The article was duly removed. It did not pass WP:WEB and WP:N. It was also a serious case of COI. Please read the linked pages and about citing reliable sources to understand. Hi. I notice you speedy deleted an article, Power Le Poer Trench, with the rationale "A10: Recently created article that duplicates an existing topic". A couple of minor points on that action. The DNB text I added was not a duplicate, it was a significant expansion, and it had a significant history, my minor copy edit would not be trivial to a new editor. The problem was being discussed, but it cannot be assumed I would work out where my version went; advising editors of deletion is appropriate. I'll also note that no source has been provided for the earlier article's title "William Power le Poer Trench", though the rationale was something about 'Common name' the variant was not forthcoming [1] ... I'll check that again with the editor, but I assume it was their error that caused the duplication of topic. I understand the solution is a to perform a history merge, unless there is a reason to hide revisions, I can explain how to do that if you like. cygnis insignis 03:21, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

I placed the A10 tag at the top of the article created Cygnis insignis because there can't be two Wikipedia biography articles about the same person, even if the text is different. The older article was titled William Trench (archbishop) (created by me) and the newer article was titled Power Le Poer Trench (created by Cygnis insignis, and cut and pasted from Trench, Power Le Poer (DNB00)). The new article has been deleted and the older one was moved and took its place. The older article did/does have sources before any recent changes this month, see here, they were/are in the References section. Scrivener-uki (talk) 18:20, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

That's what I saw and understood when I looked at the speedy request. Should there be a need to merge, I could userfy the article but I would not be able to do the merge for lack of time, and specific knowledge on the subject. I would find it convenient to restore history, and I'm pretty sure there is no objection. I mean restore the history, not the article. The user copy pasted the DNB version I added into the pre-existing, probably wrongly named, article. Leaving the current version is fine, it is virtually the same text. Sorry about that. Forgot about it. As you may have seen, I've been out of WP for a few days due to overload of work. I have not had time to get back to my WP projects, nor to check online as often as I normally do. I have to get back to this issue (am at work now so little time). As I remember seeing it, I can't restore because the name has been already re-used, so I'm unsure on how to proceed, what is requested. I think it best you do this, because it will shed light on what you appear to not understand—a trivial example of an important principle—and allow you to correct this sort of thing if it comes up again. I don't have the tool to fix your error, please ask someone else to explain it to you and fix it.

The user was blocked in November, then apologized and requested an unblock which was granted, then back at it again and re-blocked. Apologies are not enough. User has to follow the instructions in the blocking message and request an unblock specifying the reasons why s/he will help the project in the future. Graham is linked on this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salesian_School,_Chertsey and his life/work does meet the criteria for entry.

You are suggesting that this article contained copyrighted material when I already left a note on the article explaining who I am and that I have full permission of Graham Wilmer to use the information as source and cross referenced as citation with links. Please will you remove this block on the page as it is not justified.

The article mentioned is a horrible bot-made translation from the same Spanish-lang Wikipedia article, I have used as a source. The article was full of original research and had no reliable sources whatsoever. Read about biographies of living persons and what is expected of them. You seem to have a conflict of interest also which is not viewed kindly. As I said, I am not a reviewer, nor a copy editor. On a very quick look it looks better and has more sources (haven't had time to follow them to check). One thing is, you should work on it in a subpage not your Talk page which is not for creation of articles but reserved for talking with other editors. The article, at the time of your tagging, already asserted notability by the number of historical societies (up to at least a state level) that had recognized the significance of the place. Fluxion(artist) - Fast deletion G11

Hi Alex, I've contributed an article on the electronic composer Fluxion. I didn't even had the the time to make any additions or corrections, and it disappeared, after marked for fast deletion under the G11 rule. This article wasn't spam or promotional, it gave some basic background information on a music artist around, for 13 years, with a big catalogue of releases, considered one of the important names of the electronic music scene. So if I have to make some alterations additions, and use also some other articles written, I agree. I need to have my article retrieved, to work on it. So please inform me on how we proceed.

You should not add a redlink entry to a list. You should write the article first. If the subject is notable and passes muster by the community, then an entry to a list could follow. I was tasked the privilege of creating a wikipedia page for my company's flagship website. We are an adult website. We are very prominent in the international community of colleagues we support and do business with. As you could imagine, we often run across a considerable amount of resistance when attempting to include ourselves in many of the online resources available to so many other corporations. I believe a factual, non-spam, account of our rich company history could reside on Wikipedia. As I started to set up the page, I was informed that a previous article, not submitted by myself, or any existing member of our company, was deleted. The Article was For Orgasm.com, and as I begin to conceive another page and familiarize myself with this vast space of information, I am feeling hyper-sensitive about adapting to the etiquette and co-operative nature of the established protocol regarding my contribution. As the initial article was deleted by yourself, I am feeling inclined to contact you, as the Deleting Editor, and beseech you to please inform me of any indiscretions you may remember the original page committing in order that I may avoid sullying my intentions of creating a new page. I have no recollection of that article as I delete literally thousands of articles in violation of rules every month as part of my admin duties. I would have to look through the database to recall, which I can't do now as I am at work and don't have the time. In any case, it is probably not important to look at the original article as it would almost surely have been deleted as one of three cases, which you should be advised to learn about and follow the rules: lack of notability, advertising or promotional in nature, or copyright violation. Either one of these three issues will lead to a speedy deletion. If you are a new editor, it will help you to learn about the Five Pillars and to look at the Business FAQ. I'm a bit concerned at the blocking of User:Himrights. I'd like to be reassured that this isn't a matter of over-aggressive Wikipolicing directed at an enthusiastic non-English native language novice. I have the impression (granted that's all it is) that an enthusiastic novice has inadvertently infringed the Wikipedia rules and then not jumped instantly when ordered to. User:Himrights was asking for advice from User:VernoWhitney only today. His/her organisation is a perfectly reputable NGO (Soros Open Society Institute grantee, etc.). It was a clear violation of the username policy. The user has a group name and wrote an article for the same organization stating: "Himalayan Human Rights Monitors (HimRights) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit organization" and at the end of the article: "copyright www.himrights.org". It seems to me as a clear violation of policy. What opportunity was given to this editor - who as I say had sought early advice from User:VernoWhitney about the copyright situation - to respond? Miami Beach LGBT Community

Some of the edits you have made seem to have been done merely to support the point of view that Miami Beach's gay community has "began [sic] a steady descent [sic]." This is not a statement of fact. It would seem you, and maybe a few other people, have some particular axe to grind. Neither I, nor any of the other Miami Beach residents with whom I have discussed this, find this "gays are all leaving" narrative to be accurate.

I have contacted the Mayor's office and the head of the Gay & Lesbian Chamber of commerce about the unfairness of what's been showing up in Wikipedia regarding the LGBT community of Miami Beach. They have said it's a perennial problem. Someone(s) seems to have a particular axe to grind, and it is getting in the way of their being objective and fair.

The truth is, the City of Miami Beach is making significant strides in reaching out to LGBT tourists, and continues to an enormously popular destination for gay tourists. We have a pro-gay mayor, and pro-gay laws. In my version of edits, I referenced this information, and then it seems you deleted it. Why? In its place, it appears you re-added the information about a now-defunct radio station that's hardly relevant information to include. There is now a hugely popular and successful Miami Beach Gay Pride weekend, which attracts tens of thousands of people. Many, many gay people live here, and they continue to come here from all over the world. It's not exactly the same as it was in the 1980's and 1990's, but that doesn't mean gay people are leaving. There are greater numbers of people here, period, so perhaps gays comprise a smaller PERCENTAGE of the larger population. But we're definitely still here. And the gay community is now much more INTEGRATED into the larger community...we're not as ghettoized as we once were. A handful of sensationalist news reports of the death of gay Miami Beach have been greatly exaggerated. It's almost as if some people WANT to drive away the gay population, by spreading false rumors.

I had included referenced data to support what I'm saying, which it seems you removed. Why?

If a handful of anti-Miami-Beach folks continue to try to malign the community here, there is the risk it will create a self-fulfilling prophesy. The LGBT fundraisers (many of which my friends and I volunteer for and contribute to), which raise critical funds for ALL of South Florida LGBT groups, will suffer.

The truth is, many of us are working hard to build a stronger LGBT community here. We have a lot of support from City government and straight allies. Why do a few people seem to want to belittle what we're doing, and cause harm to the image of Miami Beach?

The truth is, Miami Beach remains a great place to be gay. Gays here are, like in any American city, subject to occasional homophobia, and that needs to be taken seriously, just as it should be anywhere. But Miami Beach is not uniquely homophobic. To suggest that gays are leaving (or have all left, as an earlier version seemed to suggest) is unfair and ludicrous.

I hope I can count on your help in correcting the inaccurate information about Miami Beach's LGBT community.

I must be mistaken. I mis-read and thought you were the one removing my text; in fact, it appears to be the opposite. You reverted back to what I wrote. My sincere apologies to you.

If I'm reading the edit history correctly, it appears that an anonymous user keeps making these kinds of changes, essentially removing any positive information about the LGBT community of Miami Beach, and including only information to support a narrative that Miami Beach is a homophobic place. Some of the earlier edits (about a month ago) were simply absurd. As I wrote about above, the Mayor's Office and the head of the Miami Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce have both told me this is a recurring problem. Is there anything that can be done stop the biased person from continuing to re-add the (poorly referenced) edits?

I have a sincere desire to present accurate information, including information that might be construed as "bad publicity" for Miami Beach. However, all the information needs to be presented in the proper context, and with proper balance. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.

Have you read the notice posted in your talk page? It explains it clearly, especially the part that says: "deletion under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time." I can't say for others, other than they were not written by themselves in most cases. I've no idea on your sport or yourself. Just being a professional (e.g. doing this for a living) does not make you notable by itself. If you have won established awards then you are probable notable enough and somebody will write about you. We prefer not to have autobiographies.
