Motto edit

I have seen no mention of the school motto anywhere, but I'm positive that it's not "Do it tomorrow!" Even the "Oorah!" before it seemed farfetched. Shouldn't we just keep the motto part of the template blank until we find the actual motto? Chu 05:43, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

The motto is certainly not "Do it tomorrow!" Taking it out, because as a student, I've never heard of it in my life and I'm sure nobody else who attends Westview has either. Only edit I have done. Insomne 01:12, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I just learned the identity of the person that put that in. She just wanted to find out exactly how to edit stuff in Wikipedia. I guess she never heard of the Sandbox. Thanks, Insomne! Chu 00:08, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
The only possible Motto I have ever heard was the old slogan we used in RO, "Westview, more than a High School!". I believe it has spawned from the whole thing with people refering to WV as a "Learning Community" which somehow makes us better then everyone else. Not that I agree with it, but it is better then that "Chalo!" shit I have never heard in my life.--Jondd88 06:41, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, I've never heard that. For the first year or two, "Oorah!" was more or less the motto for the school, but that changed with administration shifts. Now, there isn't really a motto, and I believe it should be left blank. Stralor
"Oorah" is only the motto for the ROTC. I went to WestView, I never heard about a motto. If there is one, it will likely be on the school website. ChristopherMannMcKay 17:08, 18 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Please remember that anything added to wikipedia needs to be sourced. Just because you have or haven't heard a piece of information is not reason for inclusion or exclusion. - Ocatecir 17:21, 18 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Um i see no mention of the missle silo it is a very important part of westview please alow a mention of the silo to be posted —Preceding unsigned comment added by Charmnext (talkcontribs) 23:58, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

also i belive that the schools proxcimty to Westview and contruction is a sign that it could be a missle silo like Westview. currently there is no verifiable information to ether of the schools missle staus only first hand accounts and incressed security as intrust in the silos incrsed. it seams that this is a program that was started under the nixon adminstation it is unclear weather or not the program will contiue under the obama administration most of the funding comes form black opps bank accounts please let me post information that there is at the lest a wellknown "rumor" of this on campus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Charmnext (talkcontribs) 22:10, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Missile Silo Rumors edit

There is a Rumor on campus that westview and the schools that are based on it's design are infact some sort of missle silos. So far there are no facts to support the claims although it is widely belived that the entrence is hidden in the back of the school. The enterance is belived to be at the back of the school some where next to the motor pool(it mostly contains golf carts) Over the summer concerns about consistant "vandlism" prompted the district to install cameras. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Charmnext (talkcontribs) 22:20, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Removing "Unsourced" Tag? edit

Hi all, I have recently added several references to the current Westview page, but noticed that the "No Sources Cited" label has not been removed yet. I wanted to take that off, but hoped the person who originally edited that in might give me his/her permission to remove it. Also, a second point. Isn't Ms. Kastner the principal, not the head teacher? I may be mistaken, so I decided to post that here first. Please comment. Theaura (talk) 16:15, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes Mrs. Kastner is the principal not the "head teacher". I know it seams silly but the missle silo rumors are a part of westview and deserve a small portion of the page it has been removed before so i would like to know the best way of going about this. i have no "facts" on th missle silo its self but i do on the rumors if know about westview you know of this please post a reply on the talk page if you dont think that a popular rumor is importatnt enough to be posted then please say so and why. thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Charmnext (talkcontribs) 05:02, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Rumors have no place on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a place for fact and reliable sources. OcatecirT 13:11, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Gonna have to second that comment. If there is definitive proof that needs to be included as a source, but Wiki isn't for rumors. I'm pretty sure there's a WP page on (that is to say against) including personal research. Is there anyone else from WV who knows of this rumor? Specifically, who will be willing to defend this point? If so, then let them speak for it. If not, I would prefer to keep this off the page. Also, could I take the "Uncited" tag off? That original question was never answered.Theaura (talk) 00:02, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pending changes edit

This article is one of a small number (about 100) selected for the first week of the trial of the Wikipedia:Pending Changes system on the English language Wikipedia. All the articles listed at Wikipedia:Pending changes/Queue are being considered for level 1 pending changes protection.

The following request appears on that page:

However with only a few hours to go, comments have only been made on two of the pages.

Please update the Queue page as appropriate.

Note that I am not involved in this project any more than any other editor, just posting these notes since it is quite a big change, potentially.

This article has been excluded from the pending changes trial because there is lack of disruptive activity here that would justify applying any type of page protection here. 山本一郎 (会話) 02:53, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notable alumni edit

Hello. As a major contributor to this article, it has come to my attention that the only notable alumnus from this school is a murderer. This does not mean that people are allowed to add fictional people to the list. All notable alumni should satisfy WP:N. — PCB 06:04, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • On this same note, can anyone actually provide a source that confirms "Bennett Thomas Bird" actually attended Westview? If he is a member of Team USA I would agree he is notable, but the link between him and Westview is currently non-existent.Systematic1 (talk) 20:46, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you are referring to the BYU volleyball player Bennett Bird he did attend westview high school. I attend Westivew when he as there and he was dating my good friends younger sister. The Union Tribune All San DIego section boys Volleyball team page for 2011 page lists him as a Westview player. Googling his name with volleyball brings up Union Tribune articles pointing to him attending Westview as does his BYU athletics profile page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.101.80.216 (talk) 22:26, 27 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

I looked through the list of athletes at the reference given and he was not included, so I removed based on the citation and WP:WTAF. Maybe going through this website of alumni would generate some notable people. 72Dino (talk) 20:51, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Agree strongly with PCB. That there are two notable (well, one if up for AfD) individuals associated with crimes is merely a sad coincidence, not a reflection on the school or community. The article for Columbine High School has a lot of drive-by deletions by folks who seem to think we can erase parts of history we may not like. OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:05, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Considering the balance of the article it is allowable to be fairly tolerant of minor people in the list of alumni, as long as there are good references. It is also suggested at WP:WPSCH/AG#Alumni that a prose summary could be used instead of a list (of one or two people), which would allow for a more balanced description of what ex-students get up to, as well as the mention of the most recently notable alumni. Unfortunately the fact he attended the school will not now go away, but we are also not in the business of attaching too much weight to the fact. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:18, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
