"quasi-sequel"

edit

lmao wikipedia writing is some of the most ridiculous I've ever seen. Scarface: The World Is Yours is a sequel, not a quasi-sequel or a semi-sequel or a pseudo-sequel or whatever you would call it. It's a sequel because it continues from or picks up where the Scarface left off. That's the definition of a "sequel". It doesn't matter that it's not official or it's a video game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.100.107.104 (talk) 21:17, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I must have missed the part of Scarface where Tony Montana doesn't die. 81.153.118.146 (talk) 17:48, 3 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Why should it matter if the story was tweaked a little to fit the purpose of the game? It doesn't make it any less of a sequel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.100.107.104 (talk) 21:01, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

It showed that there is indeed a "Balls Meter", which fills up to trigger an invincible Rage Mode, and that the profanity for which the movie is famous is intact, to the point where when you lose, instead of saying "Game Over" or "You Died", it says "You Fucked Up." BTW The game is out now, but I'm not going to write the article.

Release date

edit

"September 31st 2006 (Canada)" How's that possible? There were only 30 days in September.

New release?

edit

Can anyone tell me where they heard that the exotics glitch would be fixed for future copies of the game? The Architect 01 13:01, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

do you think that www.scarface-online.com should be added to external links, as 'Scarface' fansite. The site provides useful information like gang location maps, vehicle pictures etc.

No man, I checked the site, and while it does have a few good things about the game, it doesn't have much compared to other sites about the Scarface game, and there is no need to fill up the page with connections to hundreds of game sites. The Architect 01 15:28, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Needs Cleanup

edit

It seems to me that this article has way too much fancruft. It seems to be written mainly as an ad, with no real encylopedia content. Also, with the exception of Sosa, the links to the enemies don't seem to be right. This article needs real cleanup. --J Arn 22:36, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I attempted to cleanup some of the sentences, but after looking over the entire entry as whole, I decided it needs to be re-written. It has too many repeating sections and some of the information seems too reminiscent of the game's official website. --Dragnilar 08:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Deletions

edit

Ok the sections on the enemies and the weapons has been completely ripped off of the game manual, and until someone writes a more detailed and original version of these sections they will have to be deleted. The Architect 01 20:11, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Should this have a cast list in the sidebar?

edit

I would think it should have one, but there is none thus yet.--Iamstillhiro1112 02:24, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree. I think it would be a good idea given that the instruction manual doesn't even have one. TheGrandMediocrity 12:57, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
That's a good idea. I also agree. 110.138.104.119 (talk) 13:29, 12 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

So wait...

Is this an actual sequel or a what if scenario? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.201.174.176 (talk) 02:52, 6 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

Both I think...if you enjoyed the movie you will like the game. KaseyKahne 05:52, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

You replay the last scene of the movie, and change a few things, so it becomes a "what if Tony had survived?" scenario. TheGrandMediocrity 18:51, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
edit

I think the excessive links make this article hard to read (especially the first paragraph). The rule for links should be Will this help most readers? Will most readers need a link to find out what a sequel is, or a motion picture? Humane Earth 04:12, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Delete the entire weapons section

edit

Because it's wrong anyway, and also totally irrelevant as it's written. --76.224.71.159 07:43, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

For the firearm inexperienced...

edit
  • "Clip" and "magazine" are not the same thing. Clips are used to load magazines and magazines feed ammuntion to the firearm. All the weapons mentioned in this article use magazines, so do not use the word clip in your edits unless you are referring to the little metal things that hold paper together.

Similar?

edit

Would this be similar to GTA: Vice City, widely seen to be influenced on the original Scarface?

how can something be "influenced on". you mean influenced by or based on.

  • Now that's just pedantic.

I have to say I completely disagree with that viewpoint. This game is based on Scarface. Vice City is based on Scarface.

Its possible that Vice City is the reason they published this, but it doesn't have any real influence. 90.201.23.93 (talk) 10:29, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

map

edit

can anyone provide me with a map for the game world, i can't find one no matter where i look.

This isn't a forum or a gaming site. DurinsBane87 (talk) 03:17, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I disagree, we do that with some Grand Theft Auto games. Like Vice City and San Andreas. And, anonnie, if you're looking for a map and we don't have one, I'm pretty sure you can look for a map of the real Miami as the game takes place there and they really nailed the likeness to the real Miami so you could look for that. a>C-Son-L_Sweaters.exe 02:08, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pacino not in game

edit

While Pacino's likeness was used in the game, his voice is not. That should be clarified in the intro, which suggests he "starred" in the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.127.169.72 (talk) 21:50, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the introduction, it credits him as a star in the game --Casket56 (talk) 06:48, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Casket56, did you look in the credits of the instruction book? I did, it says the voice actor for Tony was Miguel something ( don't remember the last name). Check that. a>C-Son-L_Sweaters.exe 02:12, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

What about the voice when we entered a front for the first time (when it's availble for a mission)? Some sources say that it's Pacino's. Can someone clarify this? Thanks. 110.138.104.119 (talk) 13:28, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I remember something about Pacino not directly being involved in the game because of legal issues; it wouldn't do good for Pacino to be seen running over pedestrians, executing naive drug dealers or any sort of horrible god-awfulness Scarface gets up to. They fudged the details on purpose so they can have a dramatic game. Of course, I am not a lawyer and I could be wrong. Lots42 (talk) 04:44, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

As far as I know they didn't use his voice, mostly because (according to Pacino) his voice had changed considerably, and they got a very good impersonator to do the job. The likeness is his, which is probably why he is the 'star' in the game. In the end, the guy who did 'Tony Montana's voice was imitating Al Pacino, standing in. It's like getting a body double I suppose. I think what matters is the star is the guy whose voice they "wanted" in the game, not the voice they "had to use", especially since it 'imitated', and did not 'replace' Al Pacino's voice. Mr. Miguel is _not_ the star, but he deserves a good mention. Joeywayne (talk) 15:48, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

this page looks bad

edit

yeah it looks like shit. red links and moron's trying to slack off work by putting up handwritten disclaimers. Why is the video game project not fixing these pages?--75.169.73.28 (talk) 03:13, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

The plot section

edit

I've played this game to heck and back and the plot section is a little too ... exuberant, even for me. This is going to take a lot of effort to clean up. Lots42 (talk) 03:12, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

In a few days I plan to re-work the plot. There are many, many ways in which it needs improvement. Any objections? Lots42 (talk) 15:00, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Engine for this game is same as GTA?

edit

Just wondering if the programming and engine for the Scarface game was built around (using the code of) the Grand Theft Auto engine. Watched a youtube video and it looks almost exactly like GTA: San Andreas in every way possible. Right or wrong? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.74.221.156 (talk) 06:33, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please people, don't write it's a RanderWare game without a proper proof. See our edit. If anybody has a good reference, please write it below.

developer & publisher?

edit

Infobox has these: Developer(s): Radical Entertainment and Publisher(s): Vivendi Universal Games THX
Strangely though, cover picture only has Sierra along the title and rating. Yet there is no mention about Sierra in the article. 85.217.34.67 (talk) 14:45, 5 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
