Fair use rationale for Image:Traveller's Tales logo.jpg

edit

Image:Traveller's Tales logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Rename to TT Games?

edit

As discussed at Talk:TT Games Publishing, this company is known today as "TT Games". Traveller's Tales was originally an independent developer but in 2005 it bought out TT Games Publishing to form TT Games. While the name "Traveller's Tales" was used for (one of) the company's development units for a number of years, today it's mostly used as a synonym for the company as a whole, which includes other divisions.[1][2] Even the website is at ttgames.com.
We could also create a separate article for the merged company and move much of the info there, but we don't really need separate articles on all this company's divisions, especially since their internal structuring has evolved considerably since 2005 and most subsequent sources for "Traveller's Tales" are actually sources for TT Games.--Cúchullain t/c 16:48, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

There is a lot of confusion sourrounding TT Games as already seen on Talk:TT Games Publishing, but as it clears up, Traveller's Tales is a singular company handeled as a division of TT Games Ltd., which is a producction company for that matter. So either give TT Games content or leave it as a redirect. Lordtobi () 21:29, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Well, "Traveller's Tales" could just as easily redirect to TT Games, which is the name most people are likely to know and search for.--Cúchullain t/c 21:32, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Also, unless we spin off TT Games into a separate article, it should be bolded here per WP:R#PLA. It shouldn't be linked, as it just redirects back here. If the article is moved, conversely, Traveller's Tales should be bolded in the intro.--Cúchullain t/c 21:35, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
I see. However, moving Traveller's Tales to TT Games is a bad idea as that would just mass up the confusion. Traveller's Tales Ltd. is a company operated as division of TT Games Ltd., just like TT Games Publishing Ltd., and if moved it, it would be taken by readers as being the head company itself. Again, either full TT Games with content or leave it as a redirect. Lordtobi () 21:43, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think the question we need to ask ourselves is how can we cover the subject the best: as one comprehensive article, or as multiple articles for the divisions. If it's one article, it should be called "TT Games" as that's the broadest, and also the name that's more common in sources ([3] vs. [4]). Now that I've tracked down sources I'm happy to do the work, but I don't want to put a lot of effort into it until we sort it out. Perhaps we should start an RM discussion to get some more input.--Cúchullain t/c 21:55, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think the greatest issue with TT Games would be that you cannot differntiate between Traveller's Tales and TT Fusion anymore, and that TT Games Publishing is yet sommething different. All three had different back stories and found together at some point, which is now TT Games. That is also why that is so common. I might just repeat myself again: Articles on the companies are good, but if we do not have enough to cover the head company which you would prefer to put as a merge of those three, it will just be a loss in content because we cannot incorporate three different backstories (or 4 with TT Animation) into one article. Lordtobi () 22:02, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Well, there are definitely sources for TT Games. I don't see why we couldn't cover background material in a TT Games article, particularly for Traveller's Tales. The others don't have much in the way of background material, as they only existed for a few years before being acquired, but we could keep separate articles on those. At any rate it's time to get more input on this, I'll leave a note at WP:VG.--Cúchullain t/c 22:10, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Location

edit

Companies House, which is the official government source for registered companies in the UK gives the main office of TRAVELLERS TALES (UK) LIMITED as being in London, but it is clear from the company's own web site that it still has a substantial presence in Cheshire. A number of the company directors list addresses in Cheshire, the TT web site itself gives Knutsford and Wilmslow as contact addresses (along with Berkshire), and graphics/coding jobs on their vacancies web page (as of mid April 2017) mention Knutsford and Wilmslow, never London. The evidence seems to suggest that the Cheshire offices are still a large part of the business, so edits that give the impression they've moved entirely from Cheshire to London would be grossly misleading. If anyone knows the exact relationship between locations, please clarify the article and cite your sources -- thanks. JavaKid (talk) 12:33, 20 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Isn't this is the right logo to use on this article, not the TT Games logo? Adam9007 (talk) 22:52, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens

edit

I see no reason to exclude Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens from the list of games developed by Traveller's Tales. The ingame credits list TT Fusion as the developer, but the Steam page [1] lists Traveller's Tales as the developer, that is straight from the publisher. If the publisher does not differentiate, I don't see why we need to be pedantic enough to exclude it, as it is the only Lego game developed by TT Games/Traveller's Tales that is not in the list. It's only led to user confusion, as multiple editors have tried to re-add it upon seeing its exclusion. ScorchRaserik (talk) 06:16, 5 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

The publisher failing to credit the correct developer does not mean that we should to. The credits say TT Fusion, as do reliable secondary sources, so we should not confuse the two entities (especially not on purpose). This is not the only case either; Lego Jurassic World was also developed solely by TT Fusion per the credits and is consequently not listed here. The list is not supposed to be an exhaustive catalogue of games under the TT Games umbrella, but merely a list of games developed by Traveller's Tales. Games that do not fit this criterion are not listed, just like in all other game developer articles. The few editors who edited in either of the two games either assumed the list to represent TT Games (although it doesn't) or falsely assumed that Traveller's Tales developed all Lego games. But Wikipedia is not the origin of this confusion and the list currently serves its intended purpose. An exhaustive list of Lego games is instead found at List of Lego video games. defunct

the last update on the website is from 2023, meaning that it is no longer operational. please add it to the article. 84.208.108.74 (talk) 13:00, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

An outdated website is usually a sign of neglect more than it is of a defunct company. As far as I can gather, it presently operates as TT Games Studios Limited at a legal level. TT Games Publishing and TT Fusion have also been renamed away, so perhaps a consolidation occurred between December 2018 and January 2021. However, I haven't seen a reliable source on the how, why, or when exactly this occurred, so it is currently not included in the article. IceWelder [] 16:14, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
