SwitChar is a Wikipedian and angry young man. He is an adult male student and writer who has been considered a punk, goth, nerd, geek, hippie, or any combination thereof, as well as "pinko," "Commie," "leftist," "stupid fucking anarchist," "commu-bigoted fucktard" and "faggot". He lives in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. He is an anarchist (libertarian socialist), and holds most of his political views and other beliefs very strongly. He enjoys reading, philosophising, trying to change the world, listening to music (see here), contributing to Wikipedia and conversing via internet forums. Wikipedia history edit

I first encountered Wikipedia sometime in mid-2005 on a Google search. I do not remember what I was searching for, but I found a very early version of the article on Green Day, which at that point was short and full of red links. I registered on Wikipedia on December 10, 2005 in order to create articles on characters in a series of alternative indie comics. I didn't know at that time, but it was a blatant violation of notability, and possibly a conflict of interest too, as I personally knew the creative team and had been loosely involved myself (I didn't create an article on my character, Zapatista-Man). I accidentally started seriously editing after only a few days, mostly arguing on talk pages and copyediting at first. I first created a userpage on April 13, 2006. I'm now involved in a wide variety of articles, pertaining to my interests and studies.

Contributions edit

I created the article Funkcore and the List of nontheists. I am considering creating an article on Libertarian (word) and am currently working on recreating a list of anarchists here. I have contributed the most to Rage Against the Machine, The Nightwatchman, Batarang, Punk subculture, Punk fashion, Emo (slang), Anarcho-punk, the List of atheists, Alternative metal and Funk metal.

Grammar and linguistic preferences edit

I am a recovering grammar nazi. I am a writer and, at current, a student of editing; subsequently, such activities are natural to me. If copyediting is needed, I will more than likely be able to help.

Music edit

My tastes include primarily post-punk and punk rock as well as other related genres. I like anything from The Damned to Dead Boys to Descendents to Dead Kennedys to Discharge to Doom to Devo. I also enjoy funk, particularly Zapp, Parliament/Funkadelic and the go go band Trouble Funk. To a lesser extent, I also enjoy reggae, dub music and ska, epsecially 2 tone, and heavy metal, primarily fist-wave bands like Black Sabbath, but also Motörhead and slow, heavy doom metal bands like Pentagram and Saint Vitus. I am also a fan, in a boader sense, of alternative rock and alternative metal. I enjoy free jazz, hip hop, industrial music, rock and roll, soul, and almost anything else as long as it's good. A short list of favourite bands includes The Clash, Rage Against the Machine, Crass, Joy Division, The Smiths, Gang of Four, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Interpol.
