Taxonomic headache edit

The article says the three-way split "has not so far been supported by research". Has the lump been supported, or are both views equally unsupported?

I see Amazon parrot lists Yellow-headed as a separate species and Yellow-naped equivocally. —JerryFriedman 16:54, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yellow-crowned, -headed and -naped edit

Considering that there are wikipedia articles for all three, I have modified the text rather heavily to match Yellow-crowned sensu stricto. Much of the info I have removed or changed (e.g. under habitat and description) related to the taxa which are treated in the Yellow-headed and Yellow-naped Amazon articles rather than the "true" Yellow-crowned. Furthermore, there were a few issues with concervation status, among other it appears there was some confusion over what taxa are included in the various IUCN and CITES treatments (i.e. as both these authorities follow the split, their status for the Yellow-crowned Parrot relates strictly to the nominate group). Should anyone feel that my edit was too heavy handed, feel free to re-modify it and/or change sections back, but if adding information relating to the Yellow-headed and Yellow-naped (but not the Yellow-crowned), please make sure that you indicate it relates specifically to these. It could be argued that the articles for the Yellow-crowned, -headed and -naped should be merged, but considering that several authorities still consider them separate species, I won't suggest that at this point (though others should of course feel entirely free to do so if they think it would be a good idea).
