The Owl Drug Company edit

Created by Dr. Blofeld (talk). Self nominated at 05:55, 14 August 2014 (UTC).

  • Rugger Ardizoia played two innings of one game in Major League Baseball, he's not exactly a well-known figure in baseball. The fact that a guy who played two innings in MLB also worked at the drug store doesn't seem like a particularly interesting fact. Isn't there something more interesting for the hook? (This is not intended a review, just a drive-by observation.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbl62 (talkcontribs) 13:30, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
I agree. Apparently the company sponsored minor-league teams so there may be some interesting background in that. EEng (talk) 03:55, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
  • Full review needed, though given the comments about the hook above, Dr. Blofeld should probably consider proposing an ALT hook. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:08, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
That sounds appropriately pre-WW2 innocent. EEng (talk) 19:27, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
  • New enough, long enough, well-referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. QPQ done. I'm wondering just how many readers know who Elinor Glyn is? Maybe you could combine EEng's suggestion, above:
  • ALT2: ... that The Owl Drug Company sponsored a minor-league baseball team and ran a beauty contest in which winners received a Hollywood screen test?
  • Or another approach:
  • ALT3: ... that The Owl Drug Company bottles are now collector's items, including its widely-copied cobalt-blue bottles for storing poisons? Yoninah (talk) 22:46, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
ALT2 EEng (talk) 00:01, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

I don't mind, pick one! Thanks Yoninah!♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:20, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

  • New reviewer needed to verify/decide between ALT2 and ALT3. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 10:27, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
  • ALT2 verified and GTG. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:09, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
