Mugshot

Surely there is a more appropriate photo of the artist that isn't a mugshot. Can someone change this?

Please sign your posts. Is it that clearly a mugshot if you do not click on the file? It is the only image on Wikipedia that clearly shows his face, which is the point of the infobox image. If you have a picture of him that you have taken please feel free to upload it. STATic message me! 04:34, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

This article is not non-POV

The material at the bottom is probably commercially derived hype -- it needs to be changed so it's not so oriented toward selling Rick Ross records. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrewrowe (talkcontribs) 18:22, May 20, 2006

I assume you meant that the article isn't written in NPOV (which I agree with). Phrases like "His use of rhetorical devices in his songs reveals his mastery of the english language" need to be removed. Qutorial 02:46, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Also remember that as he explicitly states, Rick Ross " aint bout no funny sh*t, still bit**es and bizness". There is no need for this so I removed it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.135.164.170 (talkcontribs) 14:56, May 27, 2006

Weasel words, Professionalism

This article has weasel words that need to be removed, or sourced.

"as he is often compared to some of rap's most influential figures, and is considered a lyrical genius by residents of Dade-County"

and

"Phrases like "This is not surprising" and "for his use of weaker rhymes" should be reworded to sound more professional. It currently sounds as if the article is taking a stance on "rhyme strength," and unless someone can come up with a good reason for "This is not surprising" being there, I am going to merge the two sentences and remove the offending statement. Qutorial 02:46, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't think the phrase "Ross started out taking big ole black ones in the rear, he called the men in prison birds, because they would all flock to his caboose like condors" is very professional. It might be appropriate for lyrics but not an encyclopedia. Emmaskis (talk) 00:15, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

how can i meet you in person because i am your biggest fan of all time.

Sweet, I have a fan? Who are you? Emmaskis (talk) 20:56, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

rick ross diagnosed with cancer today?

what is this about rick ross and cancer? is that confirmed, or is this someone's idea of a joke? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.137.253.9 (talkcontribs) 17:29, August 24, 2006

this page is almost constantly vandalized. it still says he was born in Flushing, NY, which is untrue. also, I have no idea who taylor turetsky is, but I believe that is a silly vandalism as well. 24.90.225.169 00:58, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Record Sales

Removed the U.S. record sales for his special edition album (not sure that'll be out there), that stated it went out to sell more than 289 million units. No need to say how retarded that is... User:Kajito

Ok i took of the part where it says 8 times diamond on the account of thats 80 million albums and no one has ever sold that much im not even sure if his album has even went gold yet

Sources

Most of the text is taken word by word from his biography on AOL Music http://music.aol.com/artist/rick-ross/736150/biography?albumid=0 without even mentioning it as a source. That should be changed.

I think the ref to zoe pound should be removed. To associate someone with a particular gang without sources is bad practice. 143.207.8.4 12:12, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

The Street Catalog: Official Mixtape

this album The Street Catalog: Official Mixtape is stated in rick ross' artist chart history on billboard.com but its not mentiond here

Age?

Why has his name been changed back and forth so many times from 30 to 33 back to 30?  Taylor21  01:03, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Album Confusion

Which one is his second album? Is it Rise To Power or Trilla, as Rise To Power is not in his discography, and not to mention the fact that it sometimes states Trilla is his third, and sometimes his second. If he released Rise To Power in September, he is going to release Trilla in November, 2 months later? Seems a little soon... could somebody straighten this out? I needa change

Rise to Power is a collection of older material that was released last month. Eli lilly 19:25, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Early Life

I believe he was a corrections officer, also mediatakeout provided pics.Media Take Out Article on Rick Ross being corrections officer.--143.81.248.53 (talk) 05:05, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

i think i addressed the corrections officer controversy NPOV. there is more info to be added, i am sure. Theserialcomma (talk) 16:44, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

The header title seems a bit long. How about removing the word "Controversy"? Meanwhile, the Foxy Brown rumors can be moved w/in the music section given that Brown's also a rapper.--Andrewlp1991 (talk) 04:39, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

OK, I think it's too POV to make a whole new header out of a minor incident in Ross' life, so this should be merged w/in the main bio. --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 04:41, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Can someone fix that link? 69.76.134.4 (talk) 01:54, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

I removed it because it was messed up. If someone wants to add it back correctly that's cool. 69.76.134.4 (talk) 02:01, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

50 Cent controversy?

50 Cent recently came out with a few videos where he reveals Rick Ross's history and interviews the mother of Rick Ross's children before buying her a fur coat. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.232.180.172 (talk) 02:14, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Feud with 50 Cent also leaving slip n slide

Why is there no mention of this feud on his page when it is mentioned on 50 cent's page? Everytime someone adds this information it gets deleted. Dumaka (talk) 19:35, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm. I think there are a few innacuracies in this article.

I stopped by this page to check the going-on in Ross's career, and was a little amused to find that the page appears to have been vandalized pretty heavily. For example, I think the mention of an outstanding lease on a 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe could be a fabrication, and at the very least cites no sources. I thought I would help by making a few edits in favor of fact, but was dismayed when I discovered that I couldn't correct the information due to its locked status. To my understanding, a tenet of the philosophy behind Wikipedia is that, given the ease by which everyone can contribute, the articles would tend toward the truth and vandals discouraged because their falsehoods could be immediately corrected. In this case, someone who wanted to make a correction was discouraged from doing so.

Rick Ross may have been a correctional officer at one point, and suffered negative impact to his street cred as a result, but someone needs to remove the obvious bias from this article.

This page is vandalized to the nth degree

This is hilarious though - the FBI pic, the officer ricky, being retired because of 50's 'pressure'. LOL. Gotta give it to these vandals, they have imagination :). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.238.62.79 (talk) 21:41, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Let it be Known

Spreading the truth is not considered hating. The truth must be known in order for people to be informed. Stop deleting the truth from this page. If it's truth and has a reference there is no reason for it to be deleted. Dumaka (talk) 14:03, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Label

Can someone delete Slip N Ride Records & Suave House from Ross' Labels? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.245.94.122 (talk) 10:24, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Controversy section

Now I notice that all the controversial material about Ross (including the corrections officer photos) has been forked out into a controversy section, something that deceptively circumvents NPOV. I'd like such details to be merged within a main "personal life" section instead if they're relevant to it. --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 21:55, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I changed it to reflect his life instead of controversy. Dumaka (talk) 12:19, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Cool! That should be a bit more neutral. --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 00:28, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Single from Teflon Don - "Live Fast, Die Young"

According to Bloginity.com (http://www.bloginity.com/entertainment/music-entertainment/kanye-west-rick-ross-record-music-in-hawaii/24501/), Ross recently recorded a song titled "Live Fast, Die Young" in Hawaii with Kanye West. The track may be the first single off of Teflon Don. Ross said it was "one of the best recording experiences of my career" and that the track "will keep you on that dance floor. Bloginity.com also quotes Ross as saying that "it's a phenomenal record" and "I'm just extremely excited." In adittion to West, Teflon Don will feature Drake, Jay-Z, Cee-Lo and No-I.D. The article suggests that the two may have also worked on West's upcoming release, Good Ass Job, but Ross declined to reveal details about that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.180.194.123 (talk) 14:00, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
