Tempo trainer A beeping clock attached to a swimmers cap or goggles helps maintain a certain arm tempo or speed. As each beep is heard, the next stroke, or cycles of strokes, should be taken.

Requested Change: Add "Originally manufactured by FINIS." Source 1 - Current Product Page: https://www.finisswim.com/Tempo-Trainer-Pro?quantity=1 Source 2 - Scroll down to 2001 for Tempo Trainer history: https://www.finisswim.com/our-story "TIMING IS EVERYTHING 2001 - FINIS designed the Tempo Trainer with the intent to help swimmers manipulate and regulate the two performance-related variables: stroke rate and distance per stroke. This underwater metronome has since evolved into the Tempo Trainer Pro, with three different modes for use in and out of the water."

Zoomers A type of rubber swimming fins, zoomers are cut off fins with the holes in the bottom. They help make the swimmer kick faster, but at the cost of working harder.

Requested Change: Add "Originally manufactured by FINIS." Between 2003 and 2007, FINIS absorbed Dr. Hull’s business, and today, FINIS proudly sells the Z2 Zoomers, and the Zoomers Gold internationally." 64.85.252.126 (talk) 00:37, 1 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Discussion re: Infobox field: mgender edit

I've only recently heard of the mixed events at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo; given that, it seems appropriate to add the |mgender field to the sport infobox.

However, it's not clear to me what to content to add, and given the discussion on the sport template talk page I'm not alone.

Hoping to get contributions to the above discussion.

Suggest that the first sentance, "Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water." be modified to this:

Competitive swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. Positivejls (talk) 20:19, 18 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done: The inherent definition of swimming as provided does not change between competetive and non-competetive settings. I Am Chaos (talk) 23:31, 19 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

The officials section is out of date. There are other changes that need to be made beyond those I outlined. The new rules can be found at https://resources.fina.org/fina/document/2023/01/04/65961a45-bde5-4217-b666-ca1f5dc2d1f0/1_Swimming-Technical-Rules.04.01.2023.pdf

Some specific changes:

The Clerk or Course changed to Call Room Supervisor and it seems some duties changed: The Call Room Supervisor assembles swimmers prior to each event. The supervisor is also responsible for enforcing rules of the swim meet if a swimmer chooses to not show up ("No show" - NS) to their events or any violations regarding swimwear and advertising.

Video Review Supervisor and Judge added: Video Review Judges ensure that the rules related to the style of swimming designated for the event are being observed, and observe turns and finishes. Any violations are reported to the Video Review Supervisor.

The Video Review Supervisor reviews and confirms infractions reported by the Video Review Judges or as requested by the referee. Any violations confirmed in the video review are reported to the Referee. Demishtoid (talk) 21:57, 27 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
