Robert I. Ditman (April 6, 1927 – January 26, 1990) was an American politician. He served as a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from the 6th district from 1965 to 1967.
Life and career
editDitman was born on April 6, 1927, in Bakersfield, California.[1] He and his family moved to Gulkana, Alaska, when Ditman was less than a month old. He attended school in Chitina, Valdez, and Anchorage, before going to Juneau for high school, graduating in 1945. While in high school, Ditman worked at a laundromat in Juneau, as a bellhop at Baranof Hotel, and as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for the Alaska Road Commission.[2]
Alaska House of Representatives
editDitman was first elected to the Alaska House of Representatives in 1960 as an independent Democrat for the 8th district, defeating Republican George I. Ashby by just over 100 votes.[3]: 19 [4]
