Sports edit

In the mountaineering section there are _climbers_ and examples of _climbs_ while _hikers_ and _hiking trials_ would me much more appropriate. Of course, there are climbers, skiers, and skitourers in Tatras but examples are wrong and the section needs to be entirely rewritten. Titus Atomicus (talk) 09:09, 29 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree, the sports section needs to be rewritten. There are more activities that can be added. For example, in the winter people ski, ice skate, sled runs, snowmobiling, and snowshoe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Madetkom (talkcontribs) 04:51, 20 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Only Mountain Range in Central Europe? edit

According to Wikipedia's definition, Central Europe includes Austria and Switzerland, both of which have the Alps. Thus, The High Tatras cannot be the only alpine range in Central Europe. (this unsigned message was left by Jancikotuc on 25 August 2006 )

Pushpin edit

The pushpin in the map places Zakopane in Slovakia - can anyone correct this?--Smerus 11:53, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit

I feel that the "The five-star Villa Marilor Hotel" is just an advert snuck in for quick publicity. The significance of it in Zakopane is very negligable. Should it be edited out? 09:30, 07 May 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 57.66.195.81 (talk) In my opinion Villa Marilor is quite interesting piece of architecture and history. However I agree considering the size of this Zakopane article it should not be mentioned. Titus Atomicus (talk) 00:20, 2 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

@Piotrus and Oliszydlowski: I was wondering does it would be worthible to mention that Zakopane appeared in film American film Love Hard (film) directed by Costarican director. This was realased one week ago but you can check/verify it by watching film on Netflix: [1] 1:25:25, you can see Giewont on the right, this view is from Gubałówka and are similar on commons. I was very surprised when seen that! The article include polocentric information about Andrzej Wajda's films. Dawid2009 (talk) 15:51, 13 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure. It's rather trivial. But if we have RS for that, sure. Also should mention this in the movie article which does not do so now. But again, RS is the first step. Just seeing it on Netflix is irrelevant, at least as for adding this info (OR). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:42, 14 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Are there any hard sources which support that it was filmed there? Merangs (talk) 10:11, 14 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
So far probably not beause of this is very new film. And this is problem, I see your point (even though this is true, I am not first internaut who noted that: [2]). Maybe if this fact will ever be supportd by any source we could discuss incusion to shortly mention it in article on film (among other places which were in film) and later eventually here. I found that quite interesing because of I did not suspected that Zakopane would appear in American film directed by Costa Rican director. Dawid2009 (talk) 11:06, 14 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Dawid2009: - For curiosity, I went onto Google Maps and to be fair that few second scene is indeed Zakopane. Also, what did you mean by "polocentric information about Andrzej Wajda's films"? Merangs (talk) 07:56, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I mean it is not surprise if Zakopane appear in Polish film but it is surprise to appear in American Film directed by Costa Rodan filmmaker Dawid2009 (talk) 09:13, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Skiing in Zakopane for a beginner edit

Two friends and I recently travelled to Zakopane on a mission to see if we could ski for £100 from the UK, safe to say we managed to do it for just over £100. One of the guys had never skied before so we filmed out little weekend trip and I have to say I really enjoyed Zakopane. Before we set this challenge I had never even thought of Poland as a destination for skiing but I would throughly recommend it to beginners or more experienced skiers and snowboarders alike. Check out our video on YouTube to see out experience, just search jump wide and you'll find us! 80.192.251.102 (talk) 22:14, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
