The 2018–19 season was the fourth season in the existence of Hereford Football Club and their first ever season in the National League North, the sixth tier of English football, following their promotion from the Southern League Premier Division in the previous season. In addition to the league, the club also competed in the FA Cup and the FA Trophy.

Season review

edit

Hereford entered the season off the back of three consecutive promotions, rising from the Midland League Premier Division at step 5 in their first ever season, through the two tiers of the Southern League, leading to step 2. They were placed in the National League North as opposed to the National League South.

The league season began well, winning three of their first four matches, with the non-win being a 0–0 draw away against Nuneaton Borough. However, this was followed by a 14-match winless run between 18 August and 17 November, with their next win coming on 1 December with a 2–1 home win against Alfreton Town. On 13 September, four matches into their winless spell, the club sacked long-time manager Peter Beadle and installed defender Ryan Green as caretaker manager. Former Gloucester City manager Marc Richards was ultimately appointed as Beadle’s successor on 2 October.

Richards guided Hereford to a 17th-placed finish, and after briefly dropping into the relegation in mid-November, ultimately finished 14 points clear of the relegation zone.
