Ivy Josiah edit

  • Reviewed: This is my first article, not yet a reviewer.
  • Comment: This was written for International Women's Day at Newnham College.

  • Article is barely above 1500 characters (1519) and is new enough, a QPQ is not needed. But the hook doesn't exactly match what is written in the article. 'Wife', 'beating' nor 'wife beating' are actually mentioned, but 'battered women' are. These are two very different distinctions, at least in my opinion they are, and either the hook or article needs changing so that they match each other more clearly. Also, the article is classified as a stub, which it should be for DYK.  — Calvin999 20:59, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
  • Wife battering does not sound so good. G-Eazy951 worked on this too. He may have a suggestion. Yuitsum (talk) 19:32, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
  • Comment The article mentions "battered women" and "domestic violence". As Malaysia is a majority Muslim country and still a fairly traditional society, the "battered women" who are the victims of "domestic violence" will almost all be wives, thus "wife beating" can reasonably be inferred. • Date, Cite, and Earwigs meets basic criteria of DYK. QPQ not needed. I am assuming good faith that the link in the hook is for the sake of hookiness. Wife beating redirects to domestic violence (which is in the article). @Yuitsum: @G-Eazy951: Someone needs to provide 95 or more characters of new text to this article since some text may have been removed since the creation. I only counted 1405 excluding section headers and footnotes, so the criteria for length is not satisfied. Fix that last problem and we can moves this along. --KAVEBEAR (talk) 05:02, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
  • The nominator and creator seem to have gone inactive. @Edwardx: @Calvin999: Do either one of you two want to adopt this DYK and fix the remaining problem? --KAVEBEAR (talk) 05:08, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
  • I don't want to take this on, no. I'd forgotten this was even still here because nothing had happened.  — Calvin999 08:43, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @KAVEBEAR: I have added a sentence about the subject's service on a Royal Commission. DYK Check now gives a count of "1558 characters (252 words)". Andrew D. (talk) 19:01, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Returned from prep per discussion at WT:DYK#Prep 5 - "wife beating". The wording in the promoted hook, "wife-beating", was changed to "domestic violence against women", but that excludes the battered children that Josiah's organization is also helping. A new hook is needed. Yoninah (talk) 11:36, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Here keeping it simple.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 16:48, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Thanks. Hook ref verified and cited inline. Rest of review per KAVEBEAR. ALT1 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 20:56, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
