I'm trying to get an overview ;)

Notability: named minerals only, I exclude the the "unnamed" ones. Notable is an IMA recognized mineral.

I try to follow webmineral.com and the Classification by Strunz. Dana and mindat.org cross categories (superclasses) and classes sometimes, but Strunz does not use the old group names.

This list gives an overview of the classification of minerals and includes mostly IMA recognized minerals and its groupings. This list complements the alphabetical list on List of minerals (complete) and List of minerals. Rocks, ores, mineral mixtures, not IMA approved minerals, not named minerals are mostly excluded. Mostly major groups only, or groupings used by New Dana Classification and Mindat.
