Sonic Advance 3, Sonic Adventure 2

In reference to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sonic_Adventure_2&diff=36820690&oldid=36632566

When you consider Sonic Advance 3 was released 3 years after Sonic Adventure 2, it doesn't make much sense to claim that the song in Sonic Adventure 2 is a remix of a song in Sonic Advance 3 - it would be the other way around. And even then, the song in Sonic Advance 3 is less of a remix and more of an "adaptation" - it's still the same song, it's just been scaled down to utilize the GBA sound hardware, that's all. Plot descriptions

Personally, I thought mine were better. Shorter, to the point, and written better. :P Gave you a taste of the plot while still stimulating curiosity.BlazeHedgehog 02:46, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey, be bold and edit them. I think they're too long, especially in proportion to the rest of the article. Paul Haymon 03:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I know this isn't helping Wikipedia, but...WHY!!?!?? WHY WOULD THEY LET SHADOW DIE?!!? Yes, the scond plot sypnosis for the Shades was to have him actually DIE. SEGA may have even tried to fallow through with this idea when SA2 first sold, but they FINALLY realized that he was too much of an awesome bishie to die. And then they screwed up his WELL-DESEARVED comeback with Shadow The Hedgehog. It may be his game, and the first in the Sonic Series to have a game name solely after oneself (Knuckles shared a title in Sonic and Knuckles), but that DEFINATELY wasn't SEGA's best work. I personally don't like it because 1)It's third-person shooting style, which, IMO, is the second worst style, beaten only by first-person shooting (Yuck.), And 2)It was the first Sonic Series game to be rated E10+, though many parents argued that it should've been rated T because of its "excessive" cussing, and "inappropriate" language, even though SEGA deleted a good portion of the curses of that of origanally planned. I do, however, just remember walking behind my mother in GameStop when I was 9, and I can, barely, but clearly, remember seeing a Shadow The Hedgehog game, and I saw a T symbol on it. If it was an early copy, or a typo, I'm not sure. It was 4 3/5 years ago. Though he DID have a good gameplay in Sonic Next Generation, SEGA decided to exclude him completely from Sonic Unleashed. It just seems like SEGA is losing some of the more popular playable characters in the past few years. Cream the Rabbit hasn't been seen, if I'm not mistaken, since her 3-second cameo appearance in SA (though, according to Sonic X, she was in the sidelines in the SA2 part, episodes 33 through 38, but that is canical). Mighty hasn't been heard from for nearly a decade and a half. And Charmy (Thankfully!!) hasn't been seen or heard from (YAY!) since Shadow The Hedgehog; he hacked into the computers by ramming into them with his stinger. And now, we haven't seen Shadow since 2006- nearly three years! I am pretty releaved that he appeared in Sonic and the Black Knight, portraying Sir Lancelot. I say it's SEGA's wasy of saying, "This is Shadow, and although you haven't played him since Next Generation, we are here to tell you that he is not forgotten; here he is, one of the Knights of the Round Table, or at least portraying him, Sir Lancelot." So basically, we can't count him out yet; SEGA just isn't making as many main-console games since they created the StoryBook Series. Plus they put Blaze in Sir Percival's spot, maybe to show she hasn't been a two-shot (or one-shot. Whichever you say.) this whole time after all, *hint**hint*. I simply hope the next Sonic game, whatever it may be, brings back Shadow; he could kinda use the popularity boost, now of all times. -MaceKiwi 3-4-09

Branching storyline

Just about everything on the Shadow the Hedgehog page has sources for it's features listed, but there's no source for where the branching storyline trivia came from, thus it's unknown if that's true or it's simple lies. Proof plz? --Ragey 13:05, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Unfortunately, many Sonic news sites have had mishaps with news archives. TSSZ is defunct and SonicHQ's news archives only go back to 2002 (which is odd, they used to go back all the way to 1998). I am the one who wrote the bit about the branching storyline; as I recall, a Dreamcast Magazine - I believe one from the UK - got a chance to head up to Sega to look at an in-progress version of Sonic Adventure 2. They reported on several things, including concept art for Sonic Shuffle (which was mistakenly said to be for SA2). Of the concept art they described, I remember:
  • "Dark Sonic" (Shadow), said some concept art featured him missing an eye.
  • "Nails the Bat" (Rouge), a female spy character, thought to be the Anti-Tails (as her name rhymed). This was the first mention of a Bat character, ever.
  • An Angelic Creature, described as resembling the little girl from the end of the first Silent Hill (could be Maria)
  • Angel (Hero) and Devil (Dark) Chao
  • A Many-eyed Creature (Unknown Origin; perhaps early Biolizard concept art, or Void)
  • A Flying, Troll-Like Creature (some believe this to be an early incarnation of Lumina Flowlight)
There was a lot of speculation at the time as to wether or not these guys were legit, but considering the final released copy contained the Angel/Devil Chao, it was more or less confirmed to be true, even moreso after Shadow the Hedgehog implemented the branching storyline pathways. They were the ones who described the submarine scene; they also mentioned that Chao would be closer related to unlocking secrets.
Unfortunately, all of this news was back in 2000. Unless there's scans of all this sitting somewhere, most of the news sites that reported these then-rumors are gone. Which means: You're going to have to take my word for it. Surely there are more people out there who remember these things to back my story up, as I know I'm not alone.
BlazeHedgehog 14:34, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm glad to at least know it came from a magazine, and not some obscure "fact" that was passed along a forum. --Ragey 14:44, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

I think I can help you there. If you know these defunct websites' addresses, type it in the search box at http://web.archive.org - The Wayback Machine. You might find old versions of websites, and therefore, closed websites as well. But images often aren't there, so I hope these sites didn't require Flash or some other multimedia plug-in! Digifiend

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle

Shouldn't this game get it's own article? Sonic Adventure DX does. -- ChessManXI 03:30, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Either that or Sonic Adventure DX's article should be combined into the main Sonic Adventure entry, which I think would fit the situation better. -- BlazeHedgehog 11:39, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Why does this article exist? In my opinion, remove all the important info, put it into the Battle section of the Sonic Adventure 2 article, and delete the other one. Paul Haymon 19:15, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Soundtrack

Is there any information on the soundtrack to this game? The music is really good, and I was hoping I would get some info on who are the artists, if there is an official soundtrack for purchase and stuff like that.--Martin925 03:11, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Actually, there is, and I own it. I'm not sure about any info on it but I'll look into it later. =) Alakazam9891 14:25, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Characters

On the subject that originally, only Sonic, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman were the only cast of playable characters, and that Tails, Rouge, and Shadow were added later, comes Official US. Dreamcast Magazine, December 2000:

"Although only a few characters have been revealed so far (Sonic, Knuckles, and Dr. Robotnik), sources tell us that five new characters, pulled from former Sonic games on Genesis, Game Gear, and arcade platforms, will also join the party-introducing new styles of game play in the process."

While generally not 100% true, the whole point if videogames is that it's very possible to change stuff drastically before it hits retail. In the same month, the Official UK Dreamcast Magazine had words with Yuji Naka:

"When asked if Tails was going to be in Sonic Adventure 2, Naka replied that no he wasn't. When asked if Tails the Fox would make a comeback he said he couldn't say anymore which suggests that Tails may come back seeing as most developers say things like, 'Sorry but we have finally scrapped this.' I hope this will end months of specualation of Tails being in SA2."

Hope this clears stuff up. BlazeHedgehog 04:26, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

This isn't GameFAQs

Both 151.203.62.185 (talk · contribs) and 203.184.53.184 (talk · contribs) have added material that explains how to win the game; something you'd only find at a strategy game site like GameFAQs. Some of the additions are good, but most are of the strategy guide type. I've checked 151.203.62.185 but I'll need some help to get this stuff out of the article. There were also these types of comments before the two anons edited the article. Also, exclaimation points (!) are littered throughout the article. Wikipedia articles generally do not contain exclaimation points. -- RattleMan 03:48, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I was just thinking about this before I went to bed last night. Almost wiped out all the "Strategy guide"-esque text right there, but figured it'd be better to sleep on it. I remember I got yelled at for putting mission objectives for the stages in Sonic Heroes, so I reverted it to just a list of stages. Directions to acquire items like the bounce bracelet and stuff probably don't belong. BlazeHedgehog 09:01, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

I have seriously gutted the Stage List section, removed the Special Items section, made some minor edits to the story section (hanging questions at the end of a plot synopsis is fine if you're trying to promote the game, but doesn't fit with an article meant to be purely informative), and removed all cleanup flags. - Kalarchis 02:06, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Test Zone?

What Test Zone? I can't seem to find it on the Internet. Is it in the GameCube version? I have an Action Replay, and I'd like to know what the codes are. Darklinkskywalker 03:23, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Test Zone is a location in the game where designers tested the game before making actual levels. It is a big, featureless room, with objects to test player interaction with. Collision detection, game mechanics like grinding, etc. To access the Test Zone in the Gamecube version, enter this Action Replay Code:
BPMU-HT2R-X7BA2
Q95B-WV0J-10V85
H2E9-MAE2-U5PEE
After you enter that code, access level select, and select a level - such as, say, City Escape. The minute you select the level from the map screen, hold Up on the D-Pad. Once the titlecard comes up ("City Escape - Mission: Escape Military Pursuit!" for example), you can stop holding up. It should load the test level after that! Any character you select on the map screen (for example, let's say you select Pumpkin Hill, with Knuckles) will warp to this level as long as you hold up immediately after you select it on the map. BlazeHedgehog 02:36, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm new to this accesing stuff. Can somebody tell me what Action Replay is and how I can get it?

This is Wikipedia. If you want to know what something is, simply search for it. In this case, enter Action Replay in the search box to your left. BlazeHedgehog 18:50, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Second person usage

Can someone look over and help me edit the article to change the second person use (wherever it says "you") to third person (example: "the player", "he or she")? I've fixed some of this, but I would appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Is it true that both Super Sonic and Super Shadow...

are playable in 2P mode? -Stanleyscup07 02:15, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

I've wondered this myself! I heard that if you get all the emblems (complete every mission of every level with every character, and every boss attack mode, and every chao race and karate, and every kart race, and get an A rank on every mission of every level to get the extra emblem for every charecter to get all 180) then you can play as Super Sonic and Super Shadow in two player mode. SOMEONE WHO HAS ALL THE EMBLEMS FOR SA2 OR SA2B, PLEASE REPLY! CAN YOU USE SUPE SON AND SUPE SHAD IN 2P MODE? Thanx.

According to official strategy books, it seems you can't use Super Sonic or Super Shadow in 2 player mode. Trust me. I haven't gotten all the emblems but I know this for a fact.

I don't know why I'm even deigning to reply to this obvious foruming, except that I do have all 180 emblems (fired up my game a few hours ago for the first time in quite a while, they're still there) and can confirm that there is no Super Sonic / Super Shadow unlock for the 2P mode. Sigh...

This article needs a lot of work. Contrast it with the Sonic Adventure article. That's what this article needs to look like. Paul Haymon 22:12, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

As per my own suggestions, I just removed a bunch of unnecessary text. Paul Haymon 22:19, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
There needs to be more detail about the actual gameplay. I added some information, but there is more work to be done. Paul Haymon 03:58, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

The article incorrectly states that NIDS is a fictional representation of AIDS. NIDS is a real condition unrelated to AIDS. http://nids.net/nidsfactsheet.pdf Sock-fox 11:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Is this a suitable redirect?

I just made the redirect page SA2:B. I use it as an abbreviation for Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and I've heard it be used by a few others as well. Is it appropriate to have a redirect for a section of an article like Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is right now? --LuigiManiac 13:55, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but it's best to put it on SA2B as well because most people I've seen don't use a colon when referring to it. -- RattleMan 16:43, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Done. --LuigiManiac 04:13, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

suggestion

shouldnt we add a glitch section to the SA2:B part of this article concerning the glitches, like flying out of chao garden and returning to see all your chao drowning in he ground? or the one with the hero garden screwing up rouges eyes?--Fred Fredburger: Lord of Horror 19:52, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

No, bad idea. You can link to a Glitches FAQ, though. -- RattleMan 21:06, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Plot Section

Having never played SA2, I'm not really in a position to trim this section myself, but boy does it need editing. It's far, far too long and the quality of the writing is appalling. I'd also say that the "Villains" section needs a look at for the same reasons (certainly length-wise anyway). SpinachPuffs (talk) 15:30, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I looked at the Polish Wikipedia, even though I can't read it. At first glance, the article really isn't looking too terribly impressive especially considering the many lists of stages, bosses, and other things rejected by the English Wikipedia's standards.
In any case, I have trimmed the plot section, going by examples and the plot summary guidelines as much as I could. If anyone would like to reassess it, feel free. --Onore Baka Sama (talk) 14:44, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Dr. Eggman/Robotnik

I might sound a little silly for asking, but does it really matter what his name is on the page? He's known by both. Mokoniki (talk) 02:08, 9 August 2009 (UTC)Mokoniki

Considering that Dr. Eggman is purely referred to in this game as "Dr. Eggman" in both the Japanese and English adaptations, it should be "Dr. Eggman", with a side note mentioning that he was known as Dr. Robotnik in the previous American adaptations such as the first Sonic Adventure. Calling him "Dr. Eggman" will make him immediately recognizable to all users, not just the Sonic fans. Onore Baka Sama (talk) 15:53, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
It should be mentioned that he was only called Dr. Robotnik in Sonic Adventure 1 and no other 3D game. The only references to his last name are Professor Gerald Robotnik and Maria Robotnik. --Ryu (Talk | Contributions) 17:17, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Story section needs complete redo

Alot of the story section looks like its done by a two year old. I think the story section needs to be completely redone. I have compiled a list of the worst examples from the article because I find it funny.

  • ...while holdining on to the outside of the Eclipse Cannon as it starts to screw up.
  • Shadow shows Eggman the shutdown Eclipse Cannon...
  • They finally showed their plan to the world when they also destroyed half the moon.
  • He finally defeated Sonic the Hedgehog! Or did he?
  • ...video from before Gerald's death while he's in prison of his plan to destroy the Earth...
  • Shadow hears Maria's voice and pulls upward a little further.

I was waiting for someone to notice. Go ahead and start editing it if you will. I'll help. Paul Haymon 11:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
ok you people do that but can someone please realise that in SA2 it was Hyper Shadow who was fighting with Super Sonic, hence why after the fight Shadow uses the last of his choas control to teleport to the planet, now have a listen to this, Sonic when he was fighting Dark Oak in Season three of Sonic X (Japanese Season 2) fell at the same altitude height (While in his SUPER form) and then he ended up falling through Earth's atmosphere and crashing onto the actual planet's surface, that is why eggman finds him in that state, if Shadow was Super when he fell to Earth then why was he able to use chaos control to get to the planet and be found by Dr. Robotnick? does it not make perfect sence that in Sonic Heroes, Shadow is hidden in the base? And one more thing, if that Shadow was an android then how the (excuse the profanity here please) fuck did he remember about Sonic's Super Form? Please Someone see the sence.... SA2 - Hyper Shadow, SH - Normal Shadow, Sonic X - Super Shadow.... now I hope I have spread some light on what some of you "fans" are thinking.

And before you ask where I got this kind of information from I asked Sega myself because I was confused when you fans started to call his SA2 form "Super Shadow" Please can someone get back to me on this? If I don't return to wikipedia: Unkown337@hotmail.com - that is my e-mail address, proper thoughts only, no small vocabulary flames, have a nice and abuse free day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.17.212.179 (talkcontribs)

Sega have stated that Sonic X is not part of the "official" Sonic continuation. The episodes made were based on the games but they were never meant to be a future to the official game storyline. Sonic X may be useful to understand the videogame storyline but the two universes are not identical and this often causes confusion. For example, in the videogames Sonic never actually breaks the sound barrier. Also I dont think Super/Hyper Shadow's name was ever confirmed and if it was, i think it would be Super Shadow. I think Hyper Shadow was a name used only in the Archie Comics because the only time i saw the Hyper prefix in the game universe was in Sonic 3 & Knuckles with Hyper Knuckles and Hyper Sonic. Shadow cant become hyper because the Super Emeralds never appear in Sonic Adventure 2 (or any game other than S3&K.) ROSSYMILES TALK 07:27, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

But it was confirmed. The game constantly refers to Shadow's "super form". If we could get quotes from the Japanese dub of the game, or even just the American, then that should suffice. I'd say it's probably necessary to avoid the obvious edit war that might follow due to the fans' love for the "Hyper Shadow" name. --Onore Baka Sama (talk) 02:57, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
If Shadow's super form was called Super Shadow in Sonic X, then that's definitely its official name, as while the show isn't canon, it was produced by Sonic Team and was pretty faithful to the games when it comes to characters and names, and Sonic Team would have no reason whatsoever to go randomly renaming stuff for Sonic X. Moreover, there were concepts introduced in Sonic X that later appeared in the video games, such as the purpose of Shadow's ring bracelets. - 190.138.10.18 (talk) 22:33, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

General discussion area for Dec 2013

I, along with Sjones, are working on cleaning this page up. Starting up a general discussion area regarding that.

Small question to start things off: Right now, the lead says

Sonic Adventure 2 (Japanese: ソニックアドベンチャー2 Hepburn: Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū?)...The game was ported to the Nintendo GameCube and re-titled Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (ソニックアドベンチャー2 バトル Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū: Batoru?).

Is it necessary to relist all of that name in English/Japanese when all they really did was slap a :Battle subtitle on the second release. It seems like a lot of redundant Japanese cluttering up the opening sentences. Or am I off-base? Thoughts? Sergecross73 msg me 15:50, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

I think the second translation is unnecessary, but I also haven't checked whether there's a policy or guideline on these situations czar  19:12, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Looking over the article briefly, this particular part in the beginning of the Game Play section stands out:

Sonic Adventure 2 is a platform game in which the player controls Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog, among others. The game follows the same basic principles of previous games in the series. However, the Tails and Doctor Eggman stages use a health bar which is reloaded by gathering rings.

This is a bit confusing. Can the player control any charactes at any time, or are they only playable on certain stages? Or do the characters have their own gameplay mechanics, like the health bar mentioned? This can use more clarification. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 17:47, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

No, the game forces you to use certain characters at certain times. You're right, it is confusing. Even that "among others" is pretty sloppy, may as well list off all the playable characters right off the bat... Sergecross73 msg me 18:21, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
I also think that we should elaborate on what the "basic principles of previous games" are, so it gives more context. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 20:57, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Initial comments

  • "published by Sega for the Dreamcast console" - really? I would lose console?
  • "The game has also been released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows via online services" - when were they re-released? The infobox gives this information out but this lead does not
  • "Scenery was influenced by locations in the United States such as San Francisco and Yosemite National Park" - the Yosemite National Park
  • I don't know if it's that way in UK English, but here in the States the "the" is omitted (except for a few choice colloquial examples like The Ohio State University, which students will correct you over if you drop it). The park's article doesn't use it, which is probably a good barometer. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Oh it's just that it's included in a sentence from the development section "and from other American locations such as the Yosemite National Park", at first I didn't think it was a problem but reading it again made me think it should have been in the lead. I didn't know if the word "the" was omitted anyway, I thought it was on and off everywhere Jaguar 20:32, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Oh, you're right. Good catch; I removed it in its Development instance. Tezero (talk) 20:35, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • I thought that the lead didn't mention much on the development, but nevertheless it does summarise everything. Also "Development spanned one and a half years", when did it begin? Directly after the first Adventure?
  • It's implied in the source that they started Adventure 2 right after finishing localizing Adventure for the U.S., so I'll add that. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • "and the game as a whole has received numerous accolades" - which game received accolades? The GameCube port or the original version?
  • Both combined. It's basically one game on two platforms; the differences are minor. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • I don't have a problem with the plot section, it does appear to be well written on the prose side of things. If you would like to expand it after this review, it would be a good idea to do it if you plan to FAC this. If I recall this game did introduce a lot of characters
  • Adventure 2 added, as far as I can recall, Shadow, Rouge, Maria, the G.U.N. organization, the President, and maybe Gerald Robotnik (I think he appeared in Shadow somewhere; I can't remember). Other than Shadow and Rouge, none of these appeared anywhere else but in Shadow the Hedgehog when it's delving into Shadow's past, but probably still worth mentioning if I do restructure this section. I wasn't planning on FA, but it's a possibility. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • "Four Eyed Dragon exclaimed that" - who is this? Someone under a pseudonym? A website?
  • GamePro writers tend to use noms de plume, yes. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

References

  • Nice. Let's hope it stays that way; online game reviewers have been dropping like flies recently... Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Some links in a lot of VG articles have already been vaporized, but this article remains fine Jaguar 20:44, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Ref 36, is VGMDb a reliable source to use?
  • I wouldn't have expected so just by looking, but it's in most if not all of our GA music articles (pick any Final Fantasy game, head to the music article that probably exists for it, and you'll likely see it) and also in Sonic 1 and 2 (both GAs, obviously). Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • My mistake, I thought that it was related (but not directly) to IMDB, or some form of it. The more you know Jaguar 20:43, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

On hold

This is a nice article, it shouldn't seem that difficult to pass the GAN. This was also the last Sonic I have ever played. Not much to point out though, other than mostly those prose issues, I think this could be another GA. Will put this on hold, let me know if you have any questions Jaguar 20:01, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Is there anything else, Jaguar, or are we good? Tezero (talk) 21:08, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
Nope, all good, thanks for doing this so quickly. Let's promote this   Jaguar 21:11, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Development section expansion

Any source ideas for expanding the Development section? It's been tagged for four years. I can track down the sources if I know what could be useful. czar  00:53, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Having just returned from my two-month semiretirement, I can provide some sources here:
I will add more as I go. Thoughts? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 01:02, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
I've been trying to log in to Sonic Retro for the last hour to contact the authors of their development article. Think it's worth asking for their sources? Do you already have a working account? Those links look good. If you find any print articles mentioned, I can work on retrieving their text. I think I'll start with the Dev section and copyediting. czar  01:42, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
I think it's worth asking that. I will work on the plot section and gameplay as well, using the instruction manual and quotes from the game itself. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:22, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
I've begun to work on Development using those sources. (Actually, I may have been the one who added the Iizuka source years ago; writing dates out longhand in refs wasn't standard back then.) Tezero (talk) 22:33, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

"for good"

I pretty much agree with using the phrase "for good" in the sentence. I mean if you simply say "leave the business," that kinda suggests a comeback by the company in future. But if you say "leave the business for good," that makes it clear that the company is completely done in that field. As for Sega, it doesn't seem like they would return to making hardware despite calls from adoring fans. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.58.17.80 (talk) 03:24, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

  • Who's to say they won't ever come back to it? Even if it's highly unlikely, Sega still produce arcade hardware, so they are still capable to some degree. The present sentence doesn't go against the last edit, and does so with fewer words. Seems a bit WP:W2W too. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 05:03, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Completely disagree. It's the opposite - if one says they leave, and nothing else is said, there is no reason to think they returned. "For good" is unnecessary. Sergecross73 msg me 13:03, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Infogrames

Since LTPofficial seems so determined, I checked his "sources", and there's actually some truth to it. Sonic Retro's scans of the UK, FR DE, ES and NL covers have the Infogrames logo present on the back of the box. SA2B's listing on the official Nintendo UK site lists Infogrames as the publisher as well. A GameSpot article from 2001 confirms the existence of the Sega/Infogrames publishing deal. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 15:52, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

Port or emulation

Multiple sources point out the fact that the re-release runs with (partial) native widescreen support and higher-resolution textures, something not present in either prior version. Sega of China is also credited in-game for producing the port, a credit absent the DC or GC versions. -- 50.4.172.142 (talk) 20:30, 14 May 2017 (UTC)

  • Thanks. The developer (Sega of China) shouldn't matter for these types of things, but the native support for different resolutions makes it more than a simple ROM/ISO running off an emulator. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 23:40, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

IGN 2022

Why was it removed? IGN is a legit source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.192.165.53 (talk) 23:39, 28 May 2022 (UTC)

Apologies, I reverted too far. I support your initial edit to add it to the reception, but not your subsequent decision to move it to "Accolades". That's really meant more for actual awards, not just a website saying it was "one of the best" more casually like that. Sergecross73 msg me 00:16, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Actually release of Sonic Adventure 2

Sonic Adventure 2 was released worldwide simultaniously on June 23 2001, I know because of this https://web.archive.org/web/20011211104226/http://tails01.sonicteam.com/sonicadv2/0413/titlelogo_e.html --2600:1700:3680:8B70:AD52:C4C7:5769:67B4 (talk) 03:48, 14 December 2021 (UTC)

There seems to be reason to believe this didn't happen--see this archived press release https://segaretro.org/Press_release:_2001-06-19:_Sega_Celebrates_Ten_Years_of_Sonic_With_the_Worldwide_Launch_of_Sonic_Adventure_2_Exclusively_for_Dreamcast — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8804:1E80:DB0:39:6E06:C94A:90BD (talk) 01:01, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
