Template for deletion edit

I have requested this template to be deleted here: Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2020 May 31#Template:Uw-nothereblock. Please add the substitution per WP:TFDHOW. --Pudeo (talk) 14:43, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 9 August 2020 edit

Please use <noinclude> so the wrong namespace error does not appear on the template page itself (for preview purposes). 83.9.187.30 (talk) 16:47, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Done. Several other templates like this one also show the error on their template pages. It's an easy way to show editors what happens when the template is used in the wrong namespace. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 19:31, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
But it's inconsistent... 83.9.187.30 (talk) 20:35, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Agree. It's also pretty useless imo. Obviously you don't use Uw outside user talk. Showing error message here is just bad. It should show noincluded version of what template really looks like. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 22:43, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
It's all good. Yet since this error message appears on the templates that use the {{Uw-block}} meta template (also protected), then the correct venue to garner a consensus for this change would be the talk page of that template, Template talk:Uw-block (which redirects to this page to centralize discussions). And the consensus should be achieved before using the {{Edit template-protected}} template. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 02:55, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Probably should mention that I have a problem with the meta template, too. If we check the error category, Pages with templates in the wrong namespace, we find many of these user talk page templates there. It's because the meta template sorts those user talk page templates to that category. And that's just wrong. So I would support some change to that meta template that would remove the error category from these templates. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 04:17, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
To editor ProcrastinatingReader: found that the |demospace=<noinclude>user talk</noinclude> parameter can be used to grant this request. I'll check the other templates in the error category to see if it helps them as well. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 04:39, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
