Reports of TWISTEX members deaths

edit

I can safely say that Tim, his son Paul, and Carl lost their lives May 31. This is through Tony Laubach's facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TonyLaubach/posts/10151464347756279). I'm sure we'll see actual news articles shortly (whatever anyone does, don't link to TheWeatherSpace.com as they are not credible in the weather news community). --Maqattaq (talk) 13:20, 2 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Now reported as confirmed on The Weather Channel. Same tornado that threw Mike Bettes's crew 200 yards. rdfox 76 (talk) 14:57, 2 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I see it's on the article page. We need to have it cited. --Maqattaq (talk) 15:01, 2 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

"Former TWISTEX members"

edit

Should the ones that passed really be placed in a catergory such as that? They were members of TWISTEX when this happened as far as I know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrk74 (talkcontribs) 20:19, 2 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Article Omits Essential Information

edit

There is absolutely no information here about the founding, funding, and affiliations of TWISTEX. It appears to be a one-man show by a "scientist" and "engineer" without a degree who parleyed his celebrity as a TV stormchaser into a National Geographic-funded private venture that found a way to monetize risky behaviour. If any actual scientific data was obtained by this outfit, which looks a lot like cowboy science aimed at providing thrill footage for couch potatoes andgorgeous weather porn for the waiting-room crowd, it should be provided. The role of National Geographic and other funding sources should not be scrubbed, it should be highlighted.

As it stands this is little more than a tribute page for the victims of a tragedy that could have been avoided. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.225.131.141 (talk) 18:44, 22 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Large chucks of the article are plagiarized

edit

The sections "Tornado core sampling," "Tornado proximity environment sampling," and "TWISTEX publications" all seem to be copied from the, now defunct, twistx.org [1][2]. The core and environment sampling sections date back to the article's creation in November 2009. The publications section dates back to October 2010‎.

Given the age and amount of the plagiarized content I'm unsure of what actions to take, figured I'd make a note here though. InterInject (talk) 06:29, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
