Happy New Year =) - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 14:11, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

A cupcake for you!

Came across some of your posts from arbitration and other discussions from a decade ago. Want to express appreciation and admiration for your continued involvement in the project, especially since those efforts began at a time when Wikipedia was (in comparison to its current state) a fledgling operation. Take care! SecretName101 (talk) 02:47, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello!

Hi Allie! Just a quick note to say hello! Been a long time. x Miss Bono [hello, hello!] 19:25, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

How do I cite these sources?

There are tons of bare references on the Harvard-MIT Mathematics Tournament linking to some web pages. I want to fill in the bare references but don't know how. Could you help me? Laundry Machine (talk) 04:11, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Taleb reverts

I am very disappointed to see you edit war without responding to my clearly stated objections to the content as you insist on reinstating it in the article. It's undue because (as noted, explained, etc.) the two authors are not knowledgeable experts who have the understanding to evaluate whether Taleb "predicted" such events. The meaning of "predicted" is not defined either in the article or in the sources -- and although you may not be familiar with the issues that "prediction" entails in this context, I assure you they are numerous and complex. Finally "he is credited with..." in Wikipedia's voice, without telling our readers the authors are an op-ed political pundit and a British fiction writer who dabbles in newspaper work is indeed WP:WEASEL -- and rather egregiously so.

I'm at a loss to understand why you would edit-war this stuff with a derisive/dismissive edit summary rather than engaging on talk to establish your reasons and also to help focus this article on a better-sourced and more encyclopedic treatment of Taleb's work. And among other things, it sets the example (with your snarky edit summary, of endorsing or enabling the other editor's dismissive abuse of Rollback to do the same thing you just did. @NeilN: in case he's interested. SPECIFICO talk 01:15, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

If you were not aware, or did not believe me when I stated on the article talk page that the Medium is a self-publishing platform, you can easily verify that by following the link to RSN that I provided to {{ping|Limit-Theorem]] on the article talk page. SPECIFICO talk 03:03, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

With all due respect, SPECIFICO, having known Alison for many years, I can say without fear of contradiction that she is not dismissive nor does she engage in edit warring. Quis separabit? 16:20, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Welcome back, Alison

I know you're largely retired but nice to see you make a guest appearance. (By the way, "Leave a message, go on. I love getting those orange things" is outdated -- they are no longer orange, and I used to hate getting them for reasons you can imagine if you can remember far enough back!) I miss you.

I have no idea why or when I ever watchlisted Dunshaughlin but somehow I am glad I did. How is Silicon Alley dealing with the sturm und drang going on at Facebook? Quis separabit? 16:20, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Unblock my page please

Alison, please unblock my page. I’m Flowerdoodle. You deleted my page 5 years ago. Not sure why. Flowerdoodle (talk) 22:20, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

  • Nothing seems to be blocked, from what I can see. And your page was deleted some years ago, because some editor called Zoinx accidentally left a message there, instead of your talk page. There was nothing on it, so feel free to go ahead and re-create it - Alison 05:27, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

Regarding inappropriate edit

Hello Alison, Greetings!
Could you please have a check on the edit (Link) done by IP address: 27.57.169.126 user. The translation of the abusive content which is in Hindi language, goes like this: Link. Isn't the IP eligible for a block?
Thank you, --Gpkp (talk) 06:28, 9 June 2018 (UTC)

  • Hi there. It's basically editorialism. It's inappropriate, but not block-worthy. Best thing is to revert it and followup with the anon editor. If they persist, then an admin can maybe step in. But just not yet! - Alison 07:01, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
Ok, thank you, Alison.

I am Dark Mistress from three or 4 years ago.

I have forgot the password to it. I stopped changing Wikipedia since then, despite the fact I still view the site. I know for certain that the older account has no email with it. I do not know if it is possible to get it back, but I can give evidence of it being me. I am however not willing to create a new account yet. How do I get it back? I can give an older password that I used but not the current one. --70.35.188.218 (talk) 18:47, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

Realised, thanks to talking to Bishonen, that I should be sending it to ArbCom, not to random admins basically asking "could you block this person?". If you see my e-mail, please delete it - I intend to send it to ArbCom. Lolifan (talk) 21:14, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Merry Merry

  Happy Christmas!
Hello Alison,
Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that

Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"

My thanks to you for your efforts to keep the 'pedia readable in case the firemen chose one of our articles :-) Best wishes to you and yours and happy editing in 2019. MarnetteD|Talk 07:46, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
