2022 revision edit

As the Baltimore Banner launches, the lede section will need revision, while the "History" section gets demoted (moved "down"?) as a result of a slew of new information that should become available with the BB's launch in 2022. - Aboudaqn (talk) 15:52, 6 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Entry for The Venetoulis Institute for Local Journalism? edit

Perhaps someone should start a stub on The Venetoulis Institute for Local Journalism? Aboudaqn (talk) 16:41, 6 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Rewrite edit

I feel like this page should be rewritten to be more about the new Banner (a far more relevant topic) than the short-lived publication from which it takes its name. Right now, it seems like the page is being pulled in two different directions. The old Banner might merit a mention in the Sun’s page. Thoughts?Aresef (talk) 16:30, 9 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

No WP article should cover more than one topic whose only real relationship is that they happen to share the same name (WP:DAB). Once the new paper gets actually publishing, it could have its own article. The strike paper definitely merits being mentioned. If there is enough to say about it, it would get its own other article. Otherwise, it could go in the article about The Sun or the writers' guild. And the 2005 meaning seems totally non-notable for an own-article. Given three non-related meanings and wanting to avoid using WP:RECENTISM as a proxy of actual notability, I think this main article would best be a disambiguation-index. I think the page is about three different things right now. My argument against the recentism claim is that whatever comes of these next few years, it is a substantial moment in the history of Baltimore news media and, even if it folds after a few years, still will have been. See the ten-year test offered by that page. I think we should make this page about the publication that's about to launch and maybe spin off the other Banners into different articles as appropriate, with a disambig atop this one (and perhaps another to avoid confusion with the long-defunct tennis team Baltimore Banners). Fair?--Aresef (talk) 02:27, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hey, the Banner launched today. I wanted to nudge you about my response from way back. Aresef (talk) 17:14, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Always glad to see a plan come to fruition! [1] is third-party ref about the launch, so now we actually need to slice off the multiple meanings into separate pages. Will work on it shortly... DMacks (talk) 19:36, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I was actually working on a draft myself but hadn't totally fleshed it out. I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with and what I can add. Aresef (talk) 19:45, 18 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Where are you on this? Asking cause this page is getting a bit confused between the iterations of papers by this name. Aresef (talk) 15:06, 15 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
