Timing Is Everything

edit

Luda is working hard to finish up the album, saying that a single is coming in the next few weeks, "Timing is everything."

That doesn't say that he has a song called "Timing Is Everything". If it was a track, the I and E would be capitalized. He is just saying that timing determines when you should release a single. SE KinG (talk) 04:30, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hip Hop Group is the most BS blog site ever. No way a little dinky blog could get the official tracklist about two months before the album release. SE KinG (talk) 02:23, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

They usually get it legit enough to believe its true.

Co-starring

edit

Due to some promotional gimmick where this album is being advertised like a show, the Tack list was called "Featured scenes" or some such and guests were labeled "Co-starring". The "Co-starring" keeps coming back. I have now labeled it "Featured guest(s)", consistent with all previous albums. Any changes back to "Co-starring" that do not give a solid reason why we are labeling featured guests as something other than that will be reverted without comment. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 14:07, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is co-starring. Ludacris revealed that is not featured guests, it's co-starring in an interview with MTV. Also all the singles have co-starring stated on them. SE KinG (talk) 06:08, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
When did Ludacris begin dictating what we write? Yeah, he calls them movies. How many legs would a cow have if we called its tail a leg? Four. What someone calls it doesn't change what it is. If the singles say "Co-star", they are also basing it on statements by Ludacris, so they would be wrong as well.
Incidentally, it is worth noting that you called them "singles", not "movies". Why? Because they are not movies.
If you believe that the songs actually are movies, then this album is merely a non-notable compilation box set. It would be absurd, of course, to argue that it isn't notable because the songs are songs, not movies, and the album is an album, not a compilation of movies.
If you would like to continue to argue that they are movies and, therefore, should be described as such, please demonstrate that they are movies. That is, provide reliable sources independent of the album/movie/whatever, Ludacris, his record label/movie company/whatever that calls the songs movies, not "conceptually like movies" or "sorta, kinda, almost similar to movies", "movies". (I will, of course, reply with ten times as many sources calling them songs, singles, etc.) Otherwise, I will restore the text shortly. If you still have an issue with it, and no one else comments, an RfC will certainly solve the question. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 12:45, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

No discussion, so I've changed it back. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 13:26, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why do you delete information that is 100% and clearly confirmed? If Ludacris said so himself that it's co-starring, then why shouldn't the featured guests be co-starring? SE KinG (talk) 20:49, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ludacris calls his album a "movie", the songs "scenes" and the featured guests "co-stars". Nevertheless, the album is an album. You haven't changed that ("Theater of the Mind is the sixth upcoming studio album..."). The songs are songs. You haven't changed that ("Confirmed tracks"). You have a bee under your bonnet about the featured guests. Why I do not know. Yes, we have it from reliable sources that Ludacris calls them "co-stars". No matter, they are still featured guests. You do not have a reliable independent source saying that they are co-stars. I'll wait a bit, again, for discussion, then change it back if there isn't any. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 21:13, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

MTV is a reliable source. And I'm pretty sure that the actual artist verbally saying the information counts as some what reliable. SE KinG (talk) 21:17, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Again, MTV did not say they are "co-stars". Ludacris said on MTV that they are "co-stars". Ludacris is not an independent source about his own album. If he said this is the best album in the history of the world, we could say that "Ludacris says this is the best album in the history of the world." not "This is the best album in the history of the world." - 21:23, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
I see that. And I agree with everything you've said except about featured guests. Yes, Ludacris said it, but it is listed on iTunes as co-starring and it is written on the singles covers.
The only reason I am pushing for featured guests to be co-stars is because it has references. People who are saying confirmed tracks should be scenes or singles should be trailers I don't agree with because no one has come across a reference stating that information. SE KinG (talk) 21:30, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Again, those are not independent of the subject. What the album cover or iTunes says is what the record label has released. There are no independent reliable sources using that terminology. Its all Ludacris and/or Disturbing tha Peace/def Jam. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 12:21, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Looking at the sources currently cited in the article, I cannot find one instance of any of the independent sources using that terminology. Billboard, an independent reliable source, in the single most cited source in the article, realizes they are "featured guests" though Ludacris "(bills them) as co-stars". Hip Hop Chronicle refers to them as "guest features" (then again, that lovely little source refers to Georgia as a "city" so...). The sohh blog cited (ugh) refers to the song "Everybody Hates Cris ft. Chris Rock". The other Billboard article mentions various "featuring"s, "featured"s and "guests". - Mdsummermsw (talk) 20:20, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Did you receive that in a dream or from a reliable source? - Mdsummermsw (talk) 12:21, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dream.

--Piazzajordan2 (Talk.) 22:38, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but barring any breakthroughs, that's not verifiable. Also, since I once had a dream involving Uma Thurman and Lyle Lovette, I can assure you that dreams are not reliable sources. In the future, please keep additions to the Talk page focused on improving the article. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 13:05, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tentative track listing

edit

Concerning this edit; DJBooth.com is not a reliable source. The track listing is not confirmed by reliable third-party sources, such as MTV.com. Also, note how website itself says it's a tentative track listing, meaning it's not written in stone and is uncertain. Until a reliable source confirms the track listing, it should remain off the article. Also, please discuss any problems before reverting to avoid an edit war. Thank you. DiverseMentality 06:55, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not to mention that the album will have 18 tracks. SE KinG (talk) 07:00, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK, what DO you consider a reliable source? We get our news straight from the labels, and no news gets on without the label's approval. Plus, Mr. DiverseMentality, I don't see an "admin" userbox on your user page. Tom Danson (talk) 18:35, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
You know, changing your comment won't hide anything. You write for the site and you think it's a reliable source, an obvious conflict of interest. I am not badmouthing anything or anyone, I'm simply following Wikipedia policy. Just because I'm not an admin doesn't mean I can't enforce policy. If you strongly feel DJBooth is a reliable source, please take it to WP:RSN and ask for comments. DiverseMentality 22:03, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Nasty Girl" produced by...?

edit

I just wanted to know if someone could edit the tracklisting page with the correct info for "Nasty Girl" because even though Theater of the Mind's booklet says the song is produced by Swizz Beatz, I believe it to be a typo since the beat sounds very similar to other Scott Storch beats and throughout the song there is a sound heard which sounds like someone whispering "Scott Storch" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Left-e88 (talkcontribs) 13:38, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here's the problem: the album booklet is a reliable source. Your opinion that it "sounds like" someone else's work is not. If the track is actually produced by someone other than who the booklet says, we'll have to wait for a reliable source to report it. - SummerPhD (talk) 17:16, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
