The website does have a link to "Documentation" which tells you how: http://pvpgndocs.berlios.de U-238 11:49, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Private server advertising

edit

Because of Wikipedia's policy, I guess it could be nice to add a notice about not advertising servers on the links section, instead, adding a link to the PvPGN forums to the "Clans and Servers" section [1]

PvPGN's official tracker is online, again. Check the PvPGN article for more information.

Coder Recruitment

edit

The section about "looking for good coders" doesn't seem appropriate. This is an encyclopedia article, not a recruitment page. Anyone with interest in contributing to the project will likely go to the program's site anyhow.

PVPGN and click lag

edit

This section doesn't make any sense, and should be rewritten or removed.

I've added a section "Criticism" with the Click lag problem, looks cleaner. 200.115.156.250 07:53, 19 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I can't agree with definition of Click lag ("the slowest peer on the network is the overall speed of every player"), because delay between command and its reaction depends on player's ping to host and on pre-delay settings. It means that real latency is (players ping to host)+(pre-delay setting). Pre-delay of Blizzard games is set to 250ms for Battle.net games, and only 100ms for LAN games, that's why other platforms using emulated LAN experience less delay. Actually, PvPGN is not using p2p, but server based network - one player who creates game is host, and every commands are coming through him, every other players client is communicating only with host.--Turbo2200kBps (talk) 18:54, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cd-key verification

edit

A PvPGN Server can be used for playing without a valid cd-key, for example using pirated copy of game. See bnetd. Labelbasisstock (talk) 04:03, 7 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
