Welcome to Wikipedia! edit

Dear Aaronlife,

Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with two hyphens followed by four tildes --~~~~. The software that runs Wikipedia will automatically convert this into a signature which contains your username and the date and time you posted the message, so other users don't get confused.

I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself on your userpage. Please add {{User:PEAR/welcomed}} to your userpage.

Deepwater Sunshine edit

The article Deepwater Sunshine has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This happened because the article seems to be about a person or group of persons but it does not indicate how or why that person or group is notable. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. Hi Aaron. while the salvia song is good, it doesn't qualify under wikipedia's external link guidelines, and is something we have to regard as spam. Sorry, but the band and song really aren't notable, and you aren't supposed to add links to your own site. --heah 17:48, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Spring near pittsfield-1.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:05, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Monokini.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Monokini.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. (ESkog)(Talk) 15:11, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I believe you can save the image in two ways. If you have the permission to use it, please, collect a ticket through this system. If you don't have the appropriate permission required, please, use an appropriate tag from this list. I found image very useful and encyclopedic, and I would like to retain the image for the article. A lot would depend upon the steps you take. Cheers. Aditya(talkcontribs) 16:52, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hangon edit

Hi Aaronlife,

there is no need to add the hangon template where the situation is already taken care of. You added it to a bunch of pictures. Earlier I added the {{PD-1923}} or {{PD-US}} tags to indicate to the automated picture patrollers that it is public domain. If you add {{hangon}} it puts it back on the list of things to delete! It implies that you are going to fix it very soon. When I see it, I allow the tagger to get a few more hours to fix the problem before deleting, that is if it is not an obvious thing to delete! File:Pontoosuc.jpg edit

Hi for File:Pontoosuc.jpg

This does not look to be that old! More like early 1970s. The lettering style looks newish, and waterskiing was not around in early last century. Can you make a better estimate for the date for this one? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:28, 23 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Might be early 70s, but water skiing has been around since the 1920s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:BCE8:8750:A5C1:EA8B:F8F8:C7CD (talk) 02:28, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Deepwater11.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Deepwater11.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 01:57, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Berkshire Museum 1911.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Berkshire Museum 1911.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:25, 24 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:25, 24 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:1958 Convention Brochure - Statistics.jpg. Fair use rationale for File:Monokini.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Monokini.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vanjagenije 18:40, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Good information about Prof. Sugarman in Ice bath edit

What an unusual person. Thanks for adding.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 12:44, 2 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. Yes, very interesting. There is a great deal of information about his winter exploits, including walking a mile barefooted through the snow on a bet, and an interview where he expouses his principles of healthy living, on www.fultonhistory.com. He claimed the ice baths cured him of cartarrh (sinus issues) and he wasn't sick for years. When he finally did get sick, in the summer, it made the news (Prof Sugarman is Ill, Utica Daily Herald, August 10, 1909).

Thank you for uploading File:1991-1992 West Hall Naked Quad Run (back of t-shirt).jpg and for sending in an email to our VRT team. Unfortunately, the permissions received were not sufficient.
