  • Article is new enough, long enough, neutrally written, and generally supported by reliable sources. The hook is short enough. However, I find the hook confusing, especially the reference to "elite athlete orphan." I'm not sure what that means, and the phrase is not used in the article (nor is the word orphan).   • Ooops. Supporting text is "She took advantage of an athlete "adoption" programme that helps elite athletes living far away from home that placed her with a local, Adelaide area family." Source describes her as an orphan saying "WE DON'T usually think of elite athletes as orphans." Hence the linking. Added wording and fixed wording to make it more clear.--LauraHale (talk) 01:48, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Hmmm. Now I understand, but now that I understand, the hook strikes me as misleadling. She was neither an "orphan," nor was she "adopted." I appreciate your good work on Australian athletes, but I don't think this hook works. Can you suggest another? Or try to persuade me I'm wrong? Cbl62 (talk) 02:02, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Lots of sporting clubs have adoption programs where younger competitors are placed with local families when away from home. I kind of like it... :) But if you don't think it is right... --LauraHale (talk) 03:35, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
  • The ALT1 hook likes fine. As for the original hook, I'm worried that some may complaint that it's misleading or too "April Fools-ish." If you were to put the words "orphan" and "adopted" in quotation marks, that might work. If you prefer that, let me know. Cbl62 (talk) 04:02, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
