on article talk pages, not on your talk page. That way it's more visible to third parties, and are more helpful in building a consensus in case of a dispute. Aditya(talkcontribs) 14:15, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

If you can't see the layout problems that too many images at undefined size causes, you need new eyeballs. As for the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" smartassness in your edit summary.. it is broke, so I was trying to fix it. You must think I'm a newb? At any rate, it's hardly worth spending any more of my time over so carry on, move along, nothing to see here. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 15:20, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Apology

AllStarecho, I've been operating with the premise to become an enormous nuisance to Grockl due to his flagrant conflict of interest with pulsatile irrigation. My friends and I were having fun with it by making prefuse homosexual references on his talk page as well as the talk page of administrators that got in our way.

I grew up in a place where, frankly, we don't have any homosexuals. None. If there are any, they certainly do not come out as it would likely endanger them. One of my friends came out, and he was sent to special school for several years. I was raised in an environment where comments like the ones I made on Grockls page are considered funny and insulting. Among my friends, it is practically a reflex.

When we discovered that we had unknowingly directed our remarks at an individual that is actually gay, we were horrified. Please know that these comments were made blindly without thinking. My friends and I are good people, but we learned a huge lesson today. I can assure you that this was a huge wakeup call for us. I feel like I should kill myself. I won't make comments like this again, and I can assure you that I don't find them funny anymore.

I'm trying to make this is sincere as I can, but I'm not sure what to even say. I've never felt so ashamed of myself in my life. As mentioned by other editors, I can't even imagine the discrimination you have endured. I do not ever want to make another human being feel pain because of a part of their identity that cannot, and should not, be changed.

Please accept my most humble apologies.AbstractClimber (talk) 04:29, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

LGBT cabal

I liked the picture - actually you are sort of right - I *do* think there is a cabal but I think that about *every* subject area here. I think that articles tend to work best when they have a mixture of people who are passionate about a subject and those who don't care or look at it with a more analytical eye. The fighting between the two then leads to better quality articles. Take the Violence article - that's better sourced now from me asking difficult questions. So I do think that the editors at the LGBT wikiproject will close ranks but I'd think the same of the gundam project or the House project or the Newcastle FC wikiproject. Don't confuse that to mean I think that those issues have an equal *importance* to a LGBT or other civil rights issues in a real world context but that the nature of people forming sub-organisational groupings such as wikiprojects lends itself to the development of cultures which start to think "this is how we do thinks here". Where I think it's slightly more problematical with emotive issues such as race, civil rights or the LGBT experience is that, by their very nature, they tend to attract people who a) are strongly affected by the issues or b) are homophobes, racists etc and the two tend to butt heads. Am I saying that I'm a homophobe or a bigot - no - but I know I am a blunt rude prick, so I can understand the confusion... --Cameron Scott (talk) 19:25, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

You're one of us, whether you realize it or not. ;] - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 20:01, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Interesting. Yes, Cameron, there is a need for different viewpoints, otherwise debate becomes a kind of warm fuzzy fest, with everyone agreeing, nodding their heads, and not really looking at issues. And that is clearly more comfortable. Some of what I have learned in life (life experience) is the result of others disagreeing with me, or bumping into reality walls, which forces self appraisal and growth. We don't grow and develop unless we expand our comfort boundaries and learn what doesn't work, and that goes for editing articles and debating them here as well. Good comments about the existence of cabals. I think that there are POV warriors that come here and try to slant articles, and groups of articles, one way or the other. Including commercial article, and controversial and hot button political, sexuality, and religious related articles. And despite that fact they they may not belong to a Wikiproject, they are effectively cabals also. These are facts of life. However, one of the marks of a good editor is to recognize that one brings cultural and experiential biases and filters to the table, and to then do one's best to overcome them. It's not easy, as our culture tends to value competition and winning above all else. See Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing. This is why I value editing here, as it tends to encourage editors more toward collaborative and consensus building efforts. If they are willing. Clearly there are multiple forces at work here. — Becksguy (talk) 12:41, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nuvola

The "relist" tag is added whenever an AFD is extended for another 7 days. It doesn't require that the AFD be "closed" or "delisted". It's standard practice to use this tag when extending a discussion and if you view any AFD log such as this one you will see numerous discussions with the same tag. See Wikipedia:Deletion_process#Relisting_discussions for more information. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 02:17, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Naomi King

Let me start by thanking you for your contributions to the Category:LGBT_articles_with_unsourced_categories. You'r doing a great job!

Please see User_talk:Debresser#Naomi_King where I had a short conversation with one of the editors of this article about the LGBT category. I argued - contrary to you - that her being gay herself might not be sufficiently established. I propose to continue the conversation there. Debresser (talk) 10:39, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

This subject has been dealt with by another user, who provided a reference to her personal webpage where she says she is gay.

Might I point out to you that there is still one more article waiting for sources in this category? Debresser (talk) 11:38, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I am unable to find anything. While all the signs are there as to his involvement in the LGBT community and him being highly regarded in LGBT related film, there's just nothing that says "this person is gay and out". I'd suggest removing the any related categories. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 18:38, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
That was my problem also. So technically you are right, and the cat should be removed. Personally I dislike removing unsourced information when I feel it is true, just because it is unsourced. In such cases I implement the old Jewish saying: sit and do nothing. Debresser (talk) 18:29, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I believe there should be much more information available to expand the section and eventually fork it out as stand alone article. So far I haven't been able to get anyone to lend a hand. Hi, regarding the Homosexual Equality Rally in London 1974 etc.

I have inserted a pruned version of the article into the main text on the article for the Campaign for Homosexual Equality in the appropriate place, and once I got rid of the rhetoric it was substantially smaller. So, the original one can go, or be used to redirect.

I have created a draft page for the 1971 GLF action at the 'Festival of Light', and it is here: GLF 1971 Festival of Light zap.

Could you have a quick look over it, see if it looks OK, and if you and Benji are OK with it, I will create a new article for it. Thanks Mish (talk) 23:27, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

It looks ok to me except for the lede.. someone will no doubt have an issue with that intro. WP:PEACOCK. Also, I fixed the license issue on the image you uploaded at commons, File:Ink glf cover.jpg. BTW, if you haven't notified Bluemarine and Durova (as his mentor) of the SPI case about him, you probably should. :) LadyofShalott 16:31, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

I've notified Durova. As his mentor, she can notify him. I imagine she will have to proxy for him since he's still banned and therefore technically, while not blocked, unable to edit anywhere, including the SI page. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 16:45, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, OK. I just didn't see it on their talk pages; that's why I said something. :) LadyofShalott 16:52, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
No probs. Yeah, it's in the ANI thread towards the top. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 18:25, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fred Martinez

I did indeed weigh the arguments as appropriate. –Juliancolton | Talk 02:56, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

thanks for the kind remarks, would an inclusion of material from the journal article [2] be worth it? pohick (talk) 01:44, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Kind remarks where and what article are you referring to. I'm afraid I am confused by your comment here. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 03:06, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Mississippi

I know I've felt like you probably do now, that you're the only one with any brains. I've found that the only thing that helps is ignoring it for a few days, then returning and rereading the discussions. If you still feel you're the only one that's right...oh well, you can't win them all --NE2 15:45, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

attack on LP removed

I have removed an attack on a living person. Please do not re-add it. ViridaeTalk 05:20, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

That's been on my userpage for well over a year, maybe even close to 2 years now, and has nothing to do with his or my interaction here on Wikipedia. Besides, it's not an attack, it's a comment I made around that time. People found it funny and quoted it elsewhere at the time so I preserved it here via a quotebox. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 05:50, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Thankyou for changing that. ViridaeTalk 12:58, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

ThankSpam

My RfA

Thank you for participating in my "RecFA", which passed with a final tally of 153/39/22. There were issues raised regarding my adminship that I intend to cogitate upon, but I am grateful for the very many supportive comments I received and for the efforts of certain editors (Ceoil, Noroton and Lar especially) in responding to some issues. I wish to note how humbled I was when I read Buster7's support comment, although a fair majority gave me great pleasure. I would also note those whose opposes or neutral were based in process concerns and who otherwise commented kindly in regard to my record.
I recognise that the process itself was unusual, and the format was generally considered questionable - and I accept that I was mistaken in my perception of how it would be received - but I am particularly grateful for those whose opposes and neutrals were based in perceptions of how I was not performing to the standards expected of an administrator. As much as the support I received, those comments are hopefully going to allow me to be a better contributor to the project. Thank you. Very much. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:47, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, back to the office it is...

U2 and IPs

I just declined a bunch of your taggings on IP talk pages. Please note that U2 does specifically exclude IP addresses. If someone left an incorrect sock-template on such pages, just blank them instead. Regards SoWhy 20:49, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

User:One/Title

About that thing, do you still have problems with that? I mean: you said something like: "it's broken again", but the effect template now works fine on me (here is a screenshot of how it looked like before the last edit, ovelrapping to the upper side). As you can see, we both have firefox, so if you have that error when I don´t, well, that´s weird.

Just to be sure: Do you have that problem just now? (when I don´t)

Anyway, sorry for the inconvenience, I couldn´t be aware of the existence of this strange problem, I hope we could fix it as soon as possible. - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._ΞΞΞ_ . --  22:31, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Well... I´m not sure, but I think it´s broken (see that there is also a userbox (this user has two words for homophobes) overlaping the main image).
p.s. Can you see the typeface of my signature? (it should look like this).
p.p.s. You can use my shoutbox, as a gift (the source code in your page if you want). - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._ΞΞΞ_ . --  04:47, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
