Congratulations edit

You're an admin now. I recommend using the admin tools conservatively — especially at first. Re-read the relevant sections of the policy before taking any actions and post anything potentially controversial on the administrator's noticeboard. Have fun using your tools to help the place out. Also, see if you can't self assess the comments in your RfA to see if there is anything you could improve on. - Taxman Talk 17:37, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: edit

Fair reasoning but still not enough to hold claim toward almost every single song from that album holding/deserving an article of its own. The articles that exist regarding songs by bands long since established like The Beatles, Metallica and other bands and individuals that have been around long enough to have had their material pondered over and discussed enough to make the discussions basis for encyclopedic articles are fairly justifiable and have enough merit to stand as articles. There is little I can do other than taking it to AfD all by piecemeal and I simply do not wish to waste the effort. 75.2.22.134 20:35, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, Deiz, for voting in my RFA. It closed with a final result of 75/1/0. Rob Van Dam edit

Please do not remove content from Wikipedia; it is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. McPhail 23:30, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

  • note - My sole edit to this article was to remove a redlink to a band. Vandalism? Wow... ;) This is going in the trophy section when the page gets archived. Deizio talk 23:54, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Van Dam used versions of the song as performed by both Kilgore and Pantera, with Kilgore performing the version that was featured on the ECW CD release. If your intent was simply to "remove a redlink to a band", this could have been accomplished by delinking the word "Kilgore" rather than removing all mention of Kilgore from the article. Whether this vandalism originated from malice or ignorance is none of my concern, provided the integrity of the article is not compromised again. Thank you. McPhail 01:00, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Image talk:AdolfHitlerliberty.jpg edit

Thats the point. I know talk pages tend to be less subject to deletion, but what is the point in keeping a talk page to an Image thats about to be deleted, says one meaningless comment that didn't start a conversation, and doesn't have any point to being there. Personally, I don't see that as a bad joke anyways. Point is, theres just no valid reason to keep it there, is there? DGX 01:33, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

I readded the tag one more time and will wait to see what another administator thinks. I ask for you to wait before removing it again before another admin gets to see it. If the next admin decides it's worth keeping, then I wont readd the tag again. If you happen to not like the outcome feel free to contact me or the other admin who makes that descision. And, I apoligize for being dickish with my edits to this pointless page ;-) Cheers! DGX 02:40, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Alright fine, but I still don't see the point in saving a page when all it says is "public domain?", a comment made 3 years ago, had no response and is just sitting there. Do what you like.. DGX 15:32, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

List, cont. edit

Hello, I didn't mean to presumptuously re-create the page. I hadn't gotten your message back and I did it just so I could recover the work that I had done. If you want to go ahead with the discussion of the article's deletion that's fine but I'm okay with building up the list on my user page to be at least substantial. You can delete or I can, but I'm fine with waiting. --Friendship hurricane 00:46, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

"Sock puppet"
Actually, that's my roommate. While I did ask him to vote, he has written seperate article, namely the ngugi. He hadn't created an account until I suggested he do so, but he is a seperate person. If that isn't convincing I can't offer up any more evidence to support what I'm saying, but if it's still too suspicious or if my suggesting was unethical I wouldn't argue against the removal of his vote.

re speedy deletion edit

Thanks for the comment sorry its taken me so long the full article is at Bård Faust see it has one of those foriegn letters in it, thats why i got confused, i actually think that all articles in the english wikipedia should be written with only english letters as this would make it more easy to find certain things. Perhaps there should be some sort of disscussion around that. Unregistered text offender 12:59, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Deletion of Talk:List of frequently misused English words edit

You deleted Talk:List of frequently misused English words a couple days ago with the comment "article deleted". List of frequently misused English words was not in fact deleted, nor as far as I can tell has the deletion of that article been suggested since 2004. Did you simply delete the talk page by accidentally or was there some other reason that I've been unable to determine? I have restored the talk page, but if you think it needs to be deleted, I'm interested to hear why. Nohat 05:20, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Could I have my hokum back again? edit

I just noticed that you deleted the article "hokum" on May 22nd. You may have deleted it because it was an article on an unremarkable British band. However, in a previous lifetime, it was a serious article on the "hokum" blues, which I wrote. Could you, as an admin, restore the original, non-self-promoting article from the history? There were some minor additions later on, some of which were useful, but at some point the whole article must have gotten replaced with what is now on the Talk:Hokum page. CorbinSimpson's Request for Adminship edit

Thanks for voting in my request for administrator rights, even though it failed (13/30/4). Sadly, work has forced me to respond to you all using a substituted message rather than a personalized response. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that administrators, to me, should be chosen and approved by the community, and I will continue working to become a better editor and Wikipedian. No matter what the alignment of your vote was, I will take your comments seriously and use them to improve myself. If you wish to discuss your comments personally with me, I would be more than glad to talk about things since the RfA is now over; just leave your concern on my talk page and we will sort things out. Thanks again for voting, and happy editing! - Corbin Be excellent

Re: Well done edit

Jordan, I think you've done really well this week and I'm glad I offered my support. Having just been through a non "dead-cert" RfA myself I know what it was like to get even a few opposes, so to get so many and deal with them all must have been very hard and at times very demoralising. I personally don't hold any strong views on religion but if I did, and if I chose to write about those views and experiences therein I like to think they wouldn't affect my ability to be an effective contributor and admin. I also don't know why it didn't end on time? Anyway, I hope you continue to edit, to answer your critics and to maintain the dignity you've shown this week. Looking forward to a strong RFA #3 if / when you feel up to it. Deizio talk 23:14, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the uplifting remarks. It's simply so hard to guage community consensus. Perhaps the community as a whole thinks that I was attempting to lawyer my way to adminship. Perhaps they think I'm more concerned about promoting Islam than creating an encyclopedia. Perhaps they think my every action is part of a plot to gain adminship. Ngb stated that Certainly the behaviour you have exhibited during this RFA is beginning to convince me that, without a fundamental change of attitude, you should never become an administrator. I thought I handled the situation as best I could, responding to comments in reasoned defense rather than attacking oppose voters. But perhaps the Wikipedia community agrees with Ngb. I simply don't know. From here, I don't know what I'll do. I'm sure I'll be back to my regular editing, but I'll most certainly take a break for a day to rebound from this and possibly be a bit less active for a couple more weeks so I can focus on ending this school year. I don't want this RfA to bring me down, but I'm afraid the community now has a less than desirable image of me. An image that will never be erased. And I don't say that because that image may dash my chances to become an admin in the future, but rather I say that because that image may dash my chances at being seen as a credible editor. It's simply unfortunate.

Feels like harassment edit

RK, you have been blocked for 72 hours following contravention of the 1RR aspect of your arbitration ruling. I appreciate the reversions were close to 24 hours apart, but you know the rules and you broke them. I appreciate you have a difference of opinion on this issue, but the arbitration ruling stands. Naturally, you are welcome to contact me by email or talk page to discuss this

You make it clear that I know the rules and that I did not break them. So to effectively falsely accuse me of a crime you admit that I didn't commit (engaging in a revert war, or even reverting an article more than once a day), feels like harassment. You know the facts: that the rules against multiple reverts a day were made to stop revert wars. You also knew that none were occuring here, that I was not making more than one revert a day. It seems to me that you misused your authority as an administrator by refusing to look at the context, and by refusing to even speak to me first. Aren't such actions, taken without warning or discussion, a violation of the principles upon which such rules were made in the first place? You seem to admit that I was banned not for breaking a rule, but for not looking closely enough at the clock. Is it any wonder why I spent many months away from Wikipedia, and why I and many other science professionals view Wikipedia with great mistrust? Do I take it that you wish the same treatment be applied to you? Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. That's the first rule for anyone with any kind of power, no matter how small it may seem. If you disregard this rule, you are no longer a part of the solution. RK 01:06, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Enquiry edit

Hello! I have a minor enquiry to ask from you. I am wondering what is the correct format of numbering to use in Wikipedia titles. For example in the title heading Category:Wikipedians with 4000-5000 edits, is it necessary to add a comma after a 4 digit number? Thus another version of the title would be Category:Wikipedians with 4,000-5,000 edits. What is the official view in this on Wikipedia? Thank You for helping me out. --Siva1979Talk to me 03:12, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

So, is a redirect page necessary for the above titles? A user might create another title containing the same subject matter thus creating redundancy. --Siva1979Talk to me 19:20, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
