Introductory Paragraph

This part of the page needs to be edited also. I'll do my best but if I can't, not all of the words need to be in the intro. They can be divided into other sections below it. Knuckles sonic8 14:45, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

I made the article much more presentable, now. Knuckles sonic8 15:23, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

GA revamp

All right. Sergecross73, ThomasO1989 and I have agreed to start working on the article and make it a GA. For a good example of what a GA article should look like, see Crash Team Racing and Crash Nitro Kart. If there are any suggestions, please post them here. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 19:24, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

You mentioned Crash Bash on my talk page, and I think that could be another good one to reference, due to the genre similarities. Sergecross73 msg me 19:27, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
Yep. And also, another example of a game would be Crash Boom Bang!. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 19:42, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

No development section?

I just realized that the article has no development section. I'm going to try to find some sources on this matter, but if anyone else can find them, please post it here. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:02, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Development sections are often the hardest to find sources for (at least in my experience). Interviews are often good starting points. For the time being we could state things like who developed the game, who directed, wrote music, etc. I'm not saying that we list off all the staff, but it's a good start. We can also include release information. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 03:31, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
Oh, crap! I forgot about the release information. We should look for some interviews in this case. Some of the staff is mentioned in the infobox though. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:33, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
In regards to what you said on my talk page, I don't personally have any hard copy magazine sources, but in my experience its pretty easy to find magazine scans for such mainstream games like Sonic. I'll look some soon. Sergecross73 msg me 02:27, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Understood. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:47, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Sources and points of interest

Points of interest
  • The game was initially titled/rumored to be titled Sonic Square. (I had completely forgotten about that, but I do remember that to be true back in the day.)
  • Early reports/plans said there would be online/network play, which I believe was removed, right? (I haven't played the game in years and have since sold my Dreamcast.)
  • One source refers to Cel-shading , which should probably be mentioned here more than it is. (It's currently only a category as of writing this.) It uses Jet Grind Radio as a comparison point too, which could be helpful to the uninformed general audience.

I don't know how much time I'll have to do full on article writing like this today, so feel free to add. Otherwise I'll do it eventually. Sergecross73 msg me 16:08, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

For the scans, I am totally unsure where the page numbers are and what the date of publishing is. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 16:21, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
So far, I can only piece together some of them. For EGM, its pages 146 and 147. For DM, it's issue 10, which I intitialy thought we could use to figure out the date if we knew the start of the publication, but it appears it switched from monthly to bi-monthly at times, so that would be hard to figure... Sergecross73 msg me 16:27, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Which EGM issue date would that be, I wonder? About the interviews, where can we find them at? I found one of them from CVG's mobile website, but when it's switched to the classic version, it doesn't really work. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 22:31, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
I can verify the EGM scan is legit, I had that magazine a decade back, but I'm 99% sure I gave them away years ago. Perhaps Google can help me out... Sergecross73 msg me 14:34, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
According to this old report from GameSpot, the Sonic Shuffle announcement from EGM was in the July 2000 issue obviously. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 15:44, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
Nice find! There we go on that one then... Sergecross73 msg me 15:47, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
  • If we ever find enough to warrant a "Legacy"-type section, its interesting that Sonic Shuffle had its trademark renewed back in 2008. See here. Though, nothing ever came of it, so it might only be interesting if they ever do re-release it, that it was renewed way back then.
  • Looks like fansites have scanned the manual, so that could be helpful as well. See here. Sergecross73 msg me 16:20, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
    • Yep. I'm using the manual to reference gameplay and part of the story and characters section (the rest is filled with quotes). Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 16:27, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
      • Yeah, I was just looking at those quotes. Is there a game script out there? Or are you literally using the game itself? Sergecross73 msg me 16:36, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Gamepro Review

The article lists it as a 4.5/5 score, which surprised me because its rather high. I tried to look it up but the web archive wasn't loading for me. I did notice that Metacritic has it listed as an 80/100, which would be a 4/5. That's still surprisingly high, but lower. Any idea which one is right? Sergecross73 msg me 17:50, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

According to the GamePro source, the game has an "average user score" of 4.6/5, an "average critic score" of 3.2/5, and overall "fun factor" of 4.0/5. So I guess the latter is right. ~ Satellizer el Bridget ~ (Talk) 06:02, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Satellizer brings up a good point here. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 06:22, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Since 4/5 seems to be the correct score I went ahead and changed it. ~ Satellizer el Bridget ~ (Talk) 10:46, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Very good. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 15:29, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Never played this game before. Given what I've read about it, maybe that's a good thing JOEBRO64 22:30, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

I played it for an hour, it's horrible. I'll get to Sonic Runners soon, just finishing up another project... TarkusABtalk 22:45, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

Almost there, just a few comments:

  • The footnote in the infobox about the producers seems a bit like WP:OR; I'd either source or remove it
    • Done
  • I'd link to video game clone at "Critics classified Sonic Shuffle as an inferior clone of Mario Party"
    • Done
  • I think it's worth mentioning that Sega confirmed a Sonic-themed spinoff game was in development in October 1999, alongside Adventure 2
    • Cool, added
  • The reviewer name's aren't really needed—they kinda add clutter, and many of their statements can be made with simply the publication's name
    • Yea I'm not sure I like doing that anymore either.

Otherwise this checks out. JOEBRO64 15:29, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
