what years?

i swore the sega channel started somewhere in 1994. -It did. Unfortunately it never came to my area in time. I was in 4th/5th grade begging my mother to call the cable company every month to find out about it but it never came for me.

Ah, the memories. I won first prize (not grand, unfortunately) in a Road Rash contest and got a t-shirt. -Unknownwarrior33 18:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

felt like mentioning that i live in the UK and we had sega channel in our home. years ago now. so it wasn't just an american thing. i don't really know how to present this information within the article so just thought i'd mention it here. - a person, 2:53am, 20th January 2007 (GMT)

A couple things... edit

Right now the article implies the Genesis was discontinued in 1995. That should be corrected, and also, a list of the 12 exclusives the Sega Channel got would be cool.

-Alien Soldier

-Mega Man: The Wily Wars

-Pulse Man

-Golden Axe 3

-Donald Duck in Maui Mallard

-Mr. Nutz

-International Rugby Body Count

-Blood Shot/Battle Frenzy

-Hurricanes

-Power Drive

-Nightmare Circus

-Sonic Eraser

Though I agree wikipedia isn't a directory, this is pretty valuable information.--SexyKick 20:40, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

That part would need sourcing. Also, "Sonic Eraser" isn't a Sega Channel title, it's a Sega Meganet title. Also, what would be a better way to phrase it? It was "officially supported" until 1997, yes, but in essence Sega pulled all of their focus off of Genesis in 1995 after Nakayama's decision. I know Sega-16's article mentions The Wily Wars, but past that, I don't know. I can take a shot at editing the current statement re: discontinuation.--SexyKick 21:41, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I saw that too. I wasn't really looking to make a list, per se, but made mention of a couple, including Alien Soldier, which I used an image for. The thing is, though, they're not "Sega Channel" exclusives - they're regional exclusives. Unlike Meganet, Sega Channel's releases were all launched on cartridge, but some weren't released in North America but were on the NA Sega Channel, like Wily Wars and Pulseman. It's also worth noting Sega Channel wasn't a North American exclusive service; even Sega's official website, in an archive, said as much. "Sega Pat" edit

Is that guy really called Sega Pat? What's the source? Popcornfud (talk) 20:17, 24 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Popcornfud: It's in the linked issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, issue 71. In the picture with the mascot, it says "Sega Pat and Sega Channel are SM&TM of Sega". Red Phoenix talk 20:45, 24 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Red Phoenix, thanks. That's funny. Popcornfud (talk) 20:50, 24 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Never let it be said Sega wasn't quirky and creative at their height. Red Phoenix talk 20:52, 24 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

At one point, I tossed around the idea of creating an article about Sega Channel's exclusive content. But my research found that most wasn't so much "service exclusive" as much as it was "region exclusive", and I never found much beyond what's said in the article already. So I've scrapped that idea. But it does look like I may have dug up some sources not used in the article, so I thought I'd list them here in case they can be of use. At the very least they could be used to source some more region exclusive examples, if anyone finds it beneficial. I can go either way.
