Stuff about the Warriors website?

I know the article is about the novel series, but there is also information about the Warriors website. Should it be left alone or should I delete it? ♫AppleDapple♫ (talk) 22:36, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

There's really no place else to put it, and its not notable enough to deserve its own article. And technically, this article is actually about not only the series itself, but things related to it. So yes, keep it. Brambleclawx 22:42, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Archives

The archives were a mess, so I took some time to reorganize it. Now, we have 7 empty archives. Just so everyone knows, I will handle the archiving until we figure out what to do to replace werdnabot. I'll archive whenever I feel necessary. and will fill each archive as close to 100Kb as possible before going to a new archive. Brambleclawx 16:15, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

It's going to take years to fill up those archives at this rate :) Airplaneman talk 23:55, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Plot-Heavy?

Perhaps someone should think about consolidating the Series descriptions? There's so many plot details and spoilers I don't even feel like I need to read the books - the entire story is laid out right here!192.91.147.34 (talk) 18:54, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm trying to get this done. Brambleclawx 22:58, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I have also shortened the book summaries. Not by a large degree, but still shortened. Cst2267 (talkcontribs) 23:47, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Game

I think we should mention the Dungeons and Dragons-esque adventure game with stories in the back of each "Omen of the Stars" Novel. I don't like to mess with articles myself w/out permission, though; so I figured I should write about it here. Mistpaw (talk) 20:13, 16 March 2010 (UTC)Mistpaw

Its quite alright, Mistpaw. Nobody owns the article, so feel free to edit it as much as you like! Just make sure that you're not writing anything bad, and don't be discouraged if someone reverts/undoes your edits.
As for the game, we've mentioned it, but, seeing as I haven't played it, I can't write too much about it (I've tried, but no one was there to play with me). Brambleclawx 21:35, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

herbs and medicines

there has always been emphasis on the herbs the clans use and in what sickness. Should there be a section about them? Derild4921 (talk) 22:19, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

I believe there should. I do believe there was one in the far past, but somewhere along, it got deleted. I can try to retrieve it, but there's a ridiculously complete list on the Warriors Wiki. I'll give it a look. Brambleclawx 22:32, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Another place you could look for a list of herbs and their uses in Secrets of the Clans. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cst2267 (talkcontribs) 23:47, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Anyone with too much time on their hands is welcome to help clean up this page, before I merge it into the main article. Brambleclawx 14:11, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
how would it be merged? Would we start new section making the article larger or would delete some information for more space. This article is already quite large be itself. Derild4921 (talk) 18:50, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
I think a new section as part of "setting and characters" or just below it would work. It would make the article longer, but not too significantly. Note that I think we're just adding the lists of herbs and sicknesses, not everything on the linked page. PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:18, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Yep, Princess has the right idea. Find the important stuff, clean it up so its polished, then insert it into Settings And Characters (which might get a new name), or as a subsection of that section. If you want truly long articles, you see articles like the ones listed here. (Our ThunderClan cats list is approx 400th) Brambleclawx 22:46, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
ok then, that first is REALLY long, what parts would be moved over besides the herbs and medicines? I think we should add the herbs and mythology in and create a new article for the other information. The Tribe of Rushing Water information could be added to the list of cats in the Tribe —Preceding unsigned comment added by Derild4921 (talkcontribs) 23:26, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure quite yet. It's really about whether or not readers care about what we merge. If its unnecessary, we wouldn't need it. Remember to sign your posts. Brambleclawx 00:22, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, a medicine cat herb... thing... um, an herb thing would be cool! Here are a few that I know:

Watermint- for bellyaches

Catmint- for greencough

Dock- for scratches

Marigold- for infections

Cobwebs- for bleeding

Burdock- for infections and rat bites

Juniper berries- for bellyaches

Yarrow- for poison

Deathberries- painless death

Goldenrod- for wounds

Horsetail- for wounds

Yeah, that's about it, as far as herbs go, that I know of.

-Duskflower43 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Duskflower43 (talkcontribs) 00:08, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

And poppy seeds for pain, forgot to add that. Duskflower43 (talk) 22:15, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Added the section. Ex-Borg Seven of Nine (talk) 16:50, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Medicine cat apprentice

should that paragraph be under the Elders paragraph or under the medicine cat paragraph? Right now it's under the Elders paragraph, but I feel it should be under the medicine cat paragraph. Derild4921 (talk) 23:52, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Its currently under reconstruction by me, so some stuff is a bit messy right now. I plan to include in a paragraph about apprentices actually. Is that ok? Brambleclawx 21:05, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
I actually moved it to where he suggested. Feel free to rearrange as you feel appropriate. PrincessofLlyr royal court 21:22, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Um... no you didn't. Brambleclawx 21:26, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay, now I'm just confused. Sorry, I know I saw this and messed with moving it...I really thought I did that. Sorry. PrincessofLlyr royal court 21:29, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
That's fine. Brambleclawx 21:32, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
It's fine, I just felt it would be better under the medicine cat paragraph. Derild4921 (talk) 22:35, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
My feeling is that we should get more opinions on this, but seeing as most other members of the project are inactive, I don't think that would help much. Brambleclawx 00:39, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, maybe we could scare up a few other people to comment. I personally think it would be best under either medicine cat or apprentices. Given, the regular apprentices are quite different from medicine cat apprentices. I think it's probably not a big deal either way. (In explanation for my earlier confusion, one of our computers cuts off the Internet when anyone is on the phone, so I'm guessing I was interrupted in the middle of an edit.) PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:16, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Hmm...I personally think it should be put under apprentices...just my humble opinion.Homework2 pass a notesign! 17:44, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

The problem is that medicine cat apprentices have different duties such as gathering herbs and learning about herbs unlike regular apprentices who hunt and fight...I think it could fit under either though Derild4921 (talk) 20:22, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Soooo maybe place it under both? Like make the main 'blurp' under medicine cats and mention it under apprentices....Homework2 pass a notesign! 20:40, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

A solution would be to put the paragraph on apprentices directly below the medicine cat paragraph, and put the medicine cat apprentice paragraph at the end of the medicine cat paragraph. That way, the stuff on medicine cat apprentice can go with medicine cats (I think it's a closer match, personally) and more stuff on apprentices in general may be read right underneath. Airplaneman 21:18, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm...I like that idea.Homework2 pass a notesign! 21:35, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Well thought out! Excellent idea! Brambleclawx 00:32, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
I think the Aviator hit on it! How does he do that? PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:48, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
I forgot to tell him how good this idea was and changed it already! Derild4921 (talk) 11:03, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Extra work?

I was wondering what we could do to help this article to a GA class. There is relatively no activity now except for minor edit or the addition to the Setting and characters section. Derild4921Sign my guestbook please! 01:20, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
That's what Brambleclawx has been doing for the past few months, amassing around half a thousand edits on this very article so far. Please help :). Airplaneman 01:28, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Talk:Warriors (novel series)/GA2 lists some things that need to be improved. WP:GAC lists GA criteria. I've been aiming for GA status ever since I started on Wiki (November-ish). I'll be glad to have help! Brambleclawx 02:45, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Games section

It has always bothered me that the majority of the game section is about games from the website and there is also a section for the website. I was tempted to move the games on the website over to the Website section. Then I noticed it would be odd for games to be mentioned on the Website section but not the Games section. Does it not matter where it is or should it be moved? Thanks! Derild4921 19:53, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Easy, we move all of the games stuff over to the website section and get rid of the "Games" heading. Very good observation. PrincessofLlyr royal court 20:46, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Nice - go for it! Airplaneman 23:56, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Lead section

I condensed some paragraphs, as I have found GA and FA reviewers frown upon short 1- or 2-sentence paragraphs. The second para is now a bit large; please discuss below. Airplaneman 02:42, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Is this your way of heading off the bold-revert-discuss cycle? :) Para 2 is long, but otherwise I like the way you condensed. The only way I can think to shorten 2 is remove some of the "this series begins with and ends with...". Is that necessary? I think the one-sentence synopsis is good and release date necessary, but maybe not the first and last title. Sound good or terrible idea? PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:52, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... interesting point. I guess this is BRD, although I never thought of it that way :) (never even heard of it until mono brought it up yesterday). I'm on the fence on whether or not the first and last books should be included; I wouldn't mind either way; my thinking is that if some are included, why not all? I guess it's OK to remove them… I'll continue the BRD cycle by removing them as you not-so-terribly suggested. Airplaneman 02:56, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Well yes, if we're going to remove some, do all. Consistency is important. But really, that's the only info I could legitimately consider removing and splitting that paragraph simply does not make sense. We could consider just leaving that para long. I have no preference. I was kind of teasing about BRD, especially since I don't mind. PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:03, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I don't mind either. How d'ya like this? Airplaneman 03:08, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Looks good to me. PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:18, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Book titles

Should the separate book titles be bolded? I was reading through the article and I thought it may make it easier to read. Homework2 TalkWhat I do 17:34, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, the book titles are linked right? That should be seen easily unless I am mistaken and they are not linked. Derild4921 18:43, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, stylistically I'm not sure that should be done. They are linked and italicized which is about all we can do. PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:15, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Normally, titles of literature are just italicized. Only bold them if it's necessary to make them stand out. Brambleclawx 21:05, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Clans

Should we capitalize the word "clan" in the article? I know that names like RiverClan use a capitalized "Clan" (it's called Camel Case), but what about just the word by itself? Airplaneman 03:06, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I've wondered that before. I don't think they should be capitalized by themselves. PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:11, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, before I think I didn't capitalize it and Brambleclawx left a message telling me I should capitalize "Clan". Derild4921 18:49, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

It's capitalized when it appears by itself in the books, so I think that means it should be capitalized here. Insaneular (talk) 21:36, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I agree with Insaneular. Homework2 TalkWhat I do! 22:55, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)My belief, and feel free to object, is that since Clan is always capitalised in the books, it would be good practice, and something kind of like "follow the refs" to capitalise Clan (I am in a Clan. The Clan is ThunderClan. Don't step on the Thunderpath, or you'll be crowfood. I like fresh-kill. The best season in newleaf) Just examples of what should be capitalised, and what should not. We can discuss this more if needed, and maybe list what's capitalised and what's not on the project page. Brambleclawx 23:00, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I can support that. I don't really care, but if that's the way it is in the books (I didn't remember), then we should probably go with that. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:17, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
OK, I'll go with that; thanks BCx. As you can see, it has been a couple months since I've picked up a Warriors book :(. Airplaneman 01:50, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

References to plot?

Are they really necessary since it is obvious that they are taken from the books? The plot sections in the separate book articles rarely ever need to be cited since people will know the information if from the book. Is it different for this type of main series article? Derild4921 14:06, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

I agree. Looks like you need third party sources, like at Harry Potter#Plot. Airplaneman 16:04, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

List of book titles

Shouldn't the book titles be listed in chronological order? Here's the list:

                    The Original Series:
                     Into the Wild
                     Fire and Ice
                     Forest of Secrets
                     Rising Storm
                     A Dangerous Path
                     The Darkest Hour

                     The New Prophecy:
                      Midnight
                      Moonrise
                      Dawn
                      Starlight
                      Twilight
                      Sunset

                     Power of Three:

                     Dark River
                     Outcast
                     Eclipse
                     Long Shadows
                     Sunset

                     Omen of the Stars:
                     The Fourth Apprentice
                     Fading Echoes

Paleo Kid (talk) 18:08, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

In chronological order where? Where is there a list where the books are not in that order? Derild4921 18:14, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

There isn't. That's why I think there should be. Paleo Kid (talk) 18:31, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes there is. See the blue navigation box at the bottom of the article. Airplaneman 18:50, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
They're also mentioned in publication order under their respective series sections. Brambleclawx 15:55, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Oh yeah....I just now saw that. Next time I'll read the rest of the article first. Paleo Kid (talk) 19:04, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
