I must say, I am quite impressed with the work you have done here, Dom. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.210.24.14 (talk)

Unseen edits?

edit

I noticed when I went to edit something on this page that there were entered values that aren't showing up on the page? Eg: grades 7-12 and student publications: the Tower.

Name?

edit

Why is this named 'The Bishop's School (La Jolla, California)' when La Jolla isn't a city, but rather is a neighborhood in San Diego? Don't believe this is following wikipedia guidlines for naming articles. This should be named 'The Bishop's School (San Diego, California)'. I propose a move.

La Jolla is special. See the 'Identity' section on that page. Like Washington DC. -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 01:47, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Other

edit

I wanted to add in the sidebar box the names of the publications at the school (The Tower (the newspaper) and the Daily Urinal) but I can't get my edits to show up. Could someone correct this for me?

Thanks for wanting to contribute. It isn't a technical problem, it's a verifiability problem. "The Daily Urinal" is an uncommon name for a newspaper. I checked a bit on the web and coouldn't confirm it. Do you have a source that we can check out? -Will Beback · · 08:51, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I added back the Tower, since I know that one's legit. (Well it was back in the 90s...) -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 13:20, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's still called the Tower. thedialyurinal@gmail.com is the DU's email. There used to be a website from last year but it was apparently taken down (as it doesn't show up on my Google searches anymore). The DU is a fairly new publication at Bishop's (it is fighting with the Tower for the top publication spot). I think the DU was established in 2004. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.137.79.253 (talk)

Is it legit or an underground student thing, though? -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 18:27, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

As far as I am aware it is student run (with school approval). They may have a faculty adviser but I don't think so. It is a more reliable publication than the Tower and has higher stature with student body. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.137.79.253 (talk)

I'd feel better if we could find a ref to it on the website before adding it. No offense, but this is all unverified at this point. -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 19:53, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Daily Urinal

edit

I am the assistant editor of The Daily Urinal. It is an independent paper but it enjoys a far larger readership and level of respect than the official school newspaper, "The Tower." You can e-mail us at thedailyurinal@gmail.com and we will send you a few of our issues for verification. We lack a website right now because the paper is in effect run by two people (the editor and myself) who are very busy otherwise. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.27.65.11 (talk) 23:54, 2 May 2007 (UTC).Reply

So what you're saying is that it's not a 'school' paper, which means it shouldn't be in the infobox. -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 01:45, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

If your so dead against it from being official then mention it as something else but make sure you mention it. This is the main paper that is read by people at Bishop's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.239.240.224 (talk) 21:44, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reflection upon the school

edit

I have to say, quite frankly, that if I were a student at Bishop's, I'd seek to have this article deleted, so poorly does it reflect upon the school. While it seeks to brag about the school's greatness, what it does instead, unfortunately, is demonstrate that no one affiliated with the school has the patience or apptitude to learn about Wikipedia's editing policies, such as WP:NPOV, WP:OR, and WP:V. I urge someone at the school, be it teacher or student, to study up on these policies before a responsible Wikipedia editor comes back and reduces this to a one- or two-sentence article. I'm sure you've really got a very fine school, but this article belies that notion. Unschool 04:49, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced material

edit

There is much unsourced material in the article. I have no attachment but naming two specific students as creators of an email "paper" that named after a urinal seems a little hoaxy. I would advocate its removal pending references. Ifnord (talk) 20:01, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Move from The Bishop's School (La Jolla) to The Bishop's School

edit

I am proposing to move this page from its current title The Bishop's School (La Jolla) to The Bishop's School. There was only one other page with a similar name on Wikipedia, and after aligning the page name (The Bishop's School (Pune)) with its organization name (The Bishop's Education Society (Pune)), it is now not a similar title. As part the move, I also propose moving The Bishop's School (disambiguation). Pending any objections from the community, I will make the change. Editchecker123 (talk) 08:48, 29 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Since there have been no objections from the community on this thread, I will go ahead with the following:
1) tag The Bishop's School (disambiguation) with a WP:G6 speedy deletion criteria as it is a redirect we do not need any more
2) move The Bishop's School to The Bishop's School (disambiguation)
3) tag the newly created redirect The Bishop's School with a WP:G6 speedy deletion criteria as we do not need it anymore
4) move The Bishop's School (La Jolla) to The Bishop's School Editchecker123 (talk) 09:34, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi. This isn't how you request a move. Please see WP:RM for the correct procedure and to get input from the broader community. - Eureka Lott 19:22, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I’ve gone ahead and added a request on WP:RM. Editchecker123 (talk) 22:51, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
