"Malformed report"

Hi :) Regarding Special:Diff/894910621, as far as I remember, normal reports for revoking talk page access quickly get removed as "already blocked" by the helperbot. Has this changed or is there a better way to create such reports? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:51, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice, and I may need to try again next time, but would you really have noticed Special:Diff/877335988 in the 8 seconds that the report was visible? A /64 subnet on an IPv6 address is allocated to a single user (in most cases) and blocking the /64 is no different than blocking a single IPv4 IP with regard to collateral (again, in most cases). Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

All entries in that page (May 17) do not have direct references, but they are all pointing to articles, that a) make the subject notable, and b) the articles contain the proper references. @Billybridge: No, it is not. Autobiographies are strongly discouraged. Writing about yourself is a serious conflict of interest[. If you are notable and there are reliable sources, someone in time will write an article, but you should not be the one to do it. In fact, your userpage is already in violation. We take this as self-advertisement and Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place for promotion. In a nutshell Wikipedia is not about you, and an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. @MasisaM: The page you are referring to was Draft:Antonio Gaidon. It was deleted per CSD G12, a copyright violation of a website for this subject on treccani.it which clearly stats the material is copyrighted. The site is in Italian, but even a translation of it would still be copyrighted. If you can contribute material for this subject, please start a draft and have it reviewed. RE: Did Dua Lipa REALLY Modeled Before Being a Musician?

You may or may not be familiar with her work but I had done this to MaranoFan's page back in April, s/he replied back to me that subject wasn't notable for that profession and ethnicity (Albanian born in Great Britain two days and three years after Demi Lovato and five months before Hennessy Carolina Cardi B's younger sister) cannot be included in opening sentence.

Took this to Lil-Unique1's page unfortunately no replies came in. So was she REALLY a fashion model to the likes of the Jenner sisters before becoming a singer/songwriter like in the leading sentence "English singer songwriter and retired fashion model" even though she is just 23.

And lastly, if you edited before the date(s) of 21 August 2015 researching her will come back with a did not match any documents message.

Is this indef block of Onebigmonkey (talk · contribs) not a bit hasty?

They're a GF editor. The 62.60.63.139 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) who reverted their addition said as much. They have made one edit, to add an inlined EL to Bart Sibrel.

Now, was that a good edit? Maybe not. It's unlikely to pass WP:RS – but only because they're not high profile enough. If Brian Cox tweeted the same content, they'd be lauded for it. And yet it's a detailed analysis which precisley refutes Sibrel's claim – a goal which we're exactly in line with. Also, we're not required to meet WP:RS on every source used.

Was it misformatted? Of course. But that's easily fixable. Was it COI? Spam? Maybe. They added a link to their own site, no question. And yet, this was a long way from the pay-per-link commercial spammers we have a problem with. Spammers who we certainly can't get an immediate indef on, even when one is obviously required! Were any warnings issued first? Was there any attempt to discuss anything with this editor first? No.

This does not justify an indef. Not for a single incident. Not for that change. Neither aspect justifies it. Please reconsider this block. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:49, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

@Steven Crossin: It was an advertisement for their company that matches the username. I realize now the original deletion reason was in error and fixed it. Tell them they have a notice in their user page explaining the reason for their block and how to go about requesting an unblock or change of name. Also please explain the rules against advertising and if they are employees of the company they must register and declare as paid editors which is mandatory and they failed to do. Yep, thanks, I figured as much and already did so - I asked for an excerpt from them and it was pretty clear advertising. Guided them to ask for a rename/unblock if they wanted to try editing once more under a new name, the notability/COI policy, and the article draft process so they could propose an article and be independently reviewed by someone else. Quick question

Hi Alexf, I noticed something strange with a declined speedy you did. Your declined speedies are set to go to a namespace list, e.g. User:Example/List of declined speedies. As currently configured, they go to User:Wifione's namespace, namely User:Wifione/List of declined speedies. Is this intentional? Maybe a bug with the script you're using? If your declined speedies are meant to go there, no worries. I figure you'd want it in your namespace. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention if it wasn't intentional. Deletion of Parliamentary Candidate for Next Election

User Alexf, deleted the entry for the Brexit Party's PPC in the Constituency of Esher and Walton, entered by user:axel Thill. These entries for upcoming election where started by Lib dems, now done by Conservatives, but only Brexit Party gets deleted. This must be against neutrality of Wikipedia. Axel Thill is official Prospective Candidate of the Brexit Party, and should have the right to be mentioned here. Please undo the deletion. You are incorrect. The edit in question was you spamming your own name. This is a conflict of interest and a violation or the external links rules. Please review those. Nobody said "there is no right to be there" as you put it. Just follow the rules. The blocking notice was clear and detailed in explaining the reasons and what to do about it. There are several reasons actually. A blatant username violation, a serious conflict of interest. On top of that you are admitting working for them (another COI issue), and have not declared the mandatory relation.
