Williamson says attributes. I don't have a strong opinion on which is better, though.

girls ready for love does this mean those of eligible marrying age, or some sort of divinely determined time in which the girls are ready to love?

I suspect it means girls who have entered puberty, but this isn't actually clear in the source; "girls ready for love" is a direct quote. Perhaps it's more idiomatic in the original Italian.
