Problem with Popplers

Regarding the most recent edit: I don't recall any mention of Bender actually cooking or enjoying cooking in The Problem with Popplers, am I just missing it or is this an erroneous statement? Stardust8212 19:37, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

He doesn't actually cook. He was going to until they realised they were out of supplies, forcing them to land on the Poppler planet to scavenege.

He does actually make something - I forget what it was (something like baking soda and peppercorns in a pile) before they go scavenging and find the popplers. --DK 04:34, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Just before Bender eats the Pie prepared by Helmut Spargle there seems to be something written in Arabic in it. Anyone notice? Anyone can translate? My knowledge of Arabic doesn't get that far. Nachovaca 20:04, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Nacho

Spargle or Spargel

In the Plot section "Helmut Spargle" is written as "Spargle", but in the Cultural references section as "Spargel" in reference to spargel. Does anybody know the correct name (from the script)? Cfilorvy 13:26, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Unsourced material

The following is unsourced information:

• It is said that Bender would like to make good-tasting meals but can’t because he has no sense of taste (as alluded to in previous episodes, such as “My Three Suns”). However, near the end of the episode “A Fishful of Dollars”, he could taste, as he spits out Fry’s anchovy pizza (as does everyone else except Fry) however this could be due to the oil in the anchovy which, after a thousand years, might be rejected by Bender.
• Bender’s original role, as shown in some production sketches and part of the Director’s commentary, was supposed to be that of the ship’s (horrible) chef. However, it was decided that he would have no real purpose, although he has cooked on occasion.

While this is interesting, we can't use it unless you provide a source. Also, none of this is really trivia, as trivia by its definition is "unimportant information" - it therefore shouldn't be in a trivia section but instead the information should be incorporated into the main article. - Tbsdy lives (talk) 08:17, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

One of the cultural references states: The scene where the hobos are drawn to the smell of the pie is a parody of Monty from Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, who is drawn to the smell of cheese in the same manner. In the DVD commentary someone introduces the scene as 'the greatest version of this joke'. This suggests to me that the writers were parodying the general cartoon cliché of characters floating towards a pleasing aroma, rather than the specific implementation of it in Rescue Rangers. If a source can be found indicating that Chip 'n' Dale was being specifically referenced, then great. Otherwise I think this spurious assertion should be removed. I'd say go ahead and remove it, but I'd be fine with removing the entire section until someone comes up with sources for it so I may be considered a bit of an extremist. The joke is certainly used in many places other than Chip 'n' Dale so no reason to specify that usage certainly. Stardust8212 13:49, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

I already removed this reference. Don't remove the entire section; from an encyclopedic point of view, I believe the cultural references section is the most useful part of the episode articles, and the only one that has any real value to researchers using WP as a resource.
