Attempts to remove "outdated" information

While it was first removed without comment [1], removing it with the claim it is somehow "outdated" [2] is inappropriate. That's not "outdated". It may be content that the corporation would rather not be included in this article, but there's nothing "outdated" about it.

Please review WP:COI, and make any necessary declarations so we can get the conflict of interest concerns behind us.

Assuming that you have a conflict of interest, it would be best to use edit requests rather than editing the article directly. Keeping the requests small and specific will help us work through them quickly.

Please try to work from independent, reliable sources so we can avoid problems of unencyclopedic promotion --Ronz (talk) 15:19, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

I can't emphasize enough the need for independent sources. Wikipedia is not a forum for promotion. --Ronz (talk) 23:37, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Lede

The lede section shouldn't be source by their own publications, but should introduce the company and summarize the article content. A source such as http://www.hoovers.com/company-information/cs/company-profile.raymond_james_financial_inc.80a705c2d6a60103.html would be big improvement. --Ronz (talk) 23:42, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Noticing that the Hoovers profile better matches the old version of the lede, I reverted and added Hoovers as a source. --Ronz (talk) 23:49, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure we want to use primary sources to guide us on such detail. I'm not seeing any historical context in the sources or what you're proposing. I'm not seeing how these sources are fundamentally different than the press release currently used in the article. I'd like to see what other editors think. --Ronz (talk) 17:15, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
I agree with Ronz. In order to be successful, a company must always be on the lookout for new potential sources of revenue. One way of doing this is to expand a company's opportunities for brand recognition. RJ is one brand out of many who offer financial services. The proposed changes are to the labeling of different configurations and divisions of the RJ brand of financial services.   Question: If the information contained in the proposed changes is already located on RJ's web site, then for what other reason does it need to also be placed here, in a second location, if not to increase opportunities for brand recognition?  Spintendo  ᔦᔭ  07:30, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
The Reuters and Forbes sources provided are third-party, reliable sources independent of Raymond James. The additional information more accurately and thoroughly describes what the company does - and it's all in one place and easy to consume, which is helpful for wiki users who want a quick summary of Raymond James Financial without having to navigate through various pages on the company's website.   Implemented The information about RJ featured on Reuters is considered by Reuters to be editorial content, which is a distinct and separate form of information. Nevertheless, I've taken the main constituent parts of your proposed text and appended them to the article.  Spintendo  ᔦᔭ  08:33, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
