Largest man-made lake edit

The article says that Volta Lake in Ghana is the largest man-made lake in the world. Is it really bigger than the lake from the Three Gorges Dam in China? --Romanm 23:30, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Three Gorges Dam says its reservoir "can hold" 39.3 cubic km. Lake Volta says its "water volume" is 148 cubic km. If measured by surface area I'm not sure which wins out -- but I suspect that since Three Gorge's reservoir is in, well, gorges, it probably has a much smaller surface area. As for being the world's largest, that surprised me too -- would be nice to have a citation. Pfly 04:21, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
