References

edit

I'm sure there are a few references out there but how could anything considered an appropriate citation compare to actually going out there, speaking to people, viewing the art, living amongst it, contributing to it and enjoying it? I'll source some references later. Nick carson (talk) 02:46, 22 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

http://www.stencilfestival.com/ and http://www.peterjohnchen.com appear to be down, and the Stencil Graffiti Capital book should be used as a reference, if someone happen to read it. Comte0 (talk) 14:16, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have read it, it's not fantastic, but it ain't bad. You can put it in yourself if you like! Thanks. Nick carson (talk) 05:39, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fact tag

edit

...a perspex screen was installed to prevent a Banksy stencil art piece from being destroyed, it has survived since 2003 through the respect of local street artists avoiding posting over it.[citation needed] - This hardly qualifies to be fact tagged. The assertation is verifiable by virtue of the fact that the work was not postered or tagged or stenciled over. Nick carson (talk) 05:59, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notable Melb Street Artists

edit

PLEASE NOTE: Only include artists that are verified as being notable within Melbourne. If you feel a street artist is notable, discuss the reasons here first so we can determine wether or not they are notable. Nick carson (talk) 02:28, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Phones + Lights

edit

Some other notable street art in Melbourne is pay phones, but situated so high up no-one can reach them. They continually ring and play scary music. The second is a thing, hard to describe, that when you walk under it, lights start flashing, a voice starts, and it tells a story. I can't describe either in any more detail than that, I'm afraid. Sorry. Hope it helped and these get put into the article (: --Flashflash; 07:17, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

You can put it in there yourself! :] Search for more info, find out who put them there, talk to them, write about it. Nick carson (talk) 05:37, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

File:Miso Ghostpatrol Zelda Melbourne.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

edit
An image used in this article, File:Miso Ghostpatrol Zelda Melbourne.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Reviewed the entire article and have added citation and dead link tags, as a couple of websites no longer exist. I will try and do research in due course.--Soulparadox (talk) 07:54, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Melbourne Street Art 86

edit

http://melbournestreetart86.blogspot.com.au/

I was considering the possibility of adding this website to the links section of the page as it has a substantial amount of location data and reference photographs of most of the main Melbourne street art sites in the central area and inner suburbs. While it is entirely non commercial and created as a free resource for visitors to help them find street art in the city, I created the site and it is hosted on a blogging network, and it would seem a conflict of interest for me to do so - so I will leave it up to other editors to consider the merit of doing this. The site also includes location maps. I cannot upload the main maps to Wikipedia commons as they include photographs of legal street art which is copyright of the artists concerned, but I am creating version of suburb maps on the 'Other locations' pages which do not have photographs or site branding and gradually uploading them to Wikipedia commons. The first of these, of central Melbourne is uploaded http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Main_street_art_locations_in_Melbourne.pdf and there might be a case to make use of it on the this page Mesmacat (talk) 19:00, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mesmacat, I would make two suggestions to bring this forward. For the map, if you could upload an SVG version rather than the PDF would be much better as it would allow to be further developed by other editors. In terms of visitor information, I would suggest a comprehensive visitor guide could be hosted on wikivoyage, and that could be prominently linked to from this article. --ELEKHHT 23:15, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I will look into creating a SVG version for the maps. And the wikiguide is a nice idea. Hopefully someone else will take up the suggestion. I don't have the time to create something like that on top of maintaining a substantial website on the subject, but I can make the resources from the site available to someone who does. Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Street art in Melbourne. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
