Windows XP

edit

It just doesn't work under Windows XP. My solution was to run the game directly from the installed TIMEWIN.EXE (and not the malfunctioning CD-ROM menu), but not before changing its properties to:

"Compatibility"=>"Windows 98".
"Compatibility"=>"Disable visual themes".

Alas, you can't skip the cutscenes, as an attempt to do so halts the game.

See a whole discussion about it in this forum (watch the hint to use a program called "PE Explorer").

So did anyone manage to fix the ability to skip the cutscenes? -Lwc 01:10, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The recommanded way to run Time Commando on a recent computer is to use DosBOX to run the dos executable version version.

Solved! Who would have guessed it's that easy? All you have to do is:
  1. Install the game.
  2. Copy TIMEWIN.EXE to your hard drive (it will work anyway, but you can then optionally fix it with PE Explorer).
  3. Create a shortcut for it, but in the "start in" write "d:\" (or wherever the CD is in).
That's it! The shortcut will just launch the game in XP natively. No need to do any compatibility. You can even skip cutscenes. -Lwc (talk) 18:28, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Another solution!
  1. run cmd.exe
  2. enter cd drive
  3. write "timewin" and press enter
  4. thats it !

Trivia

edit

If found out that the two entries I added in a Trivia section were removed. It seems that 'trivia' sections are not welcome anymore on wikipedia, but I really wish the information to be back in some way in the page:

+ *The name of the hero, Stanley Opar is a pun. When pronounced out loud, it sounds like Stan Leopard. + *Some of the programers in the team were also active demomakers, members of the groups Pulse and NeXT.

I have somewhere on some backup cd roms the complete background design of the game, including the individual stories of characters, some original concept art, etc... Mike 17:04, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The addition of that information could be great for the article --Lashiec 17:31, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's not only Wikipedia:Handling trivia, but you directly asked to break the Wikipedia:No original research rule. -79.177.73.105 (talk) 17:47, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
