Hey guys, just making sure we're onto of this proposal with all of the absences. I'm currently reading Intraventricular neurocytomas: A systematic review of stereotactic radio surgery and fractionated convention radiotherapy for residual or recurrent tumors, by Roxanna M Garcia and other. I figure we can compare our articles with the stub (pasted above) and figure out what can be updated and what cannot. If there are discrepancies with facts presented, I believe it would be most effective if we use the most current data based on the most recently published articles. Thanks guys and lets get this thing started! 7243HODGSOZ (talk) 21:03, 13 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Garcia et al. Review. (warning: no complete thoughts just bits and pieces that are relevant to what we could use) The article is the first review that compares the efficacy between stereotactic radio surgery (SRS) and fractioned convention radiotherapy (FCRT). there was a minor discrepancy between the percentage of CN of 0.1-0.5% given in the text and the value of 0.25-0.5% on the stub. when i looked at the reference given, they did not analyze as many cases as Garcia et al and is not as up to date as Garcia et al. other than that it is a good introduction to two adjuvant therapeutic strategies. there seems to be a general trend that SRS has a greater efficacy than FCRT. This is based on slightly large values for survival, and lower long term risks associated with SRS treatment. The reviewers did a good job at describing which cases were included or excluded and why. this leads to a very dependable source. The article only looks at Intraventricular neurocytomas (IVNs). The article gives a description that most IVNs tend to be benign but there have been cases of malignant IVNs. the standard treatment for malignant IVNs is microsurgical resection. both of these treatments are not statistically different in aspects, there was limited data but as stated before general trend that SRS has greater efficacy. we can go over the inclusion of exact values when we next meet but I think this source is a good starting point. 7243HODGSOZ (talk) 22:01, 13 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
