Wikipedia's Expert Peer Review process (or lack of such) for Science related articles

Hi - I posted the section with the same name on my talk page. Could you take part in discussion ?

User: Shotwell suggested (on my talk page) "I would endorse a WP:EXPERTADVICE page that outlined the wikipedia policies and goals for researchers in a way that enticed them to edit here in an appropriate fashion. Perhaps a well-maintained list of expert editors with institutional affiliation would facilitate this sort of highly informal review process. I don't think anyone would object to a well-maintained list of highly-qualified researchers with institutional affiliation (but then again, everyone seems to object to something)."

We could start with that if you would agree ... - could you help to push his idea through Wikipedia bureaucracy ?

In my view people nominated as "expert reviewers" should be willing not to hide under the veil of anonymity. They should be able to demonstrate some level of the verifiable accomplishment / recognition in the domain of professional science . BTW, I do not see any reason why the anonymity of editors on Wikipedia is considered to be a "good thing". Above is my general opinion, so please don't take my statement personally. There is obviously a choice given for everyone in Wikipedia either to act "in open" or to hide behind meaningless assumed pseudonym and I accept this situation. BTW, I do understand current Wikipedia concept that in order to produce good Wikipedia science article, one does not need to be a professional scientist ... - that is fine with me ... But I propose to have (at least optionally) ability to review/qualify such article by the professional scientist. Cheers, Apovolot (talk) 15:09, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Alison's currently on a long term wikibreak so probably won't be participating :) SirFozzie (talk) 16:58, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Wikipeire

Hello Alison,

Wikipeire has been back with his nonsence again. I'm not expecting anything (amazingly!), I just know you've been involved and might want to be notified about User:EditTors, User:Ιρλανδία and User:Zzzzzozzzzz. Each one pleas innocent everytime I zap em. :) --Jza84 |  Talk  01:07, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Please, you could translate in Irish Gealic the articles Martin Weinek and Kaspar Capparoni? Thank you so much!

Good evening to you and regards from Campora San Giovanni. I write you regarding the articles of a note police television series: Kommissar Rex. For better saying some principal actors of the international series. Martin Weinek and Kaspar Capparoni. Weinek is the veteran of the Austrian series, now real member of the series international, as well as excellent agricultural and theatrical entrepreneur and an experienced wine-grower. Capparoni is the new entry of the series, but he has already worked and he works for international productions and with famous directors, I quote among everybody: Dario Argento. I think that the series will arrive within the winter 2008 thanks also to Rai International, that will be transmitted in 150 countries and in more than 70/80 languages, among which the Irish Gaelic. Naturally if you will help me in this, i rechanged really the favor translating a biography or a geographical article in Italian and Sicilian. In fact on the Italian edition they are biographer and geographer. In attends him of one certain answer of yours I thank you in advance and I greet you from Campora San Giovanni, my village native. Thanks still for the patience and the understanding.

P.S. Has a little been served as GiulioLopez, could you lengthen it out of politeness? If I don't ask too much, could you also write them in Scottish? Thanks still for the understanding!--Lodewijk Vadacchino (talk) 20:46, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Please see her userpage. Alison is on wikibreak, and may or may not even see your note. You may want to find someone else to help you. J.delanoygabsadds 20:53, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Seattlehawk94

Can you point me to where Seattlehawk94 was found a sock of Derek? I've looked around a little for the relevant part (I take your words to mean that a checkuser determined this), but I can't find anywhere that such a connection was made. Nyttend (talk) 15:21, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Elizabeth Morgan

I unprotected Elizabeth Morgan per a strange but amusing RFUP request. There has been immediate action on the article. If I screwed the beagle on this one, please feel free to revert/reprotect. Tan | 39 01:34, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Before you go?...

Hello Alison,

I've seen the Wikibreak notices, but I could really do with a tiny tiny favour (it's actually quite large!) before you go. Wikipéire (talk · contribs) (I know! - please don't run a mile!), is back with a bang at the moment. He's really gaming the system and I need some expert assistance to try and curtail the distruption.

I want to put together a list of ip's that Wikipeire has used, and a list of those that a possible for him to use, and add it to Wikipeire's user page. I got the idea from looking at User:Irate.

I've copied it over to User:Jza84/Sandbox2 but it needs filling in, I'm not sure how to take it from there. Could you possibly help at all? I really want to manage Wikipeire's dustruption off Wikipedia and I'm finding there is only limited help avaliable because of his ip abuse. --Jza84 |  Talk  14:02, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Pleeeease......

...remember to disable Grawp's talk page access or salt his pages when you block him. He's still pulling the 2MB unblock request crap that causes Firefox to die. Thanks, Alison! Hersfold (t/a/c) 00:59, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

WP:AN#Indefinitely semi-protected user talk pages

Hi
Just FYI, I mentioned you user talk page at WP:AN#Indefinitely semi-protected user talk pages since it's one of a great number of indef semi protected user talk pages. I'm explicitly not complaining or reporting, yours just happened to be one that I used as an example, since it's in principle against WP:SEMI.

ANI discussion on unblocking Plyjacks, seeking your input

I have started a WP:ANI discussion to unblock Plyjacks. He has been on good behavior for 2 months; checkuser has confirmed that he has stopped socking. Since you handled the blocking of a few of his socks in the past, I thought it prudent to ask if you would like to comment. Thanks! --Jayron32.talk.contribs 19:11, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

I want to thank you Jayron32 and Alison for letting me back on wikipedia. I now know that creating sockpuppets can cause serious consequences. So I have learned a valuble lesson. Plyjacks (talk) 03:04, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Kristen Eriksen

There's currently a discussion on Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#Inappropriate_block concerning the blocking of Kristen Eriksen, whether you recently checkusered this account, and what results you found. Clarification of this situation would be much appreciated. Thanks. John254 00:31, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for semi-protecting creation on User talk:68.79.97.215. The kiddies' stupidity was getting waaaaaay out of hand. :) -Kgasso (talk) 06:52, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Socks and banned User

Good evening,

I have some socks and banned-User here around you have to care of. Please have a look on PakistaniNisar, KoonWoz, Bootcamps, 142.204.235.180, 99.245.115.47, 67.208.6.95 and Alexanderofaryana. They are all vandalizing on nearly every article and paste POVs, but not only that. Some of them (if they are not related with eachother or use Proxies) are already banned from Wikipedia.--Šāhzādé (talk) 17:08, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I want to add User:202.4.4.25 and User:84.9.44.6--Šāhzādé (talk) 21:25, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Šāhzādé, you should open a case at WP:SUSPSOCK or WP:RFCU if you want to pursue this, if possible along with more concrete evidence (diffs), since Alison is on Wikibreak and might not respond to this (just like her editnotice said). Cheers, AmaltheaTalk 21:34, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
I also note that one user on your list has similar concerns about your account, so you might want to think twice before you start throwing stones. --AmaltheaTalk 21:38, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm just running out the door, so I cannot do the proper research, but User:Šāhzādé appears to be a sockpuppet of someone usually involved in these pages. Kingturtle (talk) 21:54, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
