Indianapolis Traction Terminal edit

Indianapolis Traction Terminal

Created by Mackensen (talk). Self nominated at 23:35, 26 July 2014 (UTC).

Article is new enough, long enough and has adequate references (though some sources are off-line) with no evidence of plagiarism; hook facts have in-line citations; hook is appropriate length supported by off-line reference taken in good faith; photo was published before 1923 so it is Public Domain.--Orygun (talk) 01:02, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
  • I pulled this from prep because the source for the hook is online and (a) doesn't seem to say that it's the largest ever built, rather that it's "the greatest of all" (then goes on to talk about its high passenger volume, geographic centrality, importance to the industry, etc.) and (b) the source only covers the US anyway. The source is very dense so I may have missed something, and if so please point to the specific page. EEng (talk) 15:25, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
  • This was returned to prep without any of the concerns above being addressed. I've pulled it again. EEng (talk) 22:08, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
  • I'm sorry, I've only just been notified there was a problem. Interurbans are considered a North American phenomenon which is why the source only addresses North America. The sense of every source I've read is that this was indeed the "greatest" interurban terminal: largest, highest passenger volume, etc. I suspect greatest would be rejected as non-neutral wording, though a source does say exactly that. The Street Railway Review from 1905 called it "the only building of its kind that can be compared in size...with the terminal buildings provided by the steam railroads of the country." Marlette says that it was "reputed to be the largest traction terminal in the world." Mackensen (talk) 12:05, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
Of course Street Railway Review could only speak for up to 1905, but Marlette is more convincing. However, even he says reputed to be so could be do
ALT1 ... that the Indianapolis Traction Terminal (pictured) was reputedly the largest interurban terminal ever built?

EEng (talk) 19:27, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

  • Reviewer needed for ALT1. (Note: I added "the" before "largest", as it didn't make grammatical sense otherwise.) BlueMoonset (talk) 21:03, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

. Second hook is fine. New enough, adequate length, adequate references, no copy-vio issues or close paraphrasing. inline citations, hook is cited to online sources, photo is public domain. Ready for DYK. Cpuser20 (talk) 02:57, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
