WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. In the four years since the last RM for this article, the term "hoverboard" has established itself pretty decisively as meaning the subject of this article- the "self-balancing scooter", and is also the main term used for the topic in most places. When I googled "hoverboard", the first 45 results were for this topic, with the fictional hoverboard first appearing as the 46th google search result. Given the overwhelming extent to which "hoverboard" generally means the topic of this article, combined with the fact that the term "self-balancing scooter" is almost never used, a move is obviously needed. This google trends graph illustrates the extent to which the "scooter" is the primary topic- neither "hoverboard" nor "self-balancing scooter" were ever searched for until the hoverboard (scooter) became popular in 2015, but since then it has received a lot of searches- almost all of which must be for the "scooter". Given the decisiveness of the primary topic, I'm surprised the article hasn't been moved long ago, but better late than never... Chessrat (talk, contributions) 03:00, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Keep as it is - It is a more general term than "hoverboard" - which also refers to many fictional devices such as the one in Back to the Future Part 2. Segway's own brand of self-balancing scooter isn't even called a "hoverboard", seen here. Yoshiman6464 ♫🥚 03:28, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Keep - There is a link to Self-balancing scooter in the lede of Hoverboard and a hatnote linking to it as well. Unneeded. Seemplez {{ping}} me 13:05, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose This would appear to be a case of WP:NOPRIMARY. Hoverboard should become a disambiguation, and point to both articles, perhaps Hoverboard (levitating) and Hoverboard (wheeled scooter). 162.208.168.92 (talk) 16:23, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • Comment How do you reach the conclusion that there is no primary topic, given that the google trends and google search results point to the actual real-life hoverboard being the overwhelmingly most-used term being referred to? First 45 search results are for the real-life hoverboard... I am genuinely curious as to how anyone could think the fictional device is close in commonality. Check out the pageviews, and perhaps WP:NWFCTM. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 17:23, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
The google trends graph isn’t really helpful, as anyone wanting to reach this article will have to go through that one (as nobody would think to search for “self-balancing scooter”). Chessrat (talk, contributions) 01:53, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
