Chris Macneil alive? edit

So Chris MacNeil will be alive in this new movie? Then how will they explain her being killed in the TV series? Isn't the TV series cannon? If so, this will be a contradiction of a major kind. AbbythecatAbbythecat (talk) 20:33, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

The series ignored the film's sequels, so I would assume Believer ignores both it and the sequels as well. Wyliepedia @ 01:50, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's
's sad they're ignoring the TV show because it was great. Season 2 was not as good as Season 1 but the set up for Season 3 (after losing his faith and retiring, the former Exorcist hears directly from God at the end of Season 2) could have been really awesome!
Was it really God who spoke to him? Or was it a trick from Pazuzu? We'll never know. 71.176.222.55 (talk) 16:08, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

One serious question edit

Is Regan MacNeil returning? 2605:59C8:6006:B610:BCA7:3642:5268:1133 (talk) 01:58, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

It was rumored in March 2023 that she would be. It has never been confirmed and probably won't be until it releases. Mike Allen 05:59, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hopefully she'll have a crucial role in the trilogy rather than cheap nostalgia bait. BlackBuick2099 (talk) 15:54, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Titles edit

Two of the characters are clergy, one a pastor, the other a priest. I really they should have appropriate titles reflecting that. Briaboru (talk) 14:12, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Voice of demon edit

Multiple IPs (from Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he is from) keep adding Nedim Jahic as voicing the "demon", but who the hell is he? I can't find where he is credited as the voice, and even so I don't think he's notable to include in the cast if film critics, and other reliable sources do not mention him. Does not ignore previous movies edit

Abbythecat (talk) 19:37, 8 October 2023 (UTC)there is nothing here that contradicts any previous movie in this series. It only contradicts the television series by having Chris be alive without any explanation. So perhaps the description of it ignoring the previous movies should be removed. What I mean is, after watching Believer, you won't think anything like 'hey, this movie contradicts 2 or 3'. It just doesn't. Abbythecat (talk) 23:01, 18 October 2023 (UTC)does anyone remember if this movie mentions any specific time for the original movie? For instance, does anyone say something like 'Reagan was possessed 50 years ago', or 'Reagan was possessed in 1973'? If so this might give a clue as to if this film counts 2 or 3, or if it disregards them. Thanks. abbythecat.Abbythecat (talk) 23:01, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Abbythecat (talk) 22:25, 19 October 2023 (UTC)in the plot for the film, Wikipedia lists 1973 as the year Reagan was possessed. Is this really stated in the movie? Or is it an assumption? Remember, according to exorcist 3, Reagan was possessed in 1975 (which is verified in the exorcism legacy book). So should 1973 be removed? Or is it actually said in this new movie? Unclear and Missing Cast credit edit

Hi everyone. The demon voices were created by Helen Leahey (top credit - see end credits), Christopher Allen Nelson and J. Moliere. After numerous attempts to add this, the fact keeps getting deleted. IMDb credits are only given the green light if it can be proven someone was in the film (screenshot of credits, payslips etc. sent to the IMDb team). Leahey went through this process (I know her) and is officially in the IMDb cast register for this movie. How can this be changed once and for all on this article? The vocals are an integral part of the film (think Mercedes McCambridge from the first) and it should be noted who performed them correctly. How the cast is written it looks like the actress Lize Johnston provided the voice for Lamashtu and this is simply not correct. Guinnesslassie (talk) 11:26, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Main Voice of Demon not Clear edit

Helen Leahey has now been added as a cast member, but it is still not clear that she is primarily voicing the demon. Again, I have tried to make this change but it keeps getting deleted. This is a significant fact as the Oscar winner Mercedes McCambridge, who lent her voice for the demon in the original 1973 movie also had to fight for her due credit to be given. Today it is recognised how integral McCambridge's performance was to the overall impact of the movie. Please see this source as verification that Leahey is the main vocalist for the demon: https://www.asoundeffect.com/exorcist-believer-film-sound/ and this source about McCambrige and her challenge regarding her credit: https://www.dreadcentral.com/news/299539/remember-her-name-mercedes-mccambridge-was-pazuzu-in-the-exorcist-but-her-name-was-cut-from-the-credits/ as well as the impact of her performance on the original movie: https://filmschoolrejects.com/mercedes-mccambridge-the-exorcist/ Guinnesslassie (talk) 10:53, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

You have a conflict of interest so you shouldn’t be editing anything about her. Mike Allen 11:56, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello Mike Allen. The conflict of interest is clearly stated on my profile and this does not in itself violate Wikipeida policy: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/draft
It is of course more desirable for a neutral party to report on this correctly but it has not happened to date. The facts I have stated are backed by reliable sources. Please see my last comment. Guinnesslassie (talk) 12:04, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
She’s credited at the end of the film and already been paid by the production company. That’s where the credit counts, not on Wikipedia. She is also listed along with the other two voice actors on the page. You want to put “primary” next to her name, when it’s not necessary. We can write all of that (going by your first source) in the casting section. Which I will later today. Mike Allen 14:49, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wikipeida is to date the 7th most visited website worldwide List of most-visited websites A credit counts here. Leahey's credit was also deleted again today whereas the two other credits for demon voices (who the sound supervisor has officially said played a minor role in comparison https://www.asoundeffect.com/exorcist-believer-film-sound/) were left in the 'Cast' section. Thank you for your input and help with this. Guinnesslassie (talk) 00:14, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Linda Blair's Cameo edit

The cameo was filmed in secret, and was not in the script.

"I told Ellen that Linda had agreed to do this, and they were going to be reunited. It was just something that felt right, and Linda felt comfortable. She walked in, and the moment was shared by the dropped jaws of the crew. The camera operator was crying, didn't know what was happening! The moment that you see Linda take a knee and take her hand is the first time they'd communicated in many, many years. It was the first take." - The Exorcist: Believer director David Gordon Green
