Merger proposal

I propose that French-speaking Quebecer be merged into Québécois people. In my view, the topic of the two articles overlaps to an extent that a reasonable distinction is not possible, or at least does not make sense. RJFF (talk) 17:23, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

It is possible to be an anglophone Québécois, and it's also possible to be a francophone of non-Québécois heritage; although obviously neither group is as large as the group of people that are both Québécois and francophone, neither group is non-existent either. I oppose the merger. Bearcat's point is accurate, there are English-speaking Quebecers. The whole definition of who is and who is not a Québécois is controversial. Not all French-speaking Quebecers have identified as Québécois, for instance former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien is a Canadian. The Quebec government has emphasized a Quebec culture based on the French language, but there are many predominantly English-speaking people in Montreal who primarily identify as Canadians, I do not know if they identify as Québécois. Disagree with the post by the anonymous user. There are many Quebecers who identify as part of a Quebecois nation. The Quebecois nation has been recognized by the Government of Canada. The point is that there are French-speaking Quebecers who identify as being part of the Quebecois nation and others who identify as being part of the Canadian nation. I have to echo the sentiments expressed above: the definition of 'Québécois' is not simply 'French-speaking Quebecer'. In fact, this article itself was based on the assumption that 'Québécois' has only one definition. I've made some amendments to try and rectify that; but, really, I think the whole page should be deleted/merged. --Ħ MIESIANIACAL 15:47, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Québécois people

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Québécois people's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Just to point out that there is no letter "é" in the English language. Moreover, no references from this article ever write the nation's name this way. So, in my understanding, the use of "é" must be avoided and the article renamed to "Quebecois people". If you differ, please care to value your opinion. Dubious numbers

The figure for Québécois in New Brunswick is actually the number of French speakers in NB, not Québécois. The vast majority of Francophones in NB are Acadians, not Québécois. Second Merger proposal

As it stands today, there is serious WP:OVERLAP with these two articles. Québécois (word) really only discusses the subject of Québécois people; there are few mentions of other definitions of the word, and none are discussed in detail. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 20:12, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

Request for Help to Implement Improved Audio for ‘Québécois’ and ‘Québécoise’ Word Pronunciations

I apologize for being inexperienced. I was wondering if I could get some help to implement audio files of higher quality for the 'listen' audio files associated with the 'Québécois' and 'Québécoise' word pronunciations. How would one go about doing this? The current recordings are fairly grainy and low-quality.
