Time of recording

edit
  • Until we get a definite source, it should say unknown. Currently it's 50/50 between 1979 and 1991 if you look at most sites. I'm setting it to unknown now, with an added note that sources speculate between 1979 and 1991.
    • Now defined as "Unknown, c. 1979 or c. 1991" with sources on both claims.
    • Set to c. 1983 based on statements by Paul Anka [1]
  • Vocals were recorded in 1983, confirmed by Anka, while the rest was recorded in 2009. Ergo: Recorded: 1983 AND 2009. Do not change without posting here first. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lilduff90 (talkcontribs) 08:22, 15 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sa-Fire

edit

Should there be mention that Sa-Fire recorded the song in like 199O? Someone already added it to her page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sa-Fire —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.23.19.209 (talk) 23:26, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Single/Song

edit

What's with the debate about This Is It not being a single? It has been released to the media and radio stations, which sort of constitutes it being a (promotional?) single release.

-- Skywatcher17 (talk) 03:26, 14 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Being played on the radio is irrelevant - they could play Just Good Friends if they wanted, but that wouldn't make it a single. There is no single for TII. Sony says it's exclusively available on the album. You cannot get it on CD/vinyl/download. It's an album track. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.22.48 (talk) 17:56, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've just had to revert the same piece of vandalism that has taken place on each of the last 11 days. Proposal to lock the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.22.48 (talk) 17:19, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

If it's not a single, then perhaps it shouldn't appear in {{Michael Jackson singles}}. GregorB (talk) 10:46, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

It should be regarded as a "single", because the similar songs - Speed Demon, This Time Around, butterflies and so on are all released to the radios with promotional CD/LP, and it cannot be bought as a "single". They are "promotional singles", so "this is it" is also a promotional single. And as we know, Billboard only charts singles/promo singles, "This is it" was charted in Billboard, so it should be regarded as a promotional single. "This Is It" was released as single in Spain. http://promusicae.es/files/listastonos/historial/TOP%2050%20CANCIONES%2009_45.pdf This chart includes only singles released as physical and/or digital download. SJ (talk) 15:25, 29 Dec 2010 (UTC)

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I'll be your reviewer today. emergency exits are located here, here and here (hey, it's April fool's day, I'm allowed a sense of humour!).

Now then, technical stuff:

  • Nothing too problematic with you external links (the green ones are nothing to worry about- some websites do that, but the links work fine). You might want to check the NYT link.
I've corrected the link (you have to be a logged in member to the N.Y.T. to be able to access certain articles on their website). Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 16:16, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

All in all, this is a very impressive article and it makes very nice use of illustration, particularly that which is freely licensed. I can't see any specific issues that would prevent e from listing this and I hope you'll take it towards FA someday. Once the above are resolved, I'll be happy to pass it. I think I've corrected all the problems with the article now. Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 16:18, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'll pass it. I'm sure the OTRS ticket will check out, but I've asked someone to check it. Good work! HJ Mitchell | April Fool! 16:28, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

what does premier mean

edit

I noticed the wp:PR request about this article. Quick question: what is the meaning of saying a song premiered? The lede currently states that "The song was premiered worldwide on Jackson's official website on October 12, 2009." There's more in a later section. Does that mean the song was released in free audio files available at the website, or for purchase (at what price), or just that the song was "officially" announced in some way? I'm also not clear if the song was released separately or only as part of the album, from my quick reading. --doncram (talk) 23:14, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Singre status

edit

"I know" is not a reliable source. The only CDs you will find for This Is It are a couple that were leaked onto eBay. These are promotional CDs intended for radio broadcast only, that state on the bottom "not for sale". We are discussing a matter of fact, not opinion. Please quit reinstating this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.22.33 (talk) 17:33, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

The Girl Is Mine

edit

Is it me or is this song "The Girl is Mine" with changed lyrics and without Paul McCartney? It's tune is exactly the same! TrebleSeven (talk) 13:04, 31 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
