Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Thanks for fixing the error I made converting "Phoenix" to "Wright". Having never played the game (or any other!), I had no idea. I think you are right. In the world of fiction we can operate by different rules. Twofingered Typist (talk) 12:59, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Twofingered Typist: No worries! It is not like "Wright" is wrong, either - I just find "Phoenix" more appropriate in this context. Thanks for your work on the article, it's greatly appreciated.--Alexandra IDVtalk 13:14, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
I completely agree "Phoenix" is more appropriate. I'm done the c/e for now. I wonder if you would mind deciphering this from the Nintendo DS section, if you can?:
- Takumi wanted it to link up with Edgeworth's disappearance in the second game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Justice for All, so he thought about what thing would be the most damaging to Edgeworth's psyche. He decided on corruption and betrayal from within the prosecutor's office, despite the seriousness of the topic. The character Jake Marshall was created as a parallel to Godot, in an analogy between the Skye sisters and the Fey sisters.
In itself this makes no sense to me and it doesn't line up with the description of the fifth episode in the Plot section. Any ideas? If not I will follow up with the person who requested the c/e. Thanks again. Cheers - Twofingered Typist (talk) 13:46, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
- I think the problem may stem from how it's difficult to summarize the Ace Attorney games' narratives, as each game contains 4-5 episodes rather than one single story, meaning a lot of information gets cut in our synopses. Unfortunately, it's been years since the last time I played "Rise from the Ashes", so it's hard for me to recall the plot. The Jake Marshall analogy - wow, this character really needs to be mentioned in the plot summary - is a separate thing from the police corruption, and refers to Godot, a prosecutor appearing in the third Ace Attorney game (which originally came out before the first game's DS version).
- @Twofingered Typist: (forgot to ping you)--Alexandra IDVtalk 16:43, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Alexandra IDV: Thanks for this! I'll take it up with the requestor. Clearly more work to be done! Twofingered Typist (talk) 19:49, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
Terry Bogard
What do you think of the article Terry Bogard? I think it lacks creation information about his original form (we only have Garou, KOF and SNK Heroines) as well as a copyedit. By the way, don't references 63 and 64 require the title of the episode? I tried searching everywhere but I couldn't find anything about his creation.Tintor2 (talk) 14:19, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Tintor2: I haven't actually read through the entire article and am not super familiar with Terry (I don't play fighting games much, and just found the inclusion of a female Terry in SNK Heroines interesting), but I'll try to make time to take a closer look at it tonight. What I can immediately say is that the reception section needs copy-editing. It is extremely long and largely in an "Outlet A said B. Outlet C said D. Outlet E said F." format.--Alexandra IDVtalk 16:22, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think the reception was added one by one as some SNK characters used to get little reception. I did try separating the last two paragraphs by Terry's role in spinoff and the reaction to his female form (kind of like how I reorganized Kazuya Mishima as well as some Devil May Cry characters). You think Jill Valentine is a good example to follow?Tintor2 (talk) 17:00, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
- By the way, I took your advice and tried rearranging Kyo Kusanagi's reception to separate character, gameplay and other media.Tintor2 (talk) 17:19, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
Hi you left this in your edit summary when recreating the above article. "I understand that it could be unclear at first, for people who didn't read the news - I have now added an entry for Judge Eyes to the Yakuza series page now, however, and am now redirecting this to that sub-section specifically.".
You should not expect people to have read anything elsewhere than in Wikipedia to understand why you have created a redirect. A redirect that is not mentioned in the target is of very little use unless it is a misspelling. Someone who had read the news and followed this redirect to the article would expect to find some mention of it there, I searched and there was no mention of Judge or Judge Eyes hence my nomination for CSD and its deletion.
As per WP:RPURPOSE a redirect of this kind is for "Sub-topics or other topics which are described or listed within a wider article. (Such redirects are often targeted to a particular section of the article.)". To avoid confusion and a certain amount of work for new pages reviewers and admin it is preferable to do as you have now done and create the sourced mention in the target before creating the redirect. Cheers --Dom from Paris (talk) 00:41, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Domdeparis: Yes, I realize that I should've checked that it was mentioned in the series article first - I apologize for creating extra work for other editors, it was not my intention.--Alexandra IDVtalk 00:56, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
- No problem I just wasn't sure from your edit summary if you meant that it shouldn't have been nominated for deletion or not. Cheers. Dom from Paris (talk) 01:00, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for the copyedit on the article, it's been too long since I've written one of these. It's greatly appreciated.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 11:38, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Kung Fu Man: No problem! It's a fun article subject, so it's quite enjoyable to work on it.--Alexandra IDVtalk 11:39, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Famitsu coverage:
I decided to remake the page for Hoshi Wo Miru Hito. Reviewing the deletion discussion, you suggested it might have not been reviewed by Famitsu due to it not having a score in the online database. However, the JP Wikipedia records a Famitsu score of 19 out of 40 and I've seen blog posts which show pages from Famitsu's and other magazine previews of the game. Another blog post contains a later Famitsu Famicom review catalogue, and the review score of the game, plus a short summary of their review. The Famitsu database is finicky, and lists some games but not others. I don't know why. So sources exist, but they're mostly Japanese. Harizotoh9 (talk) 02:33, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
- Cool cool. I don't actually remember this article or deletion discussion, but yeah, if you can find sources, that's great.--Alexandra IDVtalk 02:36, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
Just be aware that famitsu online database is very spotty at best, and a game not being listed is not proof it was never reviewed by Famitsu. Given it's weekly nature, they basically review everything that comes out in Japan. The JP WP was tagged for having too few sources, so it was expanded with several retrospective Japanese books. I've translated the JP page as a new start. Harizotoh9 (talk) 15:14, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's not necessarily a case of "it's not on their database so it wasn't reviewed" and more that we do need to find sources to establish notability.--Alexandra IDVtalk 16:25, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Wraith: The Great War
Hello, there. I think you may be making a faulty assumption of you believe there is a consensus to send non-BLP stubs away from mainspace because they are not yet sourced. The convention has been to add sourcing templates (as you did in your second edit to the page), rather than sending articles to Draft or placing a redirect (as you did the first time). If you feel strongly that this consensus needs to change, we have RfC processes for that. :) Newimpartial (talk) 20:24, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I was not involved in moving it to draft, but regarding the redirecting - the article was extremely barebones, and there's nothing guaranteeing a game an article on Wikipedia. I could have gone to AFD instead, I guess, but there was no reason for me to believe it would meet notability, like most supplement books.--Alexandra IDVtalk 20:34, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry about the edit conflict, but you see the point of my clarification, I hope.
- I am afraid that you and I may disagree on substance, however: any book with two RS reviews meets NBOOK, as this one certainly does; while I personally prefer games to books as the main organizing principle for articles on RPG publications, to me the releases that introduce a fundamentally novel campaign frame for a game, like this one, the roughly contemporaneous Delta Green, or the more recent Dreamhounds of Paris by Robin Laws, are better treated with standalone articles than as inclusions in the game article. YMMV, of course, but in this case the reviews are very easy to find, and I believe there is a Designers & Dragons mention as well. Newimpartial (talk) 20:48, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

PW:AA again
Hello again.
I haven't FAC'd the PW:AA article because I am not sure that the concerns that the copyeditor put on my talk page have been addressed. I am not sure; however, I believe you should have the honor of starting the FAC, because you are the one who has worked the most on that article. Either way, I'm here to ask—is there still more room for improvement? Abequinn14 (talk) 15:37, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
- I probably won't be doing work on PWAA soon, but there for sure is work left to be done on PWAA - I particularly (from memory) think the reception section needs some work, and iirc there are some sources listed on the talk page that can be used for development information (some of the sources are about the AA manga though, and aren't directly usable within this article).--Alexandra IDVtalk 16:05, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Shibito Magire
I apologize for the revert on this game. I didn't know it even was a third installment of the Spirit Hunter series. I looked at the NG title, and I thought it was listed as the Japanese title for some reason. Again, I apologize.
But on another note, the reason why it was 'poorly formatted' was because you used just the normal TBA instead of dtba in the symbols regarding the lists. So that's why I was fixing that. Everyone should know about this particular thing. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 01:26, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
- I really don't think it's reasonable to expect everyone to know that, considering the same list does use
Unreleased
rather than{{Unreleased}}
, for example, but all right.--AlexandraIDV 01:48, 4 January 2020 (UTC)- Its because of page-size limitations, that's the reason why Unreleased is the same, but TBA still is listed as regular when not editing, but can still be seen as with the brackets as dtba. Unreleased can stay without to prevent both pages to exceed limitations. Does this make sense? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 19:51, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

Star Luster
Hey there. I'm in the midst of redoing the article for Namco's Star Luster, hoping that I'll be able to get it to GA status due to its importance and the legacy it has. One of the game's developers talks about the game in an interview for The Untold History of Japanese Video Games Volume 2, which I found while browsing the PDF copy on the Web Archive. I thought it would be great to include in the article but I've noticed it has since been taken down, so I skimmed through the WikiProject Video games reference library and noticed you have a copy of it. Any chance you're able to provide me that excerpt from the book? Sadly I don't remember the specific page number or even the developer who was talking about it, since I simply just found it on the Web Archive's PDF copy. Thanks again. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 20:53, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Namcokid47: I'll take a look later tonight. In the meantime, how do you want me to send you the excerpt? Email, Discord, etc?--AlexandraIDV 21:01, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Email is fine. Thank you. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 21:18, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Namcokid47: Hah, I expected there to be more information, but I guess not, so I might as well just post it here.
- P. 214 (chapter title: "Interview with Professor Yoshihiro Kishimoto") Short mention as part of a longer story about Namco's NES Star Wars game from 1987, where Yoshihiro Kishimoto says he in hindsight wishes the Star Wars game were more like Star Luster, with its 3D-style space battles
- P. 301 (chapter title: "Human Group Interview - all together again") Short mention as part of a longer story about Infinite Space, where Hifumi Kono (right after speculating about how menstruation might make women bad programmers??) calls Star Luster "incredible" and "great" for its 3D and its science fiction gadgets, and cites it, along with Eve Online, as an influence on Infinite Space.
- ...And that's all.--AlexandraIDV 22:18, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Alexandra IDV:Sorry for bothering you right now, but where did you find a .PDF copy of The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers 2?
