Emik Avakian edit

  • A thoroughly interesting person, but some problems with this hook/nomination. New enough. Long enough. Hook problems: 1. Inventors get patents, that is one of their primary tasks. It is not interesting that an inventor gets patents. Alt1 proposed below. 2. The source does not say he was of "Armenian descent", it says he was Persian-born. The issue is not whether he was of "Armenian descent" (I have no doubts he was), but whether it is fair to flatten his identity as only "Armenian American". Winning an honorary award from the Iran seems to suggest than he at least identified with Iran a little bit. Probably best not to imply his nationality if he isn't clear about it. 3. The "When in Armenia" source is not an RS and all of their content is plagiarized quite badly from Eureka College. Needs to be fixed (and that will help clarify some points in the article like where he earned Magna cum Laude from). 4. Many claims are not found in the sources. Starting with "In order to seek medical assistance..." the claim is not in any of the sources. I couldn't find the cost efficiency argument either. 5. Article is not BLP tagged, but it needs to be for DYK. Once again, Emik is a thoroughly interesting person, hopefully ALT1 picks up on these aspects. ALT1 ... that because he was born with severe cerebral palsy and had problems typing, Emik Avakian invented a typewriter that operated without the use of hands?
Issues fixed. I'm fine with ALT1. Proudbolsahye (talk) 06:01, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
ALT1 needs additional reviewer. Thank you. AbstractIllusions (talk) 16:15, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Article new enough, long enough, fully sourced. ALT1 Hook verified against reliable online source. Good to go. Hawkeye7 (talk) 06:02, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
