Movie List

Instead of two lists, I think there should be one list, with only films that have been released currently. Thus, I am removing all movies not released or movies that have an official release date (such as Doogal, etc.), and putting the films into one centralized list. Non Weinstein Films

The Brother's Grimm and Proof are both not Weintein Films. Proof can be found on the Miramax website and The Brother's Grimm, like The Great Raid, was one of the last of Disney's Dimension projects. Blockbuster Agreement

Something should be added about this ridiculous new agreement they have made with Blockbuster. Rotinhellorg

After reading their respective articles, I suspect Blockbuster was having trouble competing with Netflix so they tried to pull a fast one in the Fall of 2006 by eliminating a direct source of DVD titles, TWC.[1] I just heard about it and popped by to see if I was going to miss out on any movies worth seeing because of this ridiculous monopolistic arrangement made with Blockbuster. Fortunately most of the films listed are low budget or just plain strange (yes, my POV) so IMHO Netflix has little to fear from this arrangement. And, yes, in case it wasn't plain, I am a current Netflix subscriber. JimScott (talk) 15:31, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

independence

First of all, MGM does not own TWC; it just distributes some of their films. Secondly, Dimension is actually a subsidiary/sublabel of TWC. --(trogga) 07:26, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

That is all that needed to be said. Weinstein is independent, and it owns Dimension. MGM just distributes its films. Casey14 15:36, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Can anyone explain why the Halloween 2 DVD is distributed by Sony if MGM/Sony stopped their distribution of Weinstein Films in late 2008 just before Zack & Miri? ChesterG (talk) 14:58, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Weinstein methods

The Weinsteins (Miramax and the Weinstein Company) have a well-known reputation for mangling foreign films and film adaptations, chopping and changing films severely after test-screenings and keeping films in development- and post-production hell. For examples of how generally accepted this view is, see [here], [here] and [here]. The same fate seems to have befallen Killshot at their hands.

Loss of my rights???

The "Ex" was a great movie... Funny thing happened while I'm watching the movie. At the 20 minute mark, what do I see? Me on the stand testifying at my parent’s murder trial on the TV while Amanda is on the couch. I was curious if the producers were ever going to contact me to let me know I was appearing in a movie without my knowledge? Doing some research, the movie was allowed to use the footage because it appeared on CNN's Nancy Grace and was televised live on CNN. I just wanted to complain...

I think most images/film created by the US Government is automatically in the Public Domain, so I'd assume court case footage falls under this also, and therefore can be used without your permission for any purpose. Jacobitten (talk) 10:21, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Did they have anything to do with "The Hammer"?

I feel like I remember hearing Adam Carolla complaining that due to 'Hollywood Accounting' by the Weinstein brothers he receives nothing for the DVD sales on his movie "The Hammer". Were they involved in this movie? I don't see it listed on this page. Jacobitten (talk) 10:20, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
