Moved to mainspace by BeanieFan11 (talk). Self-nominated at 15:23, 25 March 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Rabbit Keen; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.Reply

  •   The article is new enough, long enough, and the nominator has completed a QPQ. Earwig does not alert, but BeanieFan11 uses many newspapers in their articles. The article is both new enough (3/25/23) and long enough (5717 characters). ALT0 is interesting, cited, and in the article; and the hook might only work as an April Fools hook since it is an Egg. ALT1 does not work since (from my reading) he was only named Rabbit once he got to the pros, therefore they did not sign a rabbit. The article has the correct inline citations throughout and is neutral. Good work. Bruxton (talk) 16:23, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Possible April Fools hook. Bruxton (talk) 16:23, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Bruxton: Yes, that's what I was hoping for. BTW, what do you think of my image suggestion? Too silly? :) BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:26, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
No image slot available. And the image may be a bridge too far. Bruxton (talk) 16:28, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ok. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:30, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@BeanieFan11: Would you be open to a mashup for April Fool's Day? We have a hook that has been proposed for a very long time that needs a mashup partner, and I'm wondering if Rabbit is the one. So basically, it would look something like:
If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. I'm not entirely sure it's fair on the mashee to be honest. Plus football-baseball is kind of odd. But since you were asking about April Fool's and we have one slot left, I thought I would ask. Cielquiparle (talk) 21:58, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Cielquiparle: I'd be fine with that. Though maybe remove the quotes (... that a rabbit played for the Philadelphia Eagles – as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, that will be a home run. And so that will make it a 4-0 ballgame?) BeanieFan11 (talk) 22:14, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
It works. A reader has to be surprised by the hook. It is definitely an interesting interruption! Bruxton (talk) 22:50, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Comments edit

  • I copyedited the article (easier than writing out all the minor comments) here. Let me know if you disagree with any of the edits.
  • Image is fair use, appropriately tagged and used.
  • and being a member of the relay team in the latter., this wording here is clunky. Maybe just and for the relay team?
  • Dr. Pepper's team in the Capital City League Dr. Pepper as in the drink? Can you link that?
  • The non newspaper references need access-dates.
  • Spot check: 4, 7, 9, 13, 17, 20, 23, 25, 28
    • Ref #4 has a problem with the link. Newspapers.com says it is missing.
    • Keen also holds the record for longest completion in league history by a player who only completed one pass. is a really close paraphrase of the source. Can you reword a bit or just directly quote?

Looks really good. Putting on hold. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 02:55, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • That ref #4 issue is very odd - I went to the page ([1]) and clicked on the clipping, and it said unavailable, and then I made a new clipping myself (see here for my recent clippings), clicked on it, and was told it was unavailable. Maybe including a link like this might work? BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:19, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
    • @Gonzo fan2007: I think I've addressed all the issues. As for the newspapers.com issue, I put this as the url which I believe still works for those who aren't subscribed to the website. BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:13, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
