Life and career

edit

James Patrick Trevor Grant was born on 9 September 1943 to Patrick and Alice (née Bowe) Grant. He was raised in Edinburgh, living with his parents and two sisters: Janet and Jacquelin.[1]

Grant had dyslexia and at the age of 11, he was sent to a school for dyslexic kids in New England. He was unable to write, but could read.[1]

Grant first married Linda Piggot in 1966 and the two had three daughters: Carolyn, Phillipa, and Victoria. Grant and Piggot divorced in 1984. A year later, Grant married to Margaret Drummond and divorced her in 1993.[1]

In 1992, after the death of his father, Grant became the 33rd Chief of Clan Grant and 6th Baron Strathspey.[1] As a result, Grant sat in the House of Lords from 27 January 1992 to 11 November 1999.[2]
