The poster of this blog (http://toysaregoodfood.com/content/archives/000138.html) claims he worked at a local TV station (WEYI-TV 25) and he was told that in their version of the show at least there was just someone pressing the fire button every time the kid said "pow". Perhaps larger TV stations might have gone into the trouble of making an actual system to support voice recognition (sound activation rather) but it seems unlikely to me.

This is the first time I've encountered the "sound activation" theory, and it sounds rather dubious to me. --Action Jackson IV 01:20, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't see why. The Intellivision Lives link referenced in the article actually says that the distributor supplied consoles specially modified for voice activation, and that Intellivision supplied modified versions of their games for TV POWWW until 1983.--Enwilson (talk) 08:03, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

All I have is my own recollection for this, but at one time (circa 1980-81) TV Powww was regularly featured on WMC-TV5 Memphis' "Wake Up Call" program hosted by Dick Hawley and Peggy Rolfes. They used Intellivision games, which callers to the show would play in order to win money.--LaoKtn (talk) 01:33, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
