When I edited this page, I noticed there was nonsence at the top, and had been for a while. I reverted up to that point. JZCL 16:50, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi JZCL; thanks for the note. Looks like you accidentally re-inserted some old vandalism, and that's what the bot noticed. I'll clean it up manually. 28bytes (talk) 16:57, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi Miguel. The only thing 28bot did was to remove the "example image" ([[File:Example.jpg]]) you added (here and here). The rest of your edits were removed by User:Howard the Duck; you'll need to talk to him about that. As a side note, you have made over 100 edits to Manila in a very short period of time. It would be much better if you used the "preview" function and consolidated your changes into fewer edits. 28bytes (talk) 05:21, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Maybe I miss understood the listing for Black actress but it was no test or mistake. Could you clear up the deletion and where should be listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oldbkzulu (talkcontribs) 10:05, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Oldbkzulu. Here was the edit you made: you added a bunch of "bold text/italic text" junk at the top of the page, which was why the bot reverted your edit. If you make the edit again without including all that junk, then the bot won't revert you. If you click the "Show changes" button before you save your edit, you can double-check to make sure that you didn't accidentally add anything to the article that you didn't intend to. 28bytes (talk) 10:11, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. All the bot did was revert this edit of yours which broke the infobox. It looks like the rest of your edits were removed by User:Nikkimaria; you may wish to talk to her if you have questions about that, or perhaps start a conversation on the article's talk page about the edits you'd like to make. 28bytes (talk) 23:13, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. The edit you made contained a signature, which is why it was undone by the bot. 28bytes (talk) 11:24, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

article signing false positive (2)

I did not sign anything either. Did not even know what signing was and that I could sign. If it is easy to accidentally click the 'signature' button, and if signing is not appropriate for articles, why not just get rid of the signature button for articles?70.171.247.181 (talk) 22:16, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

That's a good suggestion, actually. I've proposed that at the village pump here: Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)#Proposal: remove/hide signature button when editing articles 28bytes (talk) 23:04, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Intererest test edit

Hi 28bot,

You did this revert. This is a good revert. However, I am wondering how you decided to do it. While a high proportion of the edit was text that you might expect from pressing buttons, some of it wasn't. This appears to contradict your programming: "If the user makes test edits and other edits (adding or removing content), the bot logs the test edit here, but does not revert."

Yaris678 (talk) 12:45, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the note... it looks like the userpage documentation is out of date. Since that was written, a subsequent BRFA was filed to request reversion of articlespace edits that contained signatures, even if the edit contained other content. I will update the userpage shortly to reflect that. Thanks, 28bytes (talk) 17:36, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
The user page makes sense now. Thanks. Yaris678 (talk) 09:55, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

False Positive

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ken_Keeley&diff=526651462&oldid=526651347

I rolled back a CSD removal and the bot apparently became confused. --Slazenger (Contact Me) 04:37, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. It looks like what happened was that an IP got confused and removed the Template:db-multiple tag and put Template:Db-notice-multiple right on the article page itself, signature and all. User:Asjxvii then removed both, and when you reverted him, you put the Template:Db-notice-multiple on the page but not the Template:db-multiple (which goes on the article itself.) The bot was correct to revert that, since Template:Db-notice-multiple should never go in articles, only on user talk pages. Hope that helps. 28bytes (talk) 16:43, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Note to self

The registered and unregistered templates used by 28bot passed the standard "false positives?" signature into Template:uw-test1 as the second parameter. From 30 July 2012‎ to 2 December 2012‎, this second parameter was not displayed by Template:uw-test1, so the signature was omitted. I have now reworked these templates to display the standard signature after the uw-test1 template rather than as a parameter to it. Any further changes to uw-test1 should therefore have no effect on whether 28bot's signature is displayed. 28bytes (talk) 02:35, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversion

Hi there! I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you reverted my fix to List of integrals of trigonometric functions.

If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <ref name="foo">...</ref> and one or more <ref name="foo"/> referring to it. Someone then removed the <ref name="foo">...</ref> but left the <ref name="foo"/>, which results in a big red error in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <ref name="foo"/> with a copy of the <ref name="foo">...</ref>; I did not re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the remaining instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove all instances of the named reference so as to not leave any big red error.

If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Also, please post an error report at User talk:AnomieBOT so my operator can fix me! If the error is so urgent that I need to be stopped, also post a message at User:AnomieBOT/shutoff/OrphanReferenceFixer. Thanks! AnomieBOT 09:10, 19 December 2012 (UTC) If you do not wish to receive this message in the future, add {{bots|optout=AnomieBOT-OrphanReferenceFixer}} to your talk page.

Hah, our bots were confused! I've reverted the vandalism that caused this. Anomie 11:27, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
Whoops! Thanks for the manual cleanup. I'll add some code telling it not to do that. 28bytes (talk) 15:29, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

False positive on Erico B. Aumentado

Says it signed my edits, apparently on the page itself. I didn't. — WylieCoyote 04:50, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

You're right, that was a false positive. Sorry about that! This is the edit that introduced the signature into the article. The bot mistakenly reverted when you saved the page with the signature intact; it should instead tagged that for manual cleanup and not reverted or notified you. I've made a change so that it won't do that again. Thanks for reporting it. 28bytes alt (talk) 05:29, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Partial false positive at Director of Central Intelligence

Hi. This was a tricky edit. I'm not sure the bot was wrong, per se, but the IP editor's removal was correct, if not flawless. --MZMcBride (talk) 15:57, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know; I'll give some thought as to whether and how that could be fine-tuned. 28bytes (talk) 16:57, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

False positive on Jellyfish

Not just a false positive, your bot also restored the vandalism that I had just removed. Chris the speller yack 02:02, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Are you sure about that? It looks like your edit actually reintroduced the vandalism, and the bot fixed it. Perhaps I am missing something? 28bytes (talk) 06:44, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
No, you're not missing anything. My edit did reintroduce the vandalism. Another editor had just fixed it, and when I went to the edit history, I clicked "undo" on the wrong line, not seeing that the last edit was the fix, not the vandalism. My goof. Sorry for the false alarm. Chris the speller yack 14:43, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Sorry about editing without logging in. I wasn't trying to vandalize the page. I have added references too. Z16bsr2 (talk) 06:27, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I believe this edit is the one you're referring to? You're free to edit logged out if you like. The bot didn't think you were vandalizing; it was just letting you know that you don't need to include a signature (~~~~) within an article. 28bytes (talk) 06:39, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Wrong message on user's talk page

The bot removed an inappropriate templated message but then left the wrong message on the editor's talk page: she had not signed her addition to the article. (I know she's a very experienced editor and would never do so except by accident, so clicked on the link to look, out of surprise/curiosity). You might need to adjust your error messages. PamD 15:07, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

False positive, though understandable.

[1][2][3] It will be deleted soon, though you (28bytes) are an administrator. A user created an obvious test page, which I tagged for speedy deletion. The user removed the speedy deletion tag, and when I reverted it, the bot reverted me, since my revert added back all of the test stuff (e.g. "File:Example.jpg").

Perhaps not really a true false positive, but I thought I'd let you know. Alan(E) 07:05, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Take a look at the diff of your edit and you will see some extraneous formatting introduced ("Bulleted list item", "File:Example.jpg", etc.) Those bits are often added accidentally if you happen to make a stray mouse click or two on the formatting toolbar. That is why the bot reverted your edit; feel free to make the edit again without those and the bot won't revert. 28bytes (talk) 14:06, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Chevrolet Impala "True or False"

There has never been a Chevrolet Impala with a BMW manufactured S70/2 V12 engine. The user who keeps making up this information is a sole individual, who has most likely some sort of a argument going on in a car forum, about this matter, and now tries to prove/make a point by editing Wikipedia articles regarding the matter, with fake and made up information.

For road cars, the S70/2 engine was a McLaren F1 exlusive. Racing usage for this engine was in the BMW V12 LeMans race cars and the McLaren F1 GTR, which go without a saying, are not road legal cars, but racing cars.
